The Morning Report — 3/16/23

staypuftlindsey.jpg

Good morning, kids. So, Greta Thunberg, aka Scoldilocks, the moderately-retarded troll whom the Left uses as shield and cudgel to make you submit to the climate change myth has reportedly deleted a tweet from five years ago claiming, and I quote:

“A top climate scientist is warning that climate change will wipe out all of humanity unless we stop using fossil fuels over the next five years.”

I'm not going to respond here with snark and derision (who opened for Seals and Crofts on the Midnight Special in '74) because, truth be told, all things considered, I was kind of hoping for that prediction to come true. Mostly in areas of Democrat influence, but I digress. If humanity is actually wiped out this year or very soon thereafter, it won't be because of a hoax perpetrated to scare us into building a mass grave to the 11th century. It will be because of the greed- and arrogance-induced insanity of people wanting armageddon for fun and profit. Mostly the latter. I give you the absolute stupidity of Lindsay Graham:

Reacting to the apparent downing of an unmanned U.S. drone over the Black Sea by two Russian Su-27 aircraft, Graham suggested firing down any Russian aircraft that approaches an American asset over international waters.

“Well, we should hold them accountable and say that, ‘If you ever get near another U.S. asset flying in international waters, your airplane will be shot down,’” Graham proclaimed.

“What would Ronald Reagan do right now? He would start shooting Russian planes down if they were threatening our assets,” he added.

Um, no. He wouldn't. The fact that this figurative and likely literal cocksucker would suggest that is insulting beyond description. While doubtless we always have had surveillance aircraft patrolling in international waters close to our enemies, as well as spy planes and satellites photographing and snooping every square foot of their territories, this was an unwarranted provocation on our part, knowing full well the heightened tensions over the past year, and even before. To his credit, and no doubt as a way to burnish his foreign policy credentials prior to an expected announcement of his candidacy for 2024, Ron DeSantis stated the obvious:

“While the U.S. has many vital national interests — securing our borders, addressing the crisis of readiness within our military, achieving energy security and independence, and checking the economic, cultural, and military power of the Chinese Communist Party — becoming further entangled in a territorial dispute between Ukraine and Russia is not one of them,” DeSantis said in a statement. “The Biden administration’s virtual ‘blank check’ funding of this conflict for ‘as long as it takes,’ without any defined objectives or accountability, distracts from our country’s most pressing challenges. Without question, peace should be the objective.”

He continued, “The U.S. should not provide assistance that could require the deployment of American troops or enable Ukraine to engage in offensive operations beyond its borders. F-16s and long-range missiles should therefore be off the table. These moves would risk explicitly drawing the United States into the conflict and drawing us closer to a hot war between the world’s two largest nuclear powers. That risk is unacceptable.”

Putting aside an abhorrence of war, as well as my personal dislike and distaste for Vladimir Putin, his invasion of Ukraine is none of our damned business. Never was and never will be. The phraseology might understate it but Ron DeSantis is absolutely correct when he states that this is a "border dispute" between Russia and Ukraine. The fact is it's been going on for hundreds of years between two peoples, though closely linked nevertheless regard each other as distinct, and with suspicion as well as enmity. Fools like Lindsay Graham as well as the faculty lounge circle-jerkers of Foggy Bottom who view the world through the navel-gazing lens of self-loathing and hubris as to how the world ought to work are blind to it.

Plain and simple, it IS a border dispute that we have zero national interest in getting involved, not least of which the potential to escalate into a situation with a nation that has a few thousand nuclear warheads on ICBMs that might still be aimed at us. And, in the immortal intonations of Jack Woltz, "Let me be even more frank with you!" Had the assholes in Foggy Bottom as well as both Bill Clinton and Dubya not promised to guarantee Ukraine's security in exchange for dismantling the ex-Soviet Union's nukes on its territory post the collapse of that nation and, more crucially not blatantly reneged on its promise to the Russian Federation not to expand NATO eastward, this war might not have even started in the first place. Ditto and for sure, had the assholes not rigged 2020 and overthrown the government because of "mean Tweets." But that's Monday morning quarterbacking.

Another factor that I think is not a minor one in this whole confrontation with Putin is the fact that Hillary Clinton and the intelligence community manufactured out of whole cloth the hideous smear camp against Trump that Vladimir Putin and he colluded to sabotage her 2016 campaign and that Trump is a Russian agent run directly by Putin. That titanic, hideous bromide has made warmongers out of peaceniks (ironically against a nation they once supported wholeheartedly when it was the Marxist mothership) and allied them with the very same neocons they were shouting "No Blood For Oil!" against Dubya, et al.

Predictably, the commonsense remarks evoked ire from Washington’s biggest neocons, who have emotionally latched themselves onto Ukraine and Zelensky like a magnet to a refrigerator.

“Whelp DeSantis just threw in with the crazies. Talk about a misread,” whined former GOP congressman and Jan. 6 Committee performance artist Adam Kinzinger.

“DeSantis actually called Russia’s grotesque, aggressive invasion of a sovereign country a ‘territorial dispute.’ Now both front-runners for the GOP nomination are weaker on Russian aggression than Joe Biden,” said neocon and renowned pearl-clutcher David French. “Astonishing. Dangerous.”

Other neocons to voice their irrelevant disapproval with DeSantis’ remarks include Bill Kristol, David Frum, and Jonah Goldberg, among others.

In addition to DeSantis, other potential 2024 GOP presidential primary contenders to respond to Carlson’s inquiry include former President Donald Trump, who argued it is “far more important” to “support regime change in the United States” than in Russia and voiced support for a negotiated peace settlement.

Former Vice President Mike Pence, however, took the opposite position from Trump and DeSantis, writing the U.S. is “paying the Ukrainians to fight Russia so we won’t have to fight Russians ourselves.” In his statement, Pence went on to claim the “talk of nuclear war is a bullying tactic” used by Putin to launch the invasion and that there “is no room for Putin apologists in the Republican Party.”

Out of all of these lowlifes, as well as bipedal amoebic dysentry like Joy Behar engaging in hilarious, un-self-aware projection that DeSantis and Trump are . . .

“. . . extremely naive and stupid” for thinking Russian President Vladimir Putin will stop his military advancements with the invasion of Ukraine.

. . . Mike Pence should shut his fork-tongued, backstabbing cakehole. You're an irrelevant, RINO stooge with no shot in hell. I smelled a rat after your RFRA cave and shook my head when Trump picked you as veep. As bad as Reagan choosing Bush Sr. Maybe worse in some regards.

And that brings me to Trump. I realize that politics ain't beanbag but he is making a huge mistake in his attacks on DeSantis, insofar as calling him names. The two of them are right on so many things from trade and the economy to the cultural rot to this rush to get our hair mussed to preserve protect and defend the Deep State grift in Kiev.

I wish Trump would just run on things like his electrifying trade package, as well as opposition to this insane rush to war in Ukraine instead of the name-calling. Worse, making the stolen 2020 election the centerpiece of your entire campaign. It should never be forgotten, nor forgiven. But it is now an historical event that is etched forever in diamond-encrusted iridium. You probably will not or cannot run with DeSantis and vice versa. But the DeSanctimonius thing and name-calling is stale and a turnoff. And now an ethics complaint against the DeSantis campaign? Gevalt.

34 I always took that tweet to mean not that the world would end at year 5, but we would be damaged past the point of no return.

I actually remember when that tweet came out originally. I took it as an attempt to damage Trumps election prospects with the idea that "you don't want Trump to preside over these crucial 5 years".

I also hoped that if we got past year 5 still using fossil fuels, maybe they'll STFU since the damage will be done and nothing else could be done about it. Kinda like getting a lung cancer diagnosis and thinking Fuck it as you light up another.

Notice how these piles of shit hurl elephants.

When that tool of Satan says "paying the Ukrainians" he doesn't mean "to fight Russia", he means simply laundering money, gifting the bureaucrats and stamping out billionaire oligarchs under the narrative of "fighting a war".

And what ass did the idea come out of that We The People had an obligation/duty/whatever to "fight Russia"?

Isn't Russia one of FUSA's primary clients for purchasing Uranium? Isn't Russia a critical part of the global supply chain of providing food, energy and industrial materials?

"Fighting Russia" is destroying We The People and impoverishing the globe for Babylon DC's vanity.

53 Everyone is "conservative" about the things they know well. I have experience with failing banks.

The Left wants to blame SVB on the Right easing up on some Dodd-Frank rules. Total horseshit. SVB was incredibly badly managed and its regulators were blind.

SVB was no ordinary bank. 97% of its deposits were in accounts too large to be FDIC insured, so a run was always waiting to happen. Starting in 2020 it ballooned its "held to maturity" investment portolio from $16B to $98B, and nearly doubled its total assets in doing so. And it went long. "Duration" went from four years to over six years. If you know banking this was criminally reckless.

75 Former Vice President Mike Pence, however, took the opposite position from Trump and DeSantis, writing the U.S. is "paying the Ukrainians to fight Russia so we won’t have to fight Russians ourselves."

That is Democrat level stupidity. Was Russia planning on invading our soil or any of our vital allies? Not that I recall. There was approximately zero chance a fight with Russia before our involvement Ukraine and now it seem like there is a realistic chance of that happening. If we do get into a shooting war with them it will be idiocy like this that brought us there.

77 While bashing Graham for being an absolute lunatic last night, Tucker had retired Colonel Douglas MacGregor on his show to discuss the Russia-Ukraine war. MacGregor said quite correctly what anyone who has actually watched the region for years knows, the US helped start this war by idiotically hinting that Ukraine would be invited to join NATO. Couple that with the coup the Obama/Biden administration ran in 2014 that took down a pro-Russia government and here we are.

Putin has been very clear for years that was a red line for him and if we crossed it there would be war. It doesn't make you a Putin apologist to live in the real world where the leaders of other countries can and do act on their own interests whether we like it or not.

The neocons chose this war and they are promoting it and demonizing Putin to hide their own culpability. That's the reality and no amount of Ukraine flag emojis are going to change it.

PS. Much of the Russia collusion hoax crap came from sources in Ukraine.

80 Putting aside an abhorrence of war, as well as my personal dislike and distaste for Vladimir Putin, his invasion of Ukraine is none of our damned business. Never was and never will be.
++++
I disagree, insofar as I think that we largely provoked Putin and created the conditions that precipitated his invasion. That being the case, one could argue that we have an obligation to defend Ukraine since we were instrumental in getting them into this mess.

It *is* our business to some degree. That said - and shitty as this is - I don't agree that we should continue pouring the wealth of nations down Ukraine, nor do I think we should put our men in harm's way over it. It sucks for (and to be) Ukraine, that's for sure. The machinations and activities on our side that helped push things over the edge into war weren't worth it. The political, economic and personal games that helped lead to this are not worth the blood and treasure it has already cost, let alone what more may lie in the future.

84 Another factor that I think is not a minor one in this whole confrontation with Putin is the fact that Hillary Clinton and the intelligence community manufactured out of whole cloth the hideous smear camp against Trump that Vladimir Putin and he colluded to sabotage her 2016 campaign and that Trump is a Russian agent run directly by Putin.
++++
It's the Big Lie that is used to rationalize or justify all things. I also wonder how much the Big Lie was a factor in our provocation of Russia since Biden took over. I sort of doubt it was actually a major factor - what has happened under Biden is just a continuation of what's happened since the fall of the USSR - but I do remain curious.

**********

JJ, I rate this comparison as "apt". Have you ever seen Joy Behar move across the stage?

As a class of organism, amoebae are defined by their unique movement patterns. This movement strategy produces forward movement via the following three steps:

1. “ballooning” the plasma membrane forward. This distinct rearrangement is known as a pseudopodium or “false foot”
2. the pseudopodium attaches to the substrate, and is filled with cytosol;
3. the rear portion of the amoeba releases its attachment to the substrate and is propelled forward.

F-16s and long-range missiles should therefore be off the table. These moves would risk explicitly drawing the United States into the conflict and drawing us closer to a hot war between the world’s two largest nuclear powers. That risk is unacceptable.”
++++
In this case. I'd like to see DeSantis flesh this out a little bit. I agree that risking war between major nuclear powers - especially when one of those powers' conventional forces are fairly weak - is extremely dangerous and Ukraine is *not* worth that risk.

But DeSantis think *anything* is worth that risk? Is "War with Russia" a so-called "red line" that must *never* be crossed no matter what, or is it merely that Ukraine ain't worth it? That's something I would be interested to know DeSantis' thoughts on because for me, I don't think it should be a "red line" because there probably *are* conditions where that risk would be worth it even though the conditions right now are not.

96 Back on June 20, 2018 Iran shot down one of two RQ-4A Global Hawk BAMS-D surveillance drones with a surface-to-air missile over the Strait of Hormuz. The drone was specifically modified for the Navy and is about the size of a 737. We didn't "go to war" with Iran over that, mostly because there was no loss of life.

The MQ-9 "Reaper" was also unmanned and is smaller, but can carry weapons that the RQ-4A cannot. There's been no word about whether it was armed or not.

101 They actually had an investigation (oh boy!) in 1967 about the Gulf of Tonkin incident. McGeorge Bundy or McNamara claimed he had "classified" info that it was totally an attack on US navy ships. I think he might have been lying about that.

Then they said it was the "functional equivalent" of a declaration of war by congress. Well allrighty then!

I still maintain there is some sort of chicanery involved, for example - the stunt that Henry Fonda's alleged daughter pulled would have been a capital offense. And every war since.

If there is indeed a compelling national interest, then it is the duty of congress to vote on it. There's no way around it. I get it, they want to act like spectators on anything and everything, but they wanted that job.

All this open ended shit has just caused successive disasters.

I remember coming in to town during the lockdown days and seeing flocks of these kids on their bikes, traversing broad street en masse. I thought it was kind of cool then.

then later they all seemingly got ATVs (with covid cash?!?! or money earned..how?) and THAT is when it got crazy, huge parties in the streets, doing donuts and zooming around. still kind of interesting/cool but more intimidating.

Look at the NGOs and other government funded groups we set up in Ukraine along with the help of scum like Soros. All of the same "grass roots" activists and disinformation groups they have been trying to shove down our throats were set up there first and that was what helped fuel the excuse for the coup.

Our own government ran a color revolution against us to give us Biden. They are still running much of it. We did the same thing in Ukraine and tried in Kazakstan but Putin helped shut that one down. People forget largely because the media doesn't report it but days after the 2014 in Ukraine Putin took Crimea. That wasn't a coincidence. And he is not looking to give the rest to NATO.

It applies to anyone and everyone with your stupid fucking ideas.

In practical terms, though, it is largely an anti-white slur. Most of the public Wokists are honkies. It applies to anyone, but in practice it mostly applies to college-bred white idiots. But yeah, keep going with your "white supremacist dog whistle," you fuckin' idiot.

I think he probably can be. Not ignored entirely, but I don't think he needs to be actively checked. If we look at his extraterritorial engagements, there's always been a precipitating event that came from the West and specifically from us.

His invasion of Georgia was due to continued eastward expansion of NATO. His invasion and seizure of the Crimea was due to a second "color revolution" in Ukraine in a short period of time, and one that installed an overtly Russia-hostile government through illegitimate means. His invasion of Kazakhstan in 2021 was due to an attempted "color revolution" in that country.

His foreign incursions have all been because one of his "red lines" was crossed. There are only two: no more eastward expansion of NATO, no more color revolutions. When we violate those, he invades his neighbors. Are his red lines right? Are they justified? Does he have the right to draw them? Those are all debatable. That he drew them is not, nor is it debatable that he has a history of doing this when they are violated and of not doing this when they're not.

Abboott did not do shit. This was all orchestrated by a black (D) state senator from Houston, Harold Dutton Jr.

He created the 5 strikes law the REQUIRES TEA to take over. Abbott also gave them 7 strikes as he let them slide a year when they went from F to D and then then next year was worse. He could have done this in 2019 or 2020.
Abbott is a small petty feckless man.

And that brings me to Trump. I realize that politics ain't beanbag but he is making a huge mistake in his attacks on DeSantis, insofar as calling him names.

I'd crawl over broken glass to vote for Trump again but every day he attacks someone he should align with that pile of glass gets smaller. I'm not a big fan of egotistical people and Trump needs to stay positive, not suck the air out of the room with negativity.

147 t's the Big Lie that is used to rationalize or justify all things. I also wonder how much the Big Lie was a factor in our provocation of Russia since Biden took over.

I believe that all things UA is what Trump was trying to discover. The impeachment over a phone call was about communicating to Trump in unambiguous terms that this is forbidden territory.

I do believe AF is related to UA in that continued pointless involvement in AF couldn't coexist with another pointless MIC operation in UA.

Given that this situation has been under process since the Obama reign, I'm 100% certain that UA is primarily about money laundering, MIC enrichment and to a lesser extend bioweapons - otherwise this is just yet another border war.

In contrast, AF and XK were MIC + narcotics trafficking.

No kidding. Look at the "sanctions". Has it really impeded the flow of oil and other Russian commodities? Instead it a created and magnified a global blackmarket. We aren't talking about smuggling across a few kilos of cocaine and fentanyl, we are talking world class tankers and cargo ships operating totally outside the costly regulatory state. There is huge money in the arbitrage of contraband of necessary items (oil, minerals, food) and by positioning oneself in industries that just happen to source similar goods as to what is being "sanctioned" there is the huge markup. Nonsense. This is what Trump has always done. He hammered all his opponents in 2016 and then made nice when the time is right. He humiliated Little Marco and then basically accused Ted Cruz' father of killing Kennedy. He's been comparatively gentle with Ron so far.

DeSantis is running an unannounced campaign and he has recruited a team of "media influencers" to do his dirty work while he appears to stay above he fray. Trump does his own dirty work.

Credit Suisse has been a risky, fragile structure for years. Same with Deutsche Bank. The French majors are somewhat healthier, but I wouldn't rule out problems at BNP Paribas or Credit Agricole, either. Italy's Unicredit is a perennial risk.

Credit Suisse and Deutsche both managed to hang on through the Euro Crisis, but it took a major toll and both are profoundly damaged institutions that are so huge and important that they manage to lumber along. The European banking system is fraught with peril and has been for some time. Eventually, one or more of those plates is going to stop spinning.

If you want potential financial system contagion, you can find it easily in Europe.

Remember when somebody, not the saintly George Bush, put out that John McCain had an out of wedlock baby during the primary in South Carolina against Bush?

Posted by: JackStraw at March 16, 2023 09:39 AM

Can't say I remember. I tuned out once McCain became the front runner. Or maybe it was after he was out of cash and some huge infusion put him back in the race. Then a week before the election he was bragging about being on some ship armed and a with a destination, bragging about being ready to attack Cuba and start WW3 and I knew he was sunk. Women are half the voters and WW3 is not one of their priorities. Which goes back to Trump, and how some of the stuff he says is not going to appeal to them at all.

283 U.S. DOD Transcript, Secretary of Defense Austin III, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Army Gen. Milley, 11/16/22, in part: "They didn't have to do this, but they did, and they have violated Ukrainian sovereignty and they violated territorial integrity of Ukraine. It is in complete contradiction to the basic rules that underlined the United Nations Charter established at the end of World War II. This is one of the most significant attempts to destroy the rules-based order that World War II was fought all about, and we, the United States are determined to continue to support Ukraine with the means to defend themselves for as long as it takes."

The Truman Doctrine, 3/47. Pres. Eisenhower deploys Military Assistance Advisory Group to train the Army of the Republic of Vietnam, 11/55. Pres. Johnson uses the clash between US Navy ships & N. Vietnamese boats in the Gulf of Tonkin to increase US involvement in the war & the 1st U.S. regular combat units arrive in Vietnam on 3/8/65. (Operation Rolling Thunder). Pres. Nixon's Operation Freedom Deal, 5/70 - 8/73.

288 J.J., agree with you bigly re Trump's namecalling of DeSantis. It makes Trump unlikeable because it is clearly unfair. We love Trump as a leader because of his optimism, honesty, kindness, authenticity. Any time he appears to be mean spirited it works against that.

Posted by: Emily at March 16, 2023 10:29 AM (5yn3N)

289 For every good thing Trump does, he stomps on his dick immediately after. That's how it was during his tenure, and how it would be if he got a second shot at the throne. He's always been an asshole, but he clearly hasn't learned restraint or focus after 2020 which disqualifies him completely IMO.

Look, he is who he is and I've seen that for the past 40 freaking years. He's a bull in a china shop, which is fine. But he served his purpose in waking people up - a bull in a china shop is exactly what was needed to show everyone how bad DC really is. Mission accomplished.

Now STFU and get out of the way so that someone who knows how this all works can get in there & fight the Deep State with their own tools.

291 So for people saying not to talk about the stolen 2020 election, is it too early to discuss the stolen 2024 election? Or, are waiting for election night to be "surprised" again?

Posted by: K at March 16, 2023 10:59 AM (37NLk)

292 President Trump should stop harassing Governor DeSantis. President Trump should run for a 2nd term and DeSantis should stay as governor and focus on building his credentials for having 8 years after the domestic terrorists of the demoncratic party and their enablers are perp walked. There IS only 1 thing that can fix America and it IS horrible but necessary.

293 Huh, who'd have thought that right around the time that these gutless wonders in Congress want to start playing brinksmanship games with the largest nuclear power on the planet, that military recruiting goes down.

I wonder if those two things are related?

Anyone want to step up to die in a tactical nuclear hellfire so Lindsey Graham can talk tough and impress his boyfriend?

If that is aimed at me, I am NOT saying to not talk about 2020. That cannot and must never be forgotten nor forgiven.

What I am saying is, that alone cannot be the central tenet of a presidential election campaign. You can weave the theft into the disaster that followed and what you will do to see it never happens again.

But avenge me and vote for me as your theme is not going to cut it.

295 Trump Super PAC Files Ethics Complaint Against DeSantis

If Donald Trump wants to lose my vote in the primaries, this is the way to do it. It's dirty pool.

296 CBD, re Trump, you need to then call out FoxNews - DeSantis' globalist donor class - for attacking Trump while shielding RdS. Fox has banned Trump.

Trump is only returning fire like usual; RdS' 1st shot was not decrying the Mar-a-Logo raid last August.

Oh, and another thing... If Trump wins he would welcome RdS in any way; RdS has already left Trump behind.

297 "I wish Trump would just run on things like his electrifying trade package, as well as opposition to this insane rush to war in Ukraine instead of the name-calling."

Trump will be the nominee. Desantis is running a shadow campaign and using tax payers money to fund his run. He should resign and run, but is waiting for them to change the rule. He's not going to beat Trump. Mark it.
