Correct but what we have is worse than state media. If the electorate changes the government state media is supposed to sway with it. No we have a one party media, and that is worse because when the other party has the ball 100% of the media goes to war with the "incorrect decision of the people." Trust me, I do media theory for a living arguably. There are state media sources globally less biased than what we have. That is not hyperbole, I help model it. Differences Between Left Wing Media And Right Wing Media 101: This is for Marjorie Greene, Lauren Boebert, Ronny Jackson, Matt Gaetz, Paul Gosar, and others in Congress who are outraged by the fact that DirecTV canceled OAN and Newsmax. Left wing media reports real news using things like "facts" and "logic". Left wing media reports news and facts without using outrage and fearmongering. Right wing media reports the news through heavily manufactured and choreographed talking points, excessive fearmongering and fake outrage which is then filtered through what's called an "echo chamber". And it's called an "echo chamber" because there are literally thousands of shows and hundreds of networks out there that are all selling the exact same product. People are tired of the hate and we want a massive change. This isn't 2016 anymore and your social media shit posting and trolling is so old that it can vote. Posted by: Mark Andrew Edwards, Buy ammo, food, water at February 15, 2023 12:25 PM (/6ur0) ++++ It's an overall system. The state is not the media is not the party per se, but they are in rigorous lock step. I often call it the State/Party/Media Complex, which I think fits fairly well. A state media flows with the state. A Party media flows with the Party. When the state and the party and the media are all in cahoots, they all flow together. A state media being less bad than a Party media depends on the state and the party not being parts of the same whole. In this country, they are all parts of the same whole and so there is no freedom at all. The only disagreement is the Soviet type where the state paper would sometimes disagree with the party paper, which showed where the conflicts are. We have the same thing. We have the Party/IC paper (the WaPo) and the State/LE paper (the NYT). When they disagree, you know where the conflicts are. In neither system can you get the truth. We are now in an era where what is said is less important than what is not said...you can navigate that way but it saps your sanity and definitely on a long enough timeline kills your spirit.
Posted by: sven at February 15, 2023 12:32 PM (Lzpvj) ++++ Yup. You have to look for what's unsaid and look for intersections of disagreement among constantly-shifting factions. You can paint a picture that way, but it's demoralizing and often the picture is low-resolution. Posted by: Joe Mannix (Not a cop!) at February 15, 2023 12:34 PM (t0OGg) 185
But her self-censorship to please the Real News Mr. President didn't work.
Note that this was "shortly before they let [her] go." Once you've demonstrated you can't be trusted to be On The Team 100% of the time, the leftwing propaganda media fires you. More psychological control. They make you renounce yourself, then they get rid of you. In this fashion, you not only suffer the indignity of being fired and forced out, but you also have to go live with the fact that you also betrayed yourself and everything you held dear. You are a whore who sold themselves and still didn't get paid. One can more easily live with themselves if they stand up for what they believe is right and suffer the consequences. In fact, this often admirable. What the powers that be do to people is infinitely worse, they not only take your livelihood, they take your soul as a bonus. Can anyone point to a "talented" newsreader? What would that entail? All they have to do is be attractive and read words out loud in a pleasant voice. Wildly off topic, but today I learned that SS Bismarck - a mega-sized passenger liner that was left unfinished when WWI broke out - was finished and then given as reparations to the White Star Line as restitution for the loss of the Britannic, which had been converted to a hospital shop when it sank due to a German sea mine. The Bismarck's sister ship was given to Cunard as restitution for the loss of the Lusitania.
When the Bismarck was finished, it was painted in the Hapsburg-American colors, they put the German name and location on the stern, and the cabins for British officers on the handover were being used as storage closets. On its way to sea trials, the British crew repainted the funnels in White Star colors and put the new name and location - Majestic and Liverpool - on the stern. Interesting little side show from a forgotten chapter of the postwar settlement. Posted by: Joe Mannix (Not a cop!) at February 15, 2023 12:47 PM (t0OGg) 279

Yeah, Shaw was a big-time Socialist. Amazing how people can deny facts that are right in front of their own perfectly-functioning eyes.
Yet you see it every day. That's how 99% of people work. They force themselves to not see what they don't want to see. We all talk about what the Left won't see, but there's plenty hard-core right wingers won't see as well. Police brutality. The UniParty. Corporate manipulation of markets. The list goes on and on. I'll say it until I'm dead. Most of American politics is made up of two sides debating two delusions. Posted by: Tell It Like It Is at February 15, 2023 01:12 PM (flOYI) 421

Posted by: Axeman at February 15, 2023 01:10 PM (krQz2) ++++ The common ones are way fast. It's all what you know. If I have to remember some key combination then yeah, it's slow. If it's one that's muscle memory, though, it's blazing fast. I have a lot of hotkeys in "muscle memory" territory. This is actually one aspect of the "Ribbon" in MS Office that was a productivity game-changer. Almost everything follows rules-based, hierarchical keyboard navigation and I don't even have to think about it. But it does depend on you knowing them and not hunting for one you don't know unless it's an operation you'll repeat a lot that makes it worth committing the combination to muscle memory. It wasn’t the surge in crime, rampant inflation, unchecked migration across the southern border or rising fuel prices that put Biden in trouble. Somehow even as those problems mounted during his presidency’s first two years and he was blamed for much of it, Democrats stuck together.
Instead, the administration’s first real questioning came over Document-gate, classified material that had been sitting in his offices and homes contrary to law for years. CBS News broke the story that classified documents were found in Penn Biden Center offices before the midterm elections — but was kept from the public. What followed was the first real media frenzy Biden has had to face since he dropped out of the 1988 presidential race after plagiarizing his speech from a British politician. Biden has said in explanation basically nothing beyond the fact his Corvette was stored along with the documents later found at his house. Posted by: SMOD at February 15, 2023 01:17 PM (RHGPo) 446
