EL PASO, Texas -- A standoff between hundreds of migrants and U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers in riot gear Sunday afternoon blocked the Paso Del Norte international bridge connecting El Paso and the Mexican border city Juárez.
There were also temporary disruptions when groups of migrants showed up at two other border bridges in El Paso, a border protection spokesman said in a statement. Barricades were used at the Stanton Bridge from 2 p.m. to 2:45 p.m. and at the Bridge of the Americas from 2:45 p.m. until 3:30 p.m. Sunday.
At the Paso Del Norte Bridge, officers stood behind concrete and plastic barriers topped with barbed wire blocking the border at the middle of the top of the bridge before what appeared to be hundreds of migrants.
About 1:30 p.m., the border protection agency's Mobile Field Force, a riot control team, was deployed when a large group of migrants threatened to make a mass entry, the agency said. A special response team and U.S. Border Patrol agents assisted border protection officers.

The migrants, who were of various nationalities but mainly Venezuelans, were demanding entry into the U.S. amid rumors that the border would be opened for express asylum, the Norte Digital news website reported from Juárez.
Some of the migrants could be heard on videos during the bridge rush saying Customs and Border Protection's online asylum application launched this year was not working properly.

Mexico's president Lopez-Obrador says that fentanyl is the US's problem, not Mexico's.

Well that's kind of true.

Mexico's president said Thursday that his country does not produce or consume fentanyl, despite enormous evidence to the contrary.
President Andrés Manuel López Obrador appeared to depict the synthetic opioid epidemic largely as a U.S. problem, and said the United States should use family values to fight drug addiction.
His statement came during a visit to Mexico by Liz Sherwood-Randall, the White House homeland security adviser, to discuss the fentanyl crisis. It also comes amid calls by some U.S. Republicans to use the U.S. military to attack drug labs in Mexico.
The Mexican government has acknowledged in the past that fentanyl is produced at labs in Mexico using precursor chemicals imported from China. Fentanyl has been blamed for about 70,000 opioid deaths per year in the United States.
"Here, we do not produce fentanyl, and we do not have consumption of fentanyl," López Obrador said. "Why don't they (the United States) take care of their problem of social decay?"

Again, you can't argue with the part about us welcoming social decay as if it's a Christmas president.

But he's lying about fentanyl not being produced in Mexico. Obviously it's being smuggled from there. We bust people smuggling fentanyl from Mexico all the time, despite Biden's best efforts to defang Border Patrol and CPB.

So he's just playing mob lawyer for the narcoterrorists in his country. And why would he do that, unless he was on the payroll.

Save-a-Lot the grocery was at least up front about it, and the charge was only .03, .10 for their *big* bags. You could bring your own, and I did.

One of my favorite old time movies is My Man Godfrey, which has a different kind of pacing and dialog than modern films, but it really works. But it takes getting used to, and the black and white is a huge barrier to young viewers. Its hilarious, though.

I watched Godfrey during the Sniffle Scare on YooToob. Great stuff -- a solid example of the kind of dialog movies sparkled with during the first decade of sound.

340 A guest of my neighbor backed into my backyard fence, taking out a couple of posts and panels. My neighbor has been a standup guy throughout. He contacted us right away and told us what happened. He made sure we have his contact information. Today, he got my permission to try and fix it himself after showing me a fence on his property he'd built. He's out in the rain right now fixing it.

I'm going to have to come up with something nice to do for him for being awesome.

350 I am pretty sure that Sunday's attempted violent invasion of the US border bridges in El Paso by illegals is a direct result of the State of Texas shutting down the border gap just west of downtown El Paso with razor wire and armed Texas Rangers and National Guard.

Prior to this gap being closed is where thousands of illegals daily were being allowed into the country by the Biden administration. The illegals, after being set free, set up camp on the streets of El Paso and in the airport. This chaos only ended when everything was cleaned up a few days before Biden showed up for breakfast tacos in El Paso.

I know I've seen a number of Hepburn movies but the only one I clearly remember is African Queen.

Both Bogey and her were really great in that. The book is even better by the way (by the same author as the Hornblower books).

See Kirk Douglas in the 1940s movie. But Moriarty played him as a nebbish who recites these things, but you know he's never going to do any of the great things he talks about and will never impress anybody into giving him a great job, etc.

Also Waterston and Moriarty both wound up on Law and Order years later.

404 Yeah run back to the Keaton and Lloyd silent comedies, and then move along into the talkies. There was an absolutely ton of horrible movies made, but almost none of them have really survived so when you watch old stuff you almost always get the good stuff.

Watch a film like The General and you'll change your mind on silent film. Chaplin and Keaton had an ongoing competition over who would use the fewest word cards in their movies. They just didn't need them.
