Manhattan garage worker charged with attempted murder after shooting thief

A Manhattan parking garage attendant who was shot twice while confronting an alleged thief — then wrestled the gun away and opened fire on the suspect — has been charged with attempted murder, police and sources said.

The stupidity and irrationality of the charge notwithstanding, it is perfectly representative of the socialist mindset that the individual can have no agency. Any person exercising independence from the government is immediately suspect, even if that independence was necessary to preserve life. The government and its lackeys are ferociously protective of their power, and will use that power to tamp down any diminution of that control over us. Obviously the power to protect one's life and property is the ultimate insult to the state, so anyone with the temerity to exercise that will be attacked.

The problem for Bragg is that he is dumber than a box of wrenches, and is unable to understand the immediate and obvious issues with regular working stiffs defending themselves against thuggery. He sees all independence as an affront to the state, and in his simple and ignorant mind cannot conceive of any consequences other than the defense of his and the state's power. Even a Manhattan jury is going to be sympathetic to the perfectly understandable and human reaction to GETTING SHOT!

But this is going to be the norm going forward, as woke lawyers inculcated with anti-freedom, post-modern nonsense in our elite law schools take control of our legal system. That nonsense is already trickling down into the state level, and when it hits the local level outside of blue enclaves and the great mass of Americans wake up to a legal system that has gone completely insane, it may be too late.

I suspect that if there is a political answer to our current moment it would involve broadly duplicating the tactics of the left/uniparty.

To this point even actual conservative Rs have been shy about this - Trump made some modest steps in this direction with the SALT stuff but we need more, much more.

I saw the EV ban fail in Wyoming which is another sort of example of this. Though if they were smart they would just start putting regulations on them that make them impossible - like the Uniparty with ICE cars.

The man and his family have been relentlessly persecuted, and I use that word advisedly, for over 6 years. It has cost him financially and personally more than I can imagine.

He ran his campaign against Hillary largely based on her crimes. Same. I had been leaning toward voting if Trump were indicted or charged, and only under that circumstance. No longer. Even going to the polls legitimizes an illegitimate system. If an actual "no confidence" vote on the United States miraculously were to get on the ballot I would vote. Otherwise, no. All well and good, but I would look at this kind of case, if that's indeed what happened, pretty much the same way I would look at a gun owner who left a loaded gun where their 4 year old can find it.

I know it's a rhetorical question, but international trade causes governments to be reluctant in asserting themselves. Japan and the LDP in particular would stand to lose a lot if most trade with the West ceased.
