My kitchen sink drain has completely disintegrated except for the giant non-standard nut that holds the remains of the drain to the sink. Until I can replace the drain and that nut I have not functioning sink. No tool fits, so I am going to be using the cut off wheel.

The chances of not screwing everything up permanently using over powered power tools is near zero. Isn't home ownership fun?

Thank you! Good time indeed. Have seen some incredibly beautiful vistas outside of Dublin. Today I was overlooking Lough Tay - where they filmed the water scenes from the fictional home town of Kattegat on the show Vikings. Amazing! Have seen my boy 3 times this week already. He comes home at the end of the month. So thankful to have been able to make this trip!

Oddly enough utoob is your friend on this. You can fix it with minimum tools, and go from tailpiece to plastic to galvanized or cast iron. Pappy Eromero used to call it rabbit patch plumbing.

Apparently the previous owner didn't use anti-freeze because removing the water pump and thermostat housing has revealed a house of horrors.
The water pump had dark calcified deposits.
The the intake where the thermostat was had goo that looked and felt like dirty, half dry, wall spackle.

Scraped out as much as I could, but I'll need to figure out how to run CLR thru the engine.
The radiator isn't hooked up.

Chaplains... in 83, before the Barracks got blown in Beirut, I was deployed on the USS Iwo Jima (LPH-2)... well... as an ET we owned the 0-7 level (top of the Island)... and one day as a joke, a friend went out... figured out the direction of the Pentagon, dropped to his knees... and chanted 7 times... Please bring us home...

2 weeks later, we had about 30 Sailors up there at dawn every day, now putting towels down... and a HOLY Compass, where we made a big deal out of pointing us towards DC.... to... 'please bring us home'.

Chaplain who was deployed with us... full Bird Captain, was NOT amused. We all received formal counseling for 'making fun of other religions'.

Well, if you're sure it's calcium, etc. (water by-product build up), then I'd rig a way to cycle that CLR through the engine block and heads water ports (and radiator) til it ran clean.
Put a small (like bird bath small) pump on one of the heater hoses. Open up the heater port, put some CLR water in a reservoir, and go to town.
In other words, do it just like a "flush" of the coolant system, only do it as a closed system, with CLR in it.
Repeat 20 times.
No hill for a climber.
