A clip from the D&D movie. They cast the Speak with Dead spell on a dead body they've dug up to get some information about the history of the place they're in. Apparently this is rulebook accurate, including the five question limitation.

Someone needs to find a really good role for Chris Pine. He's got a real talent we only get to see occasionally put on best display (as in his role in the first Wonder Woman movie and maybe even this stupid D&D movie).

Evil Groomer Corporation Disney literally cannot make anything new, so they're rebooting The Haunted Mansion. The original Haunted Mansion movie was just based on a ride, of course.

Was the family in the ride black? I know the family in the first movie was -- Eddie Murphy was the father.

Anyway, I know no one's going to see this and it is not something. However, watch the kid's first line in the first twenty seconds. It's good.

Another remake from Evil Groomer Disney -- Woke Peter Pan, with girls among the Lost Boys, and black Tinkerbell.

I mean, fine on the latter. But... girls? Are boys literally allowed to do anything or have anything without girls? Wendy is already the co-star and actually the main character, despite not being the title character. Isn't she the viewpoint character and the one with the arc?

I mean, whatever.

Let's turn a thriller movie into a long series:

I like Lizzie Caplan but, nah dog, that's gonna be a no from me.

Might get to see Raw Boob, though.

5 I just watched "13 Assassins". It's essentially a Japanese Samurai movie with a decent plot and a gratuitous battle at the end. It's all in Japanese with subtitle, but worth it if you're into that genre.

Of course, the critics lauded the stunning and brave show. So we were stuck on a clue, and he proposed "calling on my big brother." Pooky allowed it, and we placed a call to his actual older brother, who's a genius at improv. He was given word limitations and absolutely nailed it, meaning we were able to move forward in the campaign. (We also made his day.)

For instance, that super-annoying (though pretty cute) Valkyie in the one Thor movie.

229 I have had some very good and very bad experiences at various tabletop roleplaying sessions. The old-fashioned Arnesonian-Gygaxian beer-and-pretzels style of gaming would frequently tantalize players by offering apparent magical advantages and snatching them away. The scene of a careless player entirely wasting the opportunity offered by a spell was classic Arneson-Gygax style. Gygax's players greatly respected him for their ability to beat them at this kind of mental challenge.

That being said, I think the Arneson-Gygax screw-the-players-for-everyone's-fun style is NOT good for high fantasy. It produces the atmosphere where the fourth wall is already broken for me. It prevents me from suspending disbelief.

Yes. I hate mainstream fantasy that tries to be D&D-adjacent, but at least this forced me to broaden my horizons. For example, I never would have discovered Akira Kurosawa's movies if Hollywood had not been so horrible. Unfortunately, anime is pretty close to Hollywood, otherwise I would advocate boycotting Hollywood and embracing anime. There are a few good stories to be found in anime, but a lot of anime is just mind-numbing television to keep the miserable proles from overthrowing their masters.
