Breaking news: journalists shot Horrible news out of Central Florida. Two journalists for a TV station in Orlando were shot at the scene of a homicide investigation on Wednesday. Orange County Sheriff John Mina said one of the two has died. The journalists were from Spectrum News 13. In addition, a 9-year-old was also shot and killed. According to reports, the journalists were on the scene of a homicide investigation where, earlier in the day, a woman had been shot. A 19-year-old man, Keith Melvin Moses, walked up to the Spectrum News van around 4:05 p.m. and shot a reporter and photographer. Both were rushed to the hospital where one was pronounced dead and the other was listed, as of Wednesday night, in critical condition. Names of the journalists had not been made public as of late Wednesday. Moses then, according to Mina, went into a nearby house and shot a 9-year-old girl and her mother. The child was killed, and the mother was hospitalized in critical condition. Mina said Moses is now in custody, and that Moses was also suspected in the first shooting earlier in the day. In a press conference, Mina said, "Why he shot them in that house (is) really unclear as to why he shot the news vehicle as well." Mina added, "What a horrible day this has been for our community and our media partners. No one in our community, not a mother, not a 9-year-old, certainly not news professionals, should become the victim of gun violence in our community." White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre tweeted, "Our hearts go out to the family of the journalist killed today and the crew member injured in Orange County, Florida, as well as the whole Spectrum News team."Terrible, horrible, heartbreaking news: Journalists shot. Also, some fucking rando 9 year old kid died. Also some woman. Fucking pigs. The perp is, sadly for the media, Definitely Not a White Supremacist,* so unfortunately the mourning for the journalists he shot will be, by media rules, extremely brief. "journalists" are always talking about how brave they are and how DANGEROUS their jobs are but notice how very rare it is to ever hear of a journalist being killed or even smacked. I mean...it's about personalizing a story. 3000 people is hard to grasp, but one person can be talked about in detail. So, that example sort of makes sense.
This is just obvious guild protecting, though. Shootings happen in blue hellholes everyday, but they're given scant coverage until one of the journalists' own gets caught.

I did a home network upgrade over the past month and the (almost) final pieces came in. They are new WiFi access points. Unlike the rest of the equipment I've upgraded, the old and new ones are the same manufacturer, and in the same product line (just the newer version with a bit more capability). Old: Made in China. New: Made in Vietnam.
This is somewhat high-end equipment, targeted mostly at the commercial market. Most of the consumer stuff I see is still made in China, but the commercial stuff is more of a crap shoot nowadays.
I'd rather see this stuff being made here, but out of China is a good thing.

I'm not sure this is exactly right. The big NYTimes article that really kicked off the Weinstein events was in October of 2017. JL was in Red Sparrow in 2018, XMen in 2019, and Don't Look Up in 2021.
She's also getting old in Hollywood terms. She's 32, practically a spinster by their metrics, so they're going to slow down offering her roles.

Disney Marvel was lauding Wakanda Forever as being their most diverse movie because the cast and crew was 90% black.
This makes sense to them.

These caps were common before the war, and they were made out of old men's hats - like a fedora. They cut off the brim and they were used to keep grease out of your hair when you worked on a car. I used to see them a lot in old movies. I think they were called whoppee hats or something but that was regional I don't think they really had a name - just a cap.

Yeah, PayPal will take a cut, and PayPal sucks. 100% of all credit card processing is done by bad guys. There is *no* good firm in that space. Buntz, Franz's character on HSB, was pretty corrupt, but he had courage and was fairly smart. The network tried to spin him off into his own series, Beverly Hills Buntz, and that failed. Earlier in HSB's run, though, Franz played another cop entirely who was a true scumbag and killed at least one other cop. (He got caught and killed.)

They are. SubscribeStar less so, but both of them have something of an Achilles' heel as far as I know, which is recurrence. Asking people to subscribe for some amount every month is quite different from asking people to give one chunk of money every now and again.
Beyond that, recurring payments are technically different from one-off payments, so a lot of times prepaid credit cards (what I use, when I hit the tip jar, because I don't want my name on the list) will just outright fail when you try to use them with Patreon. I don't know if Patreon or SubscribeStar one-off options or not, or registrationless donation or not.

ahh it's not that bad, I certainly wouldn't hold bitcoin indefinitely, you can easily transfer it out once you receive a donation, and it's not a good long-term investment, but as a way to receive anonymous donations, it can be very useful and a lot of the anti-bitcoin talk is just people that haven't used it

I did, repeatedly. I said polling is crap and cannot be trusted no matter what it says or who is losing. Because it is crap.

No, seriously, that's what it was called, their influencer program. People who did a lot of reviews and threw them traffic were called influencers and if you used their link they got a cut. I think its still around.

First, almost no news accounts calling to Kill The Monster contain any facts other than a series of loosely connected "incidents of sexual assault" and reciting many
"allegations of rape."
And apparently the one "rape" in a hotel room that just got him 16 years was a (very old) complaint by a woman who admitted a consensual, sexual relationship with him both before and AFTER the alleged rape. I'm sorry but being a total scumbag isn't a crime, and a "trial" is supposed to be about the facts of the case, and not whether you are judged (by the mob) to be a generalized scumbag. If he truly rape-raped anyone, i.e. used physical force or drugged them, then by all means throw away the key. And if you pressure employees who trade sex for employment etc it's terrible, and you should get your ass sued.
But it truly seems that he just jail for serial, civil sexual harassment. And his being physically repulsive while doing so just intensified the female hate.
