What exactly is "data literacy"? I'm not surprised that kids are doing poorly after being isolated and locked away from learning for so long, but what do they mean by that term? Basic math, science, and English skills? We used to call that something familiar and common-sense. What was it? Oh, yeah. "Math," "science," and "English." Today is the first day I have to park in preparation for avoiding a parade that would otherwise block my route home. It's several blocks away, and it is convenient for driving, but the walk may be a strain. Something in my lower back is bothering me. I'm going to call the Workman's Compensation office and (try to) convince them this is connected with my fall from last October. The pain is mostly on the side I landed on, after all.
I'll have to take this zigzag route again tomorrow and Friday, and then it's all over for another year. Maybe the last for me, I pray. Conservative Catholic reflects on the fact that we're in a spiritual and physical war. I get a bit impatient when some RC people insist that they're the "one true church" because I don't see the point of arguing this when the godless communists /progressives consider any "religion" but their own heretical and IMO it's "one faith, one Lord, one baptism" but this man makes a good point- that we are in a physical and spiritual battle:

Schools had been going tango uniform since long before the covid debacle. Shutdowns were just the nail in the coffin.
You hire nothing but brainwashed up-talking dimwits to be your teachers, and hamstring the handful of decent teachers that somehow manage to squeak through selection, and it's inevitable your students will turn into complete failures. But the hard truth of it is that it's almost always down to the parents anyway. Nobody at home who gives a shit about the kid? Kid's gonna have a rough time of it. Nobody taught the kid early on to shut the hell up and do what they're told? Some 20-year-old girl who's a complete stranger ain't gonna fix that. Especially if she ain't allowed to clip the little bastard with a yardstick for being a vicious little animal. And on the other other hand, you really want your kids to Do What They're Told at Public Dildo Academy anyway? The entire education system is a farce because it's been made compulsory and was captured by lunatics. And the No Child Left Behind ethos means every child gets stuck waiting at the starting gate while little dipshit nosepicker junior enjoys eating paste and torturing small animals. No one knows why girls are more susceptible to this kind of social influence. One theory is that women may seek out belonging more than men do, and may empathize more strongly with others’ suffering. But is there any evidence that colleges that have gone whole hog into multiculturalism have better relations among the various groups on campus?
Thomas Sowell: You want to see multiculturalism in action? Look at Yugoslavia, at Lebanon, at Sri Lanka, at Northern Ireland, at Azerbaijan, or wherever else group “identity” has been hyped. There is no point in the multiculturalists’ saying that this is not what they have in mind. You might as well open the floodgates and then say that you don’t mean for people to drown. Once you have opened the floodgates, you can’t tell the water where to do. Posted by: rhennigantx at February 15, 2023 07:19 AM (BRHaw) 199
