Despite being such a big deal for such a long time it's only partially explored and I don't think they even know for sure what's at the other side of the underground lake that forms the basis of the tourist attraction.

Even though I have no respect for those with no skill or talent who are wealthy due to connections and provide little to no tangible goods to society over actual workers, farmers, business owners, I am really turned off by their progressive commie culture and find it to be really toxix. Let's face it, they aren't even nice people:the artists, trust fund kids, media people, and jetsetters I've met are all marxist scum. More like to be racist, more perverted and unhappy even though they are financially well off. I am wondering if this is the result of guilt for unearned wealth, or they are paranoiacs and all too aware of their own shortcomings. Or maybe they are just so aware that everything they think or say is wrong but they can not admit it to themselves. Or maybe they are trying to distract their betters by shoving the progressive narrative onto blue collar workers to create a class conflict, of if there is some need to compensate for their lack of worth ...... Posted by: Oddbob at March 31, 2023 10:15 PM (nfrXX) Dad used to change split rim tires in Grandpa's gas station. He said the trick was to put the split rim side down so if it popped, it would shoot down into the concrete and not in the air to take of various body parts. I can't tell if they are dismounting the tire, which is what they accomplished, or if they were trying to pop it into place. That thing about guys picking up where they left off - I had an uncle who told me about the time when he was young, he bought this fine antique roll top desk. But he couldn't pay the guys price, so he just bought the bottom half and said he'd come back for the top later, and the guy put it in his attic. But he doesn't quite ever have the money.
5 years go by. The two men never speak to each about it, but he goes into the guys shop 5 years later. Guy sees him and just says "so you gonna buy that top or not?" He says "yeah, sure." Gives him the money. Swears that was the total conversation. Posted by: Tom Servo at March 31, 2023 10:44 PM (q3gwH) Posted by: andycanuck (Vwz3I) at March 31, 2023 10:44 PM (Vwz3I) 91

The first amusement ride at Cedar Point, a water toboggan ride consisting of a ramp that launched riders into Lake Erie, opened in 1890. Electricity was installed at Cedar Point in 1891. The first roller coaster, Switchback Railway, opened the following year. It stood 25 feet high and had a top speed of 10 miles per hour. The Switchback Railway was designed as two identical tracks side-by-side – one for the ride down and the other for the train to be hauled back to the top by the ride attendant. I got plowing and gardening on my mind, and missed a astronomical time event. The shortest true solar day occurred on March 26th. The length of the apparent(true) solar day was 24 hours - 18.1s. Note this is the time between meridian crossings, high noon to high noon the next day. This is not the "day length" as the length between sunrise and sunset. The longest solar day occurs on Dec 22nd, the day after the winter solstice. The true day is 24 hr + 29.9s There are two other smaller extrema, June 16th, and Sept 16th. One word about underground caves and missing persons
CHUD Can’t believe no one else said it! Posted by: Justin Castreau at April 01, 2023 02:42 AM (pUsHI) Seems to be a lot of vanished persons up and down the West coast. Practically no limestone caves, maybe a few lava caves. Lava caves are piddly. They are confined to one lava flow, may run for a mile or so, but are mostly linear, no branching, and no sinks or chimneys. I'd hazard a guess that missing person correlates a lot better to population density than it does to availability of caves. Posted by: Alberta Oil Peon at April 01, 2023 03:02 AM (tkR6S) 258

Anybody going to Guadalajara and worried about crime and narcos, really, don't. It's quite safe. Stick to general touristy areas and attractions, and decent hotels, and it's perfectly fine. I ride public transportation all the time there and have never had a single problem. Ubers are safe. There are prepaid taxis from the airport. Really, it's a fun visit, I always have a good time.
Pro tip: in Mexico, first thing anywhere you are staying, find a local church and attend a Mass. Donate. The locals will see you there, and if you look Anglo, everyone will know you almost immediately. People will greet you on the street. Posted by: LenNeal at April 01, 2023 03:07 AM (UKCk3) 260
