Merrick Garland Claimed that US Marshalls Decided Themselves to Not Arrest Threatening Protesters Outside Supreme Court Justices' Homes. He Lied: They Were Under DOJ Orders Not To Arrest Protesters Unless "Absolutely Necessary."

When Ted Cruz interrogated Garland about why there had not been a single prosecution of "protesters" menacing Supreme Court Justices after the leak of the Dobbs decision, Garland claimed that he could not prosecute anyone, because the US Marshals hadn't arrested anyone.

And so this was the Marshals' decision, not his.

Note that at the end of his answer, Merrick Garland insists "the Marshals do make that decision," regarding making an arrest.

So right there he claims that the Marshals "make the decision" whether or not to arrest threatening protesters illegally picketing outside Justices' homes, which then also makes the decision whether or not to prosecute them.

Documents have just been released proving that Merrick Garland's DOJ ordered the Marshals not to arrest any of the leftwing protesters, unless "absolutely necessary" to save the life of a Justice or a family member.

As RedState reported, Sen. Katie Britt shared bombshell documents on Wednesday proving that U.S. Marshals were instructed not to arrest protesters breaking federal law outside of the homes of various conservative Supreme Court Justices.

Garland blamed the U.S. Marshals on the ground for not making any arrests during his sworn testimony before Congress, but new documents presented by Britt show that they were directed to not make arrests unless "absolutely necessary." Further, the slides, which were used for pre-deployment training, explicitly noted that making arrests was not the goal and that protesters should be left alone unless there was a direct threat to the life of a Justice or their family.
In other words, the order to not enforce the law came from the top of the DOJ.

The slides were handed over by a DOJ whistleblower who saw Garland's testimony in early March. What they show is that Garland lied to Congress by saying that the decisions to not arrest were left with the Marshals on the ground. In fact, the DOJ had instructed them to not make arrests and specifically chose not to enforce federal law prohibiting the protests that took place.
In response, Garland insisted that he hadn't seen the slides, which went so far as to tell the Marshals that they need to get permission from the US Attorney before making an arrest.

The article that caught my eye was sadly behind their pay wall, but the teaser is an analysis of a George Conway tweet:

I don’t agree with this view as analysis, but it’s possible that DeSantis could agree with it...So just for a moment, let’s pretend that it’s July 1 and DeSantis is out. What does the primary dynamic look like?
