AoSHQ Weekly Prayer List

Please submit any prayer requests to me, “Annie’s Stew” at apaslo atsign hotmail dot com. Prayer
requests are generally removed after four weeks unless we receive an update.

Prayer Requests:
1/18 – Teresa in Fort Worth needs prayers for help with a decision. Her daughter, Rebecca, is having hip
replacement surgery in a few hours. They are worried they are doing the wrong thing. Her hips have
been causing pain for many years. It turns out her pelvic bones didn’t develop properly (she has Down
syndrome) and her hips are grinding bone on bone. Because of her small stature, there is only 1
appliance on the market, and it may be too big for her. If it doesn’t work, they may need to cut off the
top of the bone. Intellectually, they have explored every option, but the Mom side of her is worried that
they are making the wrong decision.
1/24 Update – Rebecca’s new hip joint dislocated. She is on more pain meds. They are trying to
stabilize the hip and see if it will heal. They have a Plan B if that fails. Lots of prayers needed here, for
both Rebecca and her family.
1/30 Update – They are doing another surgery, to replace the ball joint part with a larger and longer
piece. Prayers still needed.
2/13 Update – Rebecca is home! Now they can focus on her healing.
1/28 – Hrorthgar asked for prayers for his son. He had chest pains, that turned out to be (non-clot shot)
blood clots in his lungs, which are much more treatable than a heart attack. Any spare prayers for full
and quick recovery for Keith would be much appreciated.
1/28 – Comrade flounder, Disinformation Demon asked for prayers for a good friend, who recently
found out her husband had been cheating on her throughout their marriage. Through marital and
spiritual counseling, they had decided to persevere, which included basically telling everyone (to avoid
the cycle of shame) and putting their faith in God to help them repair their relationship and strengthen
their family. It takes a log of personal and spiritual strength to not just walk away nowadays.
1/28 - Tonypete asks for prayers for his daughter. She continues to make very poor life choices and now
finds herself living in a hovel with bottom of the barrel roommates (like herself) and two actual pigs. The
place is filthy and should be condemned. She has been blessed with all she needs to live a happy, fruitful
life and yet rejects it all.
2/13 Update – Continued prayers are requested. They took a road trip and visited their daughter for a
few days. She has adopted as family a wildly dysfunctional girlfriend and her parents which only adds to
the already crushing burdens of her own. Tonypete fears she will be lost forever if she doesn’t begin to
use the skills and values they tried to teach her.
1/28 – mindful webworker sends a few requests: Daughter may be pregnant, after 2 miscarriages. She is
married to a great guy, and they would be good parents. MiladyJo has been hobbled with leg-foot pain.
Local sonM is a good guy who could have better, healthier habits. Remote sonC is still estranged. He will
not reply to them and they haven’t been allowed to see their two grandbabies for over a year. Prayers

for the Spirit of Truth to get through the barriers of pride and anger. Prayers for family, community
(online and off), nation, and world.
1/31 – Grannysaurus Rex asked for prayers for her beloved young grandson, who is struggling with
anxiety, depression, and suicidal ideation. Pray that he continues to put his faith in God as his
foundation to sustain him. Prayers also for his mental health professions to help him resolve these
issues.
2/4 – Stephan requests prayers that our God-awful nation will get back on the right track.
2/4 – Sal requests prayers for her younger brother who was diagnosed with ALS. He was holding steady
and enrolled in a research program, but is losing ground more rapidly now. Prayers for him and his
family would be most appreciated.
2/6 – FenelonSpoke asked for prayers for her church’s beloved and elderly organist, Jessie, who fell at a
church luncheon and has a pelvic fracture. Thanks so much.
2/11 Update – Jessie also broke her elbow, so she will miss playing at church.
2/7 – Annie’s Stew requests prayers for her step-grandson, age 17, who is experiencing life similar to
Grannysaurus Rex’ grandson: anxiety, depression, thoughts of suicide. Prayers for strengthened faith in
God and purpose in life are appreciated.
2/9 – Jane D’Oh’s husband is still undergoing therapy as an outpatient. A couple of days ago they found
out that he is paralyzed from the knee down on his left leg, so they have a neurologist appointment next
Friday to try and determine the cause. In the meantime, Jane and family remain utterly grateful for all
the prayers. After her husband was released from the hospital, they were told that he had been the
most critically ill patient in the place and that it was a miracle he survived. The prayers helped
tremendously.
2/9 – Russkiltlover asked for prayers for a co-worker who had a massive heart attack at work, and is on
life-support. The co-worker was 28. He was a super sweet guy, great construction manager, and fun to
work with.
2/14 – Kam Fong as Chin Ho asked for prayers for his co-worker and wife, as their 15-year-old son was
killed in an accidental shooting.
2/18 – Jewells45 gave an update on her cancer. The CT scan showed no new growth, so that was
fantastic news. There are ups and downs, be she is feeling better.
2/18 – Intruderdriver asked for prayers for Steve, a retired Marine aviator and airline pilot, who was
hospitalized with a cancer that had metastasized into his bones, brain, and lungs.
2/20 – Iron Mike Golf asked for prayers as he underwent a shoulder replacement.

2/21 – Palerider at AoS requested prayers for her co-worker, William. He has battled brain cancer
before. It came back this fall, and he did a round of intense treatment at Mayo. He is now having vision
issues making it difficult for him to do his work on the computer. She requests prayers that the vision
issues resolve quickly and his cancer is put back into remission.
2/21 PB has for prayers, as his family has been having an interesting time lately. His dear wife was in the
hospital over Christmas and New Year’s. She has lost her hearing and may need implants. She can walk
now with a walker, which is a huge improvement over the last month. Additionally, their youngest son
had ACL surgery in late Dec.
2/24 – Legally Sufficient asked for the Horde’s prayers as she undergoes total knee replacement surgery
on 2/27. She asks for strength and continued faith. She also asked for prayers for her husband, and asks
that God would provide him with strength and patience as he helps nurse her through this.
For submission guidelines and other relevant info, please contact Annie's Stew, who is managing the
prayer list. You can contact her at apaslo at-sign hotmail dot com. If you see a prayer request posted in
a thread comment, feel free to copy and paste it and e-mail it to Annie's Stew. She tries to keep up with
the requests in the threads, but she's not here all of the time, so she may not see it unless you e-mail it
to her. Please note: Prayer requests are generally removed after four weeks or so unless we receive an
update.

 Romans 8:26-27
26 In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but
the Spirit himself intercedes for us through wordless groans. 27 And he who searches our hearts knows
the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for God’s people in accordance with the will of God.

Regarding the sidebar...

For what it's worth, I believe the maker of Star Trek are owed nothing, and should be left to wallow in their failure to understand their market.

F'rinstance...If an ice cream maker had been trying to sell you ice cream that was 99.9% dog shit, you would naturally refuse to buy it.

But, if they reduced the amount of dog shit in their ice cream to 15%, would you then start buying it again, yap online about how delicious it was now and they were back, baby!

No, you would not.

Posted by: Tonypete at February 25, 2023 09:17 AM (qoGsy)

47 Hello fellow prayer warriors! I've been keeping to the book thread to preserve my sanity, but I thought I'd drop in today to give a bit of good news.

My youngest daughter has been in a very dark place for several years. Between the lockdown, trans-craziness and the general state of the world, she was alienated from us and from God. However, a few months ago that started to change. Over the summer she decided to receive the Anointing of the Sick to help heal a foot injury and while with the priest, also did Reconciliation. She went to Mass with us at Christmas and received the Eucharist.

She doesn't go on weekends because she's still a lazy teenager, but on Ash Wednesday she agreed to go with me on the condition that she not have to take the ashes, which she finds icky. However, when the time came, she changed her mind and subsequently also participated in Communion. All of that was wonderful, but there's more.

Her struggle (and other drama) has undermined my wife's faith. She was a mighty prayer warrior, saying rosaries daily, but now she only grudgingly goes to Mass on holidays. She refused to get ashes. (con't)

Anyone claiming Star Trek or anything else being churned out by the American corporate sector is "good" is either paid off, or straight-up stupid AF. It's uniformly bowdlerized, sterilized pablum nobody can relate to.

The entertainment biz is just going through the motions, pushing out product that enjoys an audience only because their oligarchy ensures no mainstream competition in terms of quality. And it's *still* a shrinking audience. These people could fuck up a wet dream, because they're creatively bankrupt corporate-state robots.

We have how many more people than in the 80s and yet "hit" shows have audiences that wouldn't have cracked the top 100 back then. It's not the fragmentation or streaming, it's that they produce GARBAGE. Top Gun Maverick proved that.

Make a non-sucking film that doesn't insult the audience and you can print your own money.

128 For those who never had the joy of meeting WDS - she was an absolute delight. Yuge personality, yuge heart.

She and Mr WDS gave me a home away from home while Jesse was in the hospital in CO a year ago this month. My family and J's family were all far away. The hospital was 3 hours from J's and my own home.

They fed me comfort food (homemade soups etc); helped my get my Jeep fixed on short notice when the check engine light came on; hugged me about a thousand times. No half-assed side-hugs from WDS - she'd grab your neck, pull you in, squeeze you tight, and give you a big ol' kiss on the cheek. All this without any hesitation, to someone she'd met briefly at the previous TX MoMe. So they will always be beloved family to me.

135 Legally Sufficient--

If you are around, good luck with the knee replacement. My husband had TKR on both knees--NOT at the same time--in 2015 and it entirely changed our lives for the better. Your husband will indeed need strength and patience for at least the first week or so. You will need to commit to your PT; after having a good surgeon, it is the next most important thing.

FWIW, my suggestions--
1. Be sure husband has a system to manage medications. I had a written schedule and a 4x7 pillbox.
2. I don't know how tall you are, but we put risers under husband's chair and bed to make them easier to get into and out of. Also a toilet seat riser.

Even when I go into hiding, I always include the Moron Horde in my prayers. I don't talk about it much, and frankly my anti-religious upbringing makes it hard for me to say things like "I'm praying for you," but sometimes people need to know that they are not alone in spirit, even if they are physically isolated.

143 Speaking of Star Trek, I watched The Search For Spock and The Voyage Home yesterday.

Robin Curtis was a better Lt. Saavik than Kirstie Alley.

Alley was more beautiful, for sure, but Curtis best embodied Vulcan stoicism. Contrast the scene at the end of Khan where Alley is crying as they bury Spock "at sea" versus when Curtis watches Kirk's son be murdered. I think there would have been a temptation for some kind of emotion but nope. Zero. None. Nada.

He did have a good, glowering look, though.

Kinda reminds me of all those people who ask for aid in famine covered places. The people are starving! Won't you help... just a little??

So people pour in money, but somehow, someway, the food never gets to the starving. It may get to the regime that's doing the starving, but it never gets to the people. Why, it's almost like the whole operation was designed to enrich the senders and the receivers, and NOT to actually help the, you know, people.

Almost.

I am guessing in part - okay, mostly - because of the graft. Starting up a production line to run some tanks generates jobs in a lot of districts. But takes a while to make multimillion dollar 70 ton vehicles.

Feb 25:
Whew! My third “bet your oak leaf” moment has come and gone. The breach of the berm was successful and NO Iraqi Artillery landed on any of the four corridors. The dozers and anti-mine tanks encountered some mortars and small arms fire, but nothing significant. One wounded from what I hear. Missed the prep but the CG’s aide said it was life-changing. Five minutes after we started firing the sky was black with dust and smoke.
1Cav is pushing hard. 2 ACR is through and heading out. 1st Brit Tank if following with 1st Armored as well. 18th Corps out west. MSG in about the Marines encountering possible chemical mines. Our Fuchs vehicles have had numerous alarms. New PIR: Find the 52nd Ind Brigade. Will they counter-attack or was it broken down into separate battalions to fill gaps? Deputy Commander now haunts my targeting cell looking for targets for the AH-64s and the ATACMS. Report of 60 MTI in the 47th Sector has everyone looking. It was really three sets of ten vehicles about 6 miles apart. Miscommunication is going to be a bitch.

I heard someone saying recently, if you look at who was in politics, working their way up during the 70s, 80s, and 90s, you see all the same people who are in charge now.

They never left.

I'm not sure, but I think this is fairly unique in our political history, where we've had these career politicians stay in power for decades. I mean, there have always been the types, but never this many, so concentrated in their constancy. May have something to do with why this nation has lost its moral direction.

Wouldn't have to execute them. Just fence off one of the old nuclear test ranges in Nevada or something and dump them in there. High voltage fences, automated machine guns, nerve gas, whatever.

They want to live by the law of the jungle? Let 'em.

If you were feeling especially magnanimous, you could parachute in the occasional load of garden seeds and run in a water pipeline. If they break the pipeline, tough shit. If the baddest mofo takes over all the seeds and the water supply and turns all the others into slaves, tough shit. If they're too lazy to grow food and wind up turning cannibal, tough shit.

But do they? I think we've known, but haven't really acknowledged, for MOST of our elections going back decades, the percentage of votes coming out of big cities, primarily areas that are overwhelmingly black, way beyond the levels of votes cast in other areas.

Why? The best answer is, they have been cheating for decades. My experience talking with people who live in these areas is that most people are ambivalent about voting, and express no confidence in politicians of any race. The cheating is so ingrained, hopelessness has crept in, and will stay until something drastic changes. Which is hard to see happening right now.

I agree with this, and I've pointed out in the past--especially after Newark saved Phil Murphy's ass last time---I still believe he lost, but the phantom votes got him over.
No one questions tallies that give the Dem 98% of the votes in the cities.

300 ALCOHOL ADDICTION ... Longtime alcoholics choosing drink are increasing the likelihood of dying from liver failure (excruciatingly painful) ... Liver failure can also be quite embarrassing if bowels become uncontrollable ... Livers can be transplanted successfully, but chronic drinkers are usually not eligible.

Brings back a sweet memory of dancing with Diane (WDS) two TxMoMeets ago. She personified joie de vivre.

And the previous year, she and BBD were in 50's sun dresses (and boots, according to BBD, but I did not look that far down) and dancing up a storm. BBD told the story of meeting ace. "One glance only at the boobs, then eye contact. He was a perfect gentleman."

At my first COMoMeet, Diane directed me to her house, where she, Nurse Ratched, Snail Racer, and Jordon 61 were just getting started. We had so much fun. Laughing until my sides hurt. Like watching Diane wake up Berserker.
All four of them gave me an exuberant group hug. It was like a supernova of caring in the darkness of deep space. I was blessed by them. A very bright and special memory.

She is gone, way too soon.

377 354 It's possible you don't understand what love is.

About as possible as broad, sweeping statements like "love is always the answer" is a winning life strategy. I've shot to kill an intruder before - love was the furthest thing from my mind.

How about we don't play the stupid game of twisting the meaning of words to defend a really dumb opening statement. Nobody wins a fight because of love. They win because of hate.

381 That's a pretty funny thought, but I think I'll pass. There is a nice guy on another board who is a Wiccan, I think, and he told me that Wiccans and Satanists are not the same thing, which I knew but he also told me that that about 50% of Satanists are politically conservative but I find that hard to believe.
Posted by: FenelonSpoke at February 25, 2023 11:21 AM (JMEA3)

Obviously there are large varieties of messed up thinking in this world, and one of them is people who think everyone who doesn't view the world exactly as they do must be part of the "bad thing" they envision in their minds.

For many, that's "politically conservative."

387 How big? Fishing? Public launch?
Posted by: Comrade flounder

Relatively small lake, about a mile long . It's a 5mph lake so generally all I see on it are canoes and kayaks, but I have occasionally seen a few fishermen. It does have a public launch. It's a beautiful lake with a waterfall . It's one of the headway for the Little Spokane river .
If you ever have the desire to try kayaking get ahold of me. I have 2 singles and a double. Great place for a date with your better half.

395 I would emphasize the comment about committing to PT. It is a major contributing factor in recovery and it is not fun, but it is necessary.
My takeaway was Rehab, Rehab, Rehab!
The words you really want to hear from your PT therapist are "There's really nothing more we can do for you because you are capable of doing every exercise we ask of you!"

I second this. Publius was very good about his rehab after a TKR. The surgeon, who was very good, doubted that he would ever be able to straighten his leg fully, since it had been so many years. But he did it! Now we have to set up surgery for the other TKR (maybe winter 2023-24). He can't do it during the summer on account of having to run the tractor.

There's a very good reason why G.K. Chesterton isn't taught in any boot-camp or infantry school. Because he was a fucking moron when it comes to why folks fight. The same moron that talked about why you ask permission to take down a fence.

I get it, in a way. Old folks like to think things will just stay the same. Spoiler Alert ... Elites will also quote Chesterton, in a couple decades. Because they won't want their fences tore down either.

No training, of any group instructed to kill ... starts with any stupid shit remotely connected with Chesterton, or any idea about "love". You start with dehumanizing the enemy. If they wear something convenient ... like a Red Star ? All the better. You can put that on a training dummy.

No senior drill will ever say anything as stupid as "love that training dummy".
