Teenager Sues Doctors and Health Care Company For Cutting Her Healthy Breasts Off, Telling Her Parents That They Had to Choose Between "A Dead Daughter or a Live Son"

A teenager is suing a health care company and the doctors who put her on controversial puberty-blocking drugs at age 12 and removed her healthy breasts in a double-mastectomy surgery when she was just 13 years old, accusing them of "intentional fraud and concealment." Layla Jane, an 18-year-old detransitioner represented by attorney Harmeet Dhillon, claims in a letter of intent to sue that she was rushed into the life-altering medical services while she and her family were not properly informed of risks and other vital information, such as the rate of desistence for childhood gender dysphoria. "Layla immediately started puberty blockers and testosterone at age 12, and had a double mastectomy at age 13," the legal letter states. "Two of Layla's initial providers advised that per Kaiser's official policies, Layla could not start cross-sex hormones until she was 16 and advised that surgery was not permissible until age 18," the letter claims. "But, soon thereafter, Layla ended up in the hands of Dr. [Susanne E.] Watson, Dr. [Lisa Kristine] Taylor, and Dr. [Winnie Mao Yiu] Tong. These doctors immediately approved Layla for cross-sex hormones and a double mastectomy at ages 12-13, without performing an adequate evaluation and treatment of Layla's extensive mental health co-morbidities." "I don't think I should have been allowed to change my sex before I could legally consent to have sex," Layla said during a Fox News appearance this past week.The doctors told her that her extensive co-morbidities -- that is, her pile of psychological problems -- would be cured if the family just let them chop off their 13-year-old daughter's tits. There is no medical evidence to support this. They are lying to children and parents just to make money lopping off girls' tits. Meanwhile Joe Biden, who used to shower with his too-old daughter, wants to pass a national law guaranteeing doctors the right to amputate childrens' organs.

This is dumb. Yes, she has regrets, but that's not the legal basis of her case. The legal basis of her case is that doctors didn't inform her of many key and salient facts like most people will grow out of believing they're transgender if no medical intervention is done.
If future doctors want to protect themselves against this sort of lawsuit, they'll just make the patient or guardian sign a bunch of paperwork affirming they're aware of these things.

We used to joke that doctors specialized in psychiatry seeking a diagnosis and cure for their own mental illness, but there is an element of truth to that. I suspect many of these doctors, nurse practitioners and psychologists doing this counseling have unresolved gender issues of their own and are imposing them on vulnerable children to soothe their own feelings of guilt or dysmorphism. We know this is true of Richard Levine's prior medical practice

I think I remember the study that it comes from. It's self-reported (a major issue) and only came from people still attending their psychologist sessions within, yes, a few months of the procedure.

I majored in psychology in college. One of the things I noticed very quickly is that people who study psychology are extremely weird. And I don’t exclude myself from that diagnosis.

If that's the study I've seen before, its a ludicrous one, because they checked back three months after the surgery, and it was a stupidly low number of people.

Female to male are almost always mastectomies followed by hormones.

I had an elderly professor, a Harvard graduate (back when it meant something positive), who looked around the small table with maybe a dozen people in his fourth year Abnormal Psychology class. He looked at each of us in turn and tried to guess why we were in the class. He was of the opinion that we were all screwed up in some way, I truly do believe.
He couldn't make a guess as to me, I seem to recall. My wife, working on her psych degree, he exactly nailed - parental abuse. I was there because as an employer I was trying to figure out some strategies to deal with the nut case employees I could afford.

This is an area of frustration to me. You can actually find someone attractive without wanting to have sex with them. It is honestly possible, people have done it since Adam. THis is a very real thing but modern society reduces everything to grunting monkey sex without any aesthetics or appreciation for beauty.
Two guys cannot be friends without being queer. You cannot appreciate a woman's beauty without the pressure to think you want to have sex with them. You cannot compliment someone without everyone winking and nudging each other.
I get the fun and joking that goes along with the binary scale, but that's just another symptom of the disease.

Why Is Any 9 Year Old Going To A "Therapist?"
My daughter at 6 went to a therapist because her father left on her 6th birthday and never looked back. That makes a kid a bit troubled. She is still very, very angry. I will wait for his flying monkeys to attack now as he found it important to stalk me here lately. Because lord knows the guy who ditched all 3 of his kids and is seeking me out to this day is the one to support. 🙄

Those studies are ridiculously defined. For example, following the patients out only a couple months, and mostly on self reported data. The ones "lost to the system" most definitely skew more to regret, versus the ones who follow up for their regular hormones, etc and so are followed in the studies. That and subjective end points. Total garbage studies.

One of the things that drove Britain's gain to world supremacy was that the Wesley brothers essentially changed the moral calculus for British society so that the lower economic classes learned the values of restraint, etc. that are now ridiculed as Victorian. They also were able to better themselves either in GB or its colonies.

Malpractice laws are state driven, not federal. And Alito, though he says the Dobbs decision is for abortion only, essentially lays the framework the states to have complete jurisdiction on all things medical with no federal interference available, including through trying to force states to provide these services for employees on govt health service benefit programs.
It's total blather. And stupid because the public is massively in favor of these restrictions. Democrat states are keeping these things from being enacted for political reasons, not because their constituents don't want them.
