The suggestion is that these people of modest means are not donating these huge sums to Democrats, but rather, that very wealthy people and corporations are making these huge donations to Democrats -- which ActBlue is then recording as donations from "common people."

Money-laundering, the suggestion goes. Disguising the true source of income.

Kira Davis at RedState:

An Arizona resident, age 80, was recorded as having made 18,672 individual contributions for a total of $170,221.37. The data shows her making contributions up to ten times a day at times. When approached by an OMG reporter, the woman expressed shock at the amount, and claimed she most certainly did not make those donations and was completely unaware that donations were being made in her name with that frequency and for that total amount.

So who is really donating to ActBlue?

Update: A commenter suggests that this is bribe money laundered to the Democrat party through unwitting US straw-donors from... Ukraine.

Can't rule it out!

ActBlue is a middleman, as far as I know. Not all of it is direct campaign finance. You can specify what you want ActBlue to spend the money on and they'll funnel it around. I think it's closer to a PAC than anything else. You can give as much as you want to a PAC, but the restrictions are on what the PAC can give to a candidate or party. But they can give it to other PACs or use it for direct political activities.

A few years ago I missed a Federal jury summons for two weeks, and got a nasty-gram saying that they would issue a warrant. But I had not received any notifications. they were cool with that and I reported the following week.
