Social media is causing a mental illness epidemic. (Substack)

In teenage girls specifically, but in everyone else as well. The same effect is observed in teen boys but to a much smaller degree, and if you've seen social media lately the trend very obviously extends to adults as well.

What's the solution? Banning teenagers from anything doesn't work terribly well, so I would suggest the old standby of throwing communists out of helicopters. It's like ice cream: It makes everything better.

Intel's new Xeon W workstation CPUs are nearly as fast as AMD's old Threadripper 5000 range. (WCCFTech)

The story is ostensibly about the new Intel chips setting a world record in one benchmark, which they did, bathed in liquid nitrogen and drawing 1000 amps of current.

But if you scroll down there are some benchmarks that don't involve simultaneously freezing and burning your house down, and they show that while the new Xeons have better single-core performance, they scale worse and are slower on all multi-core tests.

The 24 core Xeon W is faster than a 24 core 13900K, but it should be because all the cores on the Xeon are full size and 16 of the cores on the 13900K are half-size "Efficiency" or E cores. The 13900K is clocked higher, but not enough to catch up.

I'd like to get a proper workstation system so I'm waiting for full reviews of these chips, but I expect the pricing on a full system will exceed my budget.

7 Made it! Evening and morning to all the satellites in space!

ON the ONT, MisHum posted a story about a cannabis vending machine in CO, at 11091 E. Mississippi Ave., near East Mississippi Avenue and South Havana Street. I know that intersection -- I mean I must have driven it at some point during my time in CO. There was anindependent breakfast/lunch place on S. Havana near there where I used to eat, with a skylight and smooth wooden benches in the booths, and they served buckwheat pancakes.

Driving around Denver at non-congested hours was so nice. I was always willing to explore a new area of town because the streets were in such good condition that I didn't fear for my car's suspension. Wonder if the roads are still good.

14 'Tis 73 F. this morning. In February. Ugh. The high was over 80 yesterday.

I was stuck in traffic coming home at noon. A float was being escorted by 2 cops on motorcycles, occupying 2 of the bridge's 4 lanes. It took me an hour to get home instead of the 25 minutes it should have. Damn Mardi Gras. Why couldn't they move that stuff across the bridge during the overnight hours?

30 Kia seems to be the car of choice now for teens to steal and do the old crash and grab. They have been having a good old time crashing through the front doors of liquor stores and other retail. They are under 18, so when arrested, they spend a few hours at a police station then out the door to do it again. Meanwhile the store owner is in for a few thousand to fix the damage. Politicians don't care, (unless its their car) Love to see a politician get run over by one of those cars, can God hear me.

The worst part is that they're ALREADY terrible and restrictive and purposely blocking information, and now it will be even more guided and "natural language" whatever so that little kids will be easy to push in their right direction.

I was lamenting yesterday that there is a quote that I know with 100% certainty that Jefferson made regarding the indians being equals to whites, with the phrase "climb the ladder" as part of it ("their choice to climb the ladder of western civilization or be driven like beasts to the west" is what I remember).

That quote doesn't exist online anywhere. Which is impossible.

hahahaha, no, that's not what happened on the video at all. What did happen was the cops arrived, the one that rang the doorbell (or knocked) turned away from the door, and then when the door opened the two lovers were both holding the hammer.

66 Social media is a disturbing entity. The younger gen, at least when I have to associate with them, barely know how to have a verbal conversation. They chastise, humiliate, and abuse each other en masse. I would think that very hard to cope with as a teenager. If we had an issue with someone in my day we to took it to each others' face. Yeah, maybe you had your bff's behind you and a shove or two might have happened but you dealt with it, in the open, transparently, and verbally.

The early days of computing were great. It was people who knew how to build computers, install cards, set IRQ's and a host of other minutia. When Apple computer put a 'smartphone' in any dummies hands was when things went off the rails.

2. Child Support Payments Deductions vs. Real Payments
3. # of Dependents

All of these trigger audits no matter your color. Each 1 of these doubles or triples your audit rate. Same goes for 1099 and K1.

And the federal government could shut that down in a heartbeat but congress won't let them do it. They passed a law that prohibits the IRS from pinging social security to verify SS numbers used for tax exemptions. If they could do that, vast amounts of EIC and child exemptions would disappear overnight.

137 I missed the thread a day or so ago on the mental health decline of teenaged girls that coincides with the rise in social media. That toothpaste is not going back in the tube, sad to say. There is no way to get these kids to unplug from this madness. Heck, even adults can't give it up. We've all been out in public 1000s of times and noticed all the faces staring into their gizmos like they can't live without them. It's really a sad spectacle. I really feel for teenagers today, and kids in general. They are dealing with such ungodly things, from social media and feelings of unworthiness to the brutal trans and gay avalanche of propaganda. I can't imagine the horror of what it's like to grow up as a kid today.
