Usually done with starting fluid/ether and lit to expand the gas inside and seat the rim.

Done correctly it's kinda/sorta a valid thing that lots of people do, but throw too much flammable liquid in there and you get a kaboom and people get hurt.

Not OSHA approved in any case.

Both Appalachia and the Ozarks are pure nightmare for manhunts. Tons of ways to get lost. And the people who live there aren't too fond of strangers roaming around their lands.

An old college buddy of mine was nearly one of those lost along the Appalachian Trail. It was a miracle he was found at all, mere hours from dying from exposure.

Dad used to change split rim tires in Grandpa's gas station. He said the trick was to put the split rim side down so if it popped, it would shoot down into the concrete and not in the air to take of various body parts.

I can't tell if they are dismounting the tire, which is what they accomplished, or if they were trying to pop it into place.
If it was trying to set the bead, I suspect they had too much gap in the back and it ignited from the guy giving a tiny gap by beating on it, and it rocketed off from the gap in the back.

Possibly ether (aka starting fluid). I have used the ether trick to make tubeless tires bead themselves when mounting them. I use either a long stick with a burning swab on it for ignition, or toss lit matches from a safe distance. Never been hurt, and it nearly always works.

Seems to me dude with the hammer and the torch guy were working at cross-purposes. They were lucky.

An old college buddy of mine showed up in my office a couple of months ago. He got a job working at the same university where I work, which is also the same university we both attended as freshmen.

I've run into him from time to time over the years, but haven't seen him for quite a while. We picked up right where we left off.

Same when a very dear friend of mine came to town a couple of years ago. I haven't seen her in twenty years, but when we met up again, it was like no time had passed.

That's just how I tend to roll.

Note this is the time between meridian crossings, high noon to high noon the next day. This is not the "day length" as the length between sunrise and sunset.

The longest solar day occurs on Dec 22nd, the day after the winter solstice. The true day is 24 hr + 29.9s

There are two other smaller extrema, June 16th, and Sept 16th.

Funny story: I'm Eastern Orthodox; arrived in GDL Sunday 5 AM, my friend didn't answer his phone and I couldn't check into my hotel room until 2PM. Took the subway to Tlaquepaque, absolutely nothing was open. I ended up attending two Catholic Masses at Parroquia de San Pedro Apostol! Built 16th Century.

Seems to be a lot of vanished persons up and down the West coast. Practically no limestone caves, maybe a few lava caves. Lava caves are piddly. They are confined to one lava flow, may run for a mile or so, but are mostly linear, no branching, and no sinks or chimneys. I'd hazard a guess that missing person correlates a lot better to population density than it does to availability of caves.

259 Anybody going to Guadalajara and worried about crime and narcos, really, don't. It's quite safe. Stick to general touristy areas and attractions, and decent hotels, and it's perfectly fine. I ride public transportation all the time there and have never had a single problem. Ubers are safe. There are prepaid taxis from the airport. Really, it's a fun visit, I always have a good time.
Pro tip: in Mexico, first thing anywhere you are staying, find a local church and attend a Mass. Donate. The locals will see you there, and if you look Anglo, everyone will know you almost immediately. People will greet you on the street.
