Things should be quiet at work; in fact my boss let us go at 3 yesterday. And I'm taking off Thurs. and Fri. My work no longer gives us Good Friday off as a regular paid holiday -- it's been replaced by "Juneteenth" -- but we can take a "floating holiday" during the year. Back to work today after a long weekend on the east coast to see my buddy Paul who is battling cancer. He lost his mom to leukemia when we were only 12 years old so it is was very difficult to see him debilitated the same way his mom was 50 years ago.

Cancer sucks.
My dad passed away 23 years ago yesterday from leukemia. I still remember the highs and lows and hopes as he would get better and then slide back. He was in remission for almost a year, and then the damn stuff came roaring back.

Nothing special. It's a sound bar for the TV. A Vizio 2.1 that has a subwoofer.
I don't know if it's any good, but the bar is small enough to fit in front of the TV.
Mainly looking for better voice clarity.

2.1 Soundbars can get stupid expensive but they are so convenient no matter the price compared to a typical audio system To my ear the $200.00 ish ones get the job done nicely. For my system I use a 3.1 Polk bookshelf speaker set up I bought 10 or so years that I run through an inexpensive Denon AV amp. The advantage of going this route instead of a soundbar is you can tune each speaker for where it is located with minimal fussing around. Once I dialed it in the voice clarity is now spot on.

For my system I use a 3.1 Polk bookshelf speaker set up I bought 10 or so years that I run through an inexpensive Denon AV amp. The advantage of going this route instead of a soundbar is you can tune each speaker for where it is located with minimal fussing around. Once I dialed it in the voice clarity is now spot on.

One of the mega dumb things they yatter on about is 24 bit/192 kbps lossless files, unlike typical CD quality files, not only show left to right sound staging bur back to front staging. I like asking them about the Nyquist Theorem and its implications for streaming media. Short version: the original designers of CDs made sure that bit depth and kbps used covered the entire range that human ears can hear and there was no point going further with because it was dumb. I seem to remember you writing about this a long time ago and I was thrilled. We brought our 3 African kitties with us and they all made it to 16 and beyond. It wasn't expensive when compared to the joy they had given us and the joy we would still reap. Two were mother and daughter.
