  • The 2023 Asus ROG Zephyrus Duo 16 also doesn't have the four essential keys. (NotebookCheck)

This is partly a downgrade from the 2022 model, as they've replace the 4k main screen with a 2560x1600 240Hz model, while keeping the second screen at 4k width. To be fair, 2560x1600 is pretty good at 16", but it's actually lower resolution than the 14" model's 2880x1800.

While it doesn't have the 4EK, what it does have is a 16 core Ryzen 7945HX, Nvidia RTX 4090 graphics (though the laptop version, which is equivalent to a desktop 4080), two DDR5 SODIMM slots for up to 64GB of RAM (and up to 96GB in the near future), two M.2 slots for up to 16TB of storage, two USB-C 3.2 ports (though not USB 4 / Thunderbolt), two USB-A ports, HDMI 2.1, 2.5Gbps wired Ethernet, a headphone jack, and a full-size SD card slot.

Personally I'd rather have a lower-powered graphics solution - a 4060 would be fine - and a 4k 60Hz main screen, but since I'm not going to buy one that doesn't really matter.

  • Codon is a compiler that takes Python code and turns it into binaries that run as fast as C unless you use Unicode in which case it collapses into a screaming heap. (Exaloop)

I hate it when that happens.

  • AMD is testing its own big/little CPU design. (Tom's Hardware)

As seen in mobile chips - which now often have three levels of CPU core - and on Intel's 12th and 13th generation, these designs have a small number of full-sized cores - high performance, high power - and a larger number of slower but more efficient cores. In Intel's case, the E cores are half the speed of the P cores but a quarter the size.

AMD seems to be taking a more moderate approach, because the low-power cores are still based on Zen 4. These are aimed at smaller devices - ultralight laptops, for example, and portable gaming consoles like the Steam Deck (which uses an earlier custom AMD chip).

The range is near Bloemfontein, a mid-size city about 4 hours from Johannesburg.

We had armed escort to and from Johannesburg Airport. The hotel was inside a gated compound. Otherwise, we stayed in groups when we went out and didn't have any issues.

Single shot bolt rifles, limited to .308 win or 223 Rem by rule, designed for shooting 300-1000 yards (300-900M). Target sights; so open, aperture sights that are finely adjustable. All shooting is prone with a sling. The target itself is rather large, with a round aiming black of 44" at 1000 yards, however your goal is to keep all your shots in the 20" 5 ring and better still inside the 10" V ring. We (US Team) use handloads, some of the other countries use commercial loaded ammo.

The World Championships are held every four years (when the world is not shut down for the coof) and moves from Country to country. It's SA's turn.

The parts of the country that I have seen, remind me of Detroit and New Mexico. This year it is quite green because they are getting lots of rain.

31 Evening and morning to all the Folken out there! 'Tis cool and fresh here, 50 F. (about 20 degrees below what it normally is, and much less humid). I meant to sleep later, but things happened, including Stirling the black kitten/cat purring next to me. He's much more affectionate when he doesn't have the girl kitten to distract him.

We went to the local Hooters last night. I'd always thought Linda believed the place was practically a strip club or something. The other day, though, when I made my usual joke as we drove by that we ought to go there, she said, "Why not?" It's a sports bar that hires attractive waitresses, that's all. I'll bet when they started 40 years ago, the girls were *really* smoking hot. Last night, unfortunately, several of them, while cute, were a little heavier than they ought to be for their heights. The hostess was swimsuit-calendar material, though, and the food ($$$ by my standards) was good.

41 Warm is better than cold

Posted by: Skip at March 19, 2023 05:45 AM (xhxe8)

42 I worked outdoors in an un-air-conditioned van, driving and carrying small packages and large, for too many years in this foul climate to think "summer," at least here, is glamorous or desirable. In Denver, yes, I enjoyed the first warm days after the winter, because it was a change instead of the same thing. The warmth was dry; and it cooled off overnight, so that even in July you could drive out to breakfast at 7 or even 8 am with the windows down.

Try that here and you'll be a sticky mess when you get to the diner, and you'll freeze in the A/C while your sweat dries.

70 What really happened at Stanford:

As for my judicial decisions, among the several hundred I’ve written, the protesters were especially vexed by U.S. v. Varner. A federal prisoner serving a term for attempted receipt of child pornography (and with a previous state conviction for possession of child porn) petitioned our court to order that he be called by feminine pronouns. As my opinion explained, federal courts can’t control what pronouns people use. The Stanford protesters saw it differently: My opinion had “denied a transwoman’s existence.”

And these people will be the lawyers that represent law and order in the next 30 years.

Seriously, she lies her ass off. Here is the algorithm:

First, she lie.

Then, when you bust her straight up on her lie, confront right to her lyin' ho face, then she all sorry, want you to help her do better.

Last fall, The Times (United Kingdom) ran a hit piece on those who are unvaccinated against the Wuhan coronavirus (Covid-19), calling them a “global menace who must be defeated.” It turns out that this piece is patently false, as a whopping 92 percent of all “covid” deaths that year occurred in people who were triple-“vaccinated” for the alleged “virus.”

Nope. None of their grades, not even the manufactured ones, are any good. Failed is failed with no embellishments. Some schools now don't give anything below a C so even a real zero is C.
I remember many years ago, soon after returning from South Africa for good, I read where some Harvard Law administrator *proudly* proclaimed that no one got anything below a B- . Very naive at the time, I assumed that meant that the education level of students was especially high at Havvad Law School. Little did I know.

As far as the Coof "vaccines" go, see the latest Substack from Steve Kirsch. The latest Aussie data (when analyzed properly) demonstrates the Coof "vaccines" are 24x (conservative assessment) more dangerous than the average vaccine.

The most conservative estimate of serious adverse events finds the so-called "vaccines" are 24 times the mean value of all other vaccines.

I'm certain it's due to the same infiltration we've watched occur everywhere. Wear it as a skinsuit, etc.

I posted it a couple of days ago but we're seeing lots of folks trying to get elected positions in local Republican parties who were Democrats a year or two ago. "Oh, we're fed up with the way things are!" except it's all just an act, because in the next breath they'll say "I don't believe in banning books, though!"

I assume it's an organized and planned nationwide action to do to the local (R) party what has been done everywhere and with everything.

IOW, any serious, normal, common sense assessment of these "vaccines" shows they should pulled from the market immediately and never given again.

And that's the most conservative, benefit of the doubt assessment possible. They are likely much more dangerous than 24x the mean vaccine.

The Covid "vaccines" are the most lethal pharma product every put on the market, and the entire Covid response by the medical-industrial-public health complex is a crime against humanity.

Had we done nothing, the death toll would've been far less. Public Health is a menace to public health.

Doesn't seem strange to me at all that two major states losing populations by the minute would have a major outflow of deposits leading to bank failures. Tech layoffs in a state which has horrific housing costs would have those workers sharing apartments and saving a ton of money for a down payment. Oops, no job, take the money and run.

161 How much energy is lost transmitting electricity from windmill located in a hostile environment miles out to sea? Do they ever figure the cost of maintenance and cabling in the estimates of how much "free"' electricity is being generated?

You are completely and totally missing the point of windmill power.

Normal, ethical, efficient business models would never build any windmill to put on the grid. Inject politicians, avarice, corruption, stupidity, waste and arrogance you get windmills in the ocean and all of the pathologies that follow because of it: maximum up-front costs, uninsurability, pie-in-the-sky maintenance estimates, rent seeking, ignored environmental destruction, regulating/pricing out sensible, stable and proven alternatives, debt, market imbalances, etc.

Destruction and destabilization is what government does best. Just get out of the way and let them do their magic.

Which was what I was trying to point out just a moment ago. Define "practical".

To normal, sane people, practical would be to create dispatchable electricity in a cost-effective manner.

"Practical" to a government bureaucrat or Party member is any vector that increases their wealth, power and access to children for sex.

175 There's a difference between being arrested and being arraigned. If this NY DA really has an arrest warrant signed off on I'd be mildly surprised... but NY so... it's all for the propaganda anyway.

Yet arresting a high profile person like Trump on questionable charges is fraught with danger for the DA and judge who signs off on it, normally. I doubt that's the case here, but this is a purely political move being made at the behest of Democrat power brokers who are using an incredibly stupid and ignorant DA to do their bidding.

Whether they're attempting Fedsurection II is debatable.

It's more likely the goal is to bleed off money that Trump simply can't afford to spend on defending himself while funding his own reelection campaign. On that count they'll likely succeed to some degree.

>>Still can't wrap my head around how a State prosecutor in New York is going to have trump hand cuffed, perp walked so cnn/msnbc can film it and booked in the state of Florida.

When the state wants to make an example of a subject, they do a 3am SWAT raid and frog march the person in front of cameras, for Democrats, if they bother to charge them with anything at all, are allowed to have an orderly surrender, booking and appearance before a judge.

Being that Trump has an SS detail, the SWATing and frog marching are out of the question.

So they are going to allow Trump turn himself in.

If the SS allows Trump to be hand cuffed and perp walked by the DA, then you can add them to the garbage pile of our corrupted institutions.

We all know there is a double standard, there's just nothing we can do about it.

The Arkansas AG could have brought charges against the Clinton's and their foundation at any time using the same novel theories being employed against Trump, they didn't.

The left uses all of the instrumentalities of their power to advance their agenda and destroy their enemies.

So until that dynamic changes, Republicans will be prosecuted and Democrats will get 7 figure book deals and their crack head sons and daughters will skate and live the lives of princes and princesses.

Could try but because he is a SITTING President it might be difficult, but any County DA can charge any democrat if they have standing. Just ask Tom Delay, or any of the other GOP politicians who were charged by a local DA, had their name dragged through the months for months/years, only to have the charges cropped -- long after they've stepped down, lost re-election, become so damaged their career is permanently damaged.

They do occasionally bang up Donks, Sheldon Silver, Michael Madigan in Illinois are prime examples, but those are simply the existing power structure getting rid of a politician that doesn't want to go quietly into that good night.

But those tend to be lightly covered and mostly low key affairs.

The main problem we have is that the GOP is largely an illegitimate political party and there seems to be nothing that we can do that will not make them the venal, corrupt charlatans they are.
