New York Times Staffers Reveal "Maoist Struggle Sessions" and Woke Purges In Newsroom

In the summer of 2020, Senator Tom Cotton wrote a fairly sensible op-ed about ending the chaos, violence, and mass-arson in the cities following St. George Floyd's death due to sucking down all of his drugs in one big deadly bolus, which apparently White America was morally responsible for. The article was titled "Send In the Troops," and called for the National Guard to restore law and order -- and safety, and lack of fire -- to the cities.

This caused a Woke Meltdown at the "paper of record" (giggle), who were deeply offended that a white man was permitted to print an article in the New York Times calling for the military to be used to quell a Mostly Peaceful Insurrection.

The opinions page editor who approved the article, James Bennet, was forced to resign after the newsroom exploded in woke rage.

He was branded as guilty of the most horrible crime of all: he allowed himself to be Adjacent to Hurtful Opinions.

Steve Krakauer has written a book about the episode and the New York Times' descent into the Oberlin College POC-LGBT Union.

'It was like a Maoist struggle session': Ex-NYTimes writer describes 'crying' and 'bloodthirsty' colleagues demanding action over controversial 'send in the troops' Senator Cotton Op-Ed which sparked paper's woke meltdown

Shawn McCreesh has given an explosive account of the fallout at the New York Times over an Op-Ed by Senator Tom Cotton

Cotton's Op-Ed, titled 'Send in the Troops', argued for the National Guard to respond to the 2020 BLM riots

James Bennet resigned from his job as editorial page editor over the scandal which McCreesh said was like a 'Maoist struggle'

By Will Potter For Dailymail.Com

A former New York Times staffer has revealed how his 'bloodthirsty' colleagues sparked a woke meltdown inside the newsroom after the paper published a controversial opinion piece about the 2020 Black Lives Matter protests.

Shawn McCreesh described how a 'Maoist struggle' ensued after the paper published the Op-Ed by Arkansas Senator Tom Cotton in June 2020.

Cotton's piece, titled 'Send in the Troops', plunged the outlet into chaos after the Republican argued for the National Guard to respond to the 2020 BLM riots.

McCreesh details the internal backlash in an upcoming book by author Steve Krakauer, noting that it felt like 'a murder' had occurred after the scandal led to the resignation of influential editorial page editor James Bennet.

After the paper decided to publish Cotton's controversial opinion piece, many woke employees publicly hit out at the Times for upsetting them.

Several staffers took to Twitter to slam NYT executives for allowing the publication, including 1619 Project creator Nikole Hannah-Jones, who said she was 'deeply ashamed'.

The woke demanded victory in this one battle -- but that was the only battle. After that, they had won the War for the New York Times and would not be challenged again.

He said that the New York Times newsroom became controlled by 'Twitter-brained crazies', as his 'bizarre' former colleagues became 'bloodthirsty' in reaction to the article.

Get ready:

In one instance, a staff meeting to discuss Cotton's Op-Ed piece saw tech writer Charlie Warzel begin openly weeping in front of his colleagues due to the backlash.

He allegedly said 'none of his friends wanted to talk to him anymore because he worked for this horrible evil newspaper that would print this Op-Ed'.

The New York Times has officially appended an apology to the piece, declaring it to be, officially, a Wrongopinion.

Usually facts are wrong. But here, an opinion is officially wrong.

The New York Times has since attached an editors note to the piece, where it acknowledges that 'this essay met strong criticism from many readers - and many Times colleagues'.

The paper says their decision to publish the piece led to a 'review' of its editing process, adding that it 'concluded that the essay fell short of our standards and should not have been published.'

More from Mediaite's Isaac Schorr.*

"There was like this giant communal Slack chat for the whole company that became sort of the digital gallows," he told me. "And all these angry backbiting staffers were gathering there and demanding that heads roll and the most bloodthirsty of the employees were these sort of weird tech and audio staffers and then a handful of people who wrote for like the Arts and Leisure section, and the Style section, and the magazine, which, in other words, you know, it was no one who was actually out covering any of the protests or the riots or the politics. It was just sort of like a bunch of Twitter-brained crazies kind of running wild on Slack. And the leadership was so horrified by what was happening. They just completely lost their nerve."

"The worst part was that a lot of the people who were stabbing James in the front were the ones that he hired and brought to the newspaper," McCreesh added. "It was like Caesar on the floor of the Roman Senate or something. Just this sort of horrible moment, and I remember closing my laptop and pouring a huge glass of wine, even though it was at like noon. Because I was so fucking freaked out by what we had just witnessed."

John Sexton wrote about this last night, including reminding us of other New York Times writers purged by the Woke Inquisitors.

Benet told Ben Smith that New York Times Nepot Baby Pinch Sulzberger wants to play dress-up as an "Old School Newsman" -- but wants to hear the cheers from the woke mob more.

The Times and its publisher, Bennet said, "want to have it both ways." Sulzberger is "old school" in his belief in a neutral, heterodox publication. But "they want to have the applause and the welcome of the left, and now there's the problem on top of that that they've signed up so many new subscribers in the last few years and the expectation of those subscribers is that the Times will be Mother Jones on steroids."

More at the link, including the purge of a science editor who was cancelled when it was discovered that years ago, he had used the n-word.

He had used the n-word when specifically asked about the appropriateness of using the n-word in certain academic and journalistic contexts.

The woke mobs demanded his head, and the "newsroom" as a whole boycotted him, vowing not to work with him.

Tonight Jupiter will be right next the crescent Moon (10%), with Venus below. Here, clouds are threatening, so I may not get to see it in it's fully glory as I did last night. I can see the Moon now, but nothing else.

Anyway, right after sundown, look to the West and you'll see a beautiful show. Venus and Jupiter are very bright.

On March 1, there will be a conjunction of Venus and Jupiter, and it should be a spectacular sight. Over the next week to 10 days, Jupiter will get closer and closer to Venus every evening. By the end of March, Jove will disappear into the daylight sun for a while, so take this opportunity to see the show.

148 I work for a very large company. Somewhere in 2020 we collaborated with a "black owned" company to produce company logo'd swag that showed we supported Black Lives. The swag was available to employees, and there was a comments section in the announcement on our internal website.

Among the usual "Hey this is great" and "Go team" comments was one guy who didn't like it because the vendor was not black enough for him. After criticizing the vendor and our company he began to demand that we vocally support reparations else our company, the company of which he was an employee, was part of the problem and basically racist. He basically took over the comments section as it devolved into an attack on his employer, and by proxy its employees.

Finally someone from "up there" jumped on. Did they castigate him, tell him to calm down, defend the company's swag idea? No, it was someone from the African American resource group (we have various identity-based resource groups, though everyone is free to join them). The woman basically said she liked his energy and would like him to consider joining the AA group. She told him to reach out to her and he said he would do so.

259 > So the seas are to blame? Neptune? All the coastal 'men' are sissies?

There are lots of historical reasons for it. When people escaping the old world landed in the US, the adventurous ones continued onward. The much less adventurous ones stayed put. Men and women that ventured away from civilization had to fend for themselves and develop skills and habits that are actively discouraged in the middle of cities.

In WWII, men were shipped to the coasts and they were given a final checkup and processing before shipping out. Most of the guys that failed that final checkup chose not to go back home out of shame.

There are also "communities" of weirdos who, back in the day, could find no kindred spirits in small towns. They went to the cities to be around other weirdos and to disappear.

There are also lots of people who want to drop out of society where the weather is nicer and the social support system is generous. That attracts weirdos to the coastal cities.

"What's it like wearing Pinto's rank?" He shouldn't have been blamed, he would have gotten it if it wasn't for that fact that I'm so good.

288 This STAFF Sgt, I don't know who is Marine, but to say it that way is an insult, he was an 18 year staff, which is a JOKE. If you are in more than 12 and not infantry and still a JUST a staff? all you are doing is taking up boat spaces.

This STAFF, is talking about sexual harassment, and describes the new standards, third party accusations, references, non direct accusations.

I sat there, LITERALLY Marine of the Quarter of that quarter, when he asked for questions, I broke it down, saying exactly what I just said.

"So sexual harassment doesn't require a direct accusation." "Of course not" as though he wasn't the 58th percentile and I'm the 98. "So someone who has never met me can accuse me of sexual harassment STAFF sergeant?" he said, "If you actually did it." "Okay STAFF sergeant you just brought in a giant can, and it's filled with worms and you poured them everywhere, I'm gone." He said, "This is mandatory." I said, "I have work to do." "You stay here." I said, "STAFF sgt, I have work to do, it's classified."

3 of my MOS's were classified, one at top, and even my admin MOS required a clearance. and I walked the fuck out.

Posted by: Wickedpinto at February 22, 2023 06:59 PM (+DF+H)

289 2 days after my command gave a handout to a piece of shit who was married to a whore who fucked my friend, but I'm the one who payed the price, by abusing everyone on the board and stealing my rank, and 3 days after I was Marine of the Quarter.

I didn't give a fuck! Not One FUCK! my request mast was already on record, and I made it to the general in charge of 1st LogGp. It wasn't called that at the time, he said, "I can't give you your rank, and the only thing you can achieve if you sign this paper" (The request mast advancement) is that you will be attacked every time you do something.

Posted by: Wickedpinto at February 22, 2023 07:04 PM (+DF+H)

290 Then he said, "The fact it got here, They (the commanders who fucked me, and were listed in my Request mast) likely be fucked as well. You likely accomplished at least that. . . . . .(and he paused and acknowledged it, which almost makes me tearful even know.) Corporal."

So I withdrew my request mast, which was fucking stupid. I gave up my principles, and my RIGHT, because a general called me a rank that The Corps didn't acknowledge.
