The U series is rated at a 15W TDP, where the HS chips are 45W and HX are 55W. The 7640U manages to get within 10% of the fastest laptop chips at any power rating on single-threaded tests, and is 60% faster than the previous generation's 6600U on multi-threaded tests.

It's a 6 core chip, so it's not going to match a 24 core 13980HX, but it's not going to set your pants on fire either.

Got 75% of my meager life savings out of a regional bank at 9 am yesterday. By 11:15 am Nasdaq halted trading in its stock which already had lost 25% of its value.

Put the money in a local credit union where I already have a couple of accounts. It ain't over till it's over and I don't think it's over yet.

Not with Joe Biden as president*.

Banks are holding a lot of Ts -- this is encouraged by the federal govts, who wants to finance its debt, of course, and they make Ts "risk free" by law and such.

This is like, well a major team in the NFL controlling the referees. Govts (and the US govt is the biggest of them all) are supposed to be referees of the financial system, enforcing rules. They are also the biggest players.

Anway, now that the Fed is raising rates, the value of the Ts is starting to go down. This was predicted years ago.

Now, if there's a crash in Ts big time, the Fed itself could get in trouble. We could have a "loss" from the Fed (this is only on paper, as the Fed is an entity that creates and destroys money at will). However, this is an "Event".

If the Fed were to "lose money", that is, it's paper balance sheet were to go negative, that would be a big event.

The only thing the Fed could do, is well, start printing money like crazy again, buying up all the Ts to support their value.

Thus, devalue the dollar and go big inflation again.

Over 10 years ago, a few years after the '08 crash, the Fed did a little sneaky balance sheet trick that would hide such a "loss". It's complicated, but we'll call it the "negative liability to the Treasury" trick.

If their asset side, the shit they've bought (created money against) goes south, and there's more money than assets agin' it, they "charge this off" to the US Treasury, and count that as an asset.

However, they call it an asset, because that would mean the Fed, on its own suddenly created an obligation of the US govt. Only Congress can do that. So, rather than an asset, it's a negative liability.

I'll just point out that all the was anticipated by people who had any sense. I've been reading about this "bond crash" as the inevitable result of Fed printing like crazy to support runaway debt, then trying to tighten once inflation took off.

This is unfolding exactly as it should. The only question was the timing. When. It's like Wile E. Coyote stepping of a cliff. He doesn't fall until he notices he's standing on thin air.

Everyone with any sense knew the Fed was walking off the cliff back in '08. Only question was when the system would fully notice.

I'm kind of in between things right now. My condo is being bought out by developers (maybe, it's been delayed once already) and I'm getting a decent enough sum to pay off the rest of the mortgage and have some left over. One of the guys in the class keeps wanting to get questions answered that will be taught today. Wants to know all the legal whys and wherefores of shooting someone I guess.
The patient instructor kept telling him, we'll get to that the next class when I tell the legal end of it.

Yep the fucked up with Frank Dodd as it moved market share of small bank new mortgages to mainly the big banks as they could pass the Stress Test. So they moved the test to $250B to make the smaller banks more competitive.
