Inflation Increases, So Biden Celebrates

Although the month-to-month inflation rate popped up 0.5, much higher than the 0.1 rate of November and December which he previously celebrated as "zero percent inflation." (Spoiler: 0.1% inflation is not, in fact, "zero percent inflation.")

So inflation rose. But an even worse month of inflation (last January) dropped out of the annual figure, thus resulting in what appears to be a lower annual average rate.

So Biden's celebrating inflation actually going up, because he can point to the annual average rate and claim it's gone down.

Monthly inflation rose 0.5 percent from December to January, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, a higher increase than the 0.1 rise in November and December. However, annual inflation slowed to 6.4, continuing a seven-month decline from its peak of 9.1 percent in June.

Although annual inflation is still significantly higher than the Federal Reserve's 2 percent target, Biden celebrated the report as an economic win for the country, calling it "good news" for both families and businesses.

...

While annual inflation continued to cool, monthly inflation climbed significantly. January's inflation rose by 0.5 percent, an increase attributed to the rise in food, shelter and energy costs, according to the Labor Bureau. The increase outpaced expectations of economists surveyed by Dow Jones, which expected to see a 0.4 percent increase in January's inflation, CNBC reported.

Meanwhile, you can expect food and egg prices to rise, as the toxic cloud in Ohio kills livestock. At least, if this woman's experience is a guide:

I don't think commercial chicken farms are any better protected against airborne toxins.

PeterSweden
@PeterSweden7

They blew up Nordstream releasing 400 000 tons of greenhouse gases into the atmosphere.

They blew up the train in Ohio causing a massive disaster and huge cloud of toxic chemicals.

Weird how the climate change fanatics are all quiet about this [Thinking Face emoji]

gretapuppet.jpg

And what was Mayor Butt talking about yesterday? Well, he was talking about WHITE PEOPLE taking all of the super-high-salary, high-prestige construction jobs.

And then he cracked jokes about how hard he's had it as Transportation Secretary -- without mentioning the train derailment in Ohio.

The toxic cloud is crossing Kentucky and will enter West Virginia. I'm not reporting, I'm speculating, but a 200 mile radius affected area is going to cover a lot of pig and chicken farms.

The part in Atlas Shrugged about the disaster that destroys the rail tunnel in Colorado is a study in how unrealistic demands and administrative failures pile up in the face of reality. All the more reason for red states to wean themselves off the federal teat. They'd be better off forming a loose confederation amongst themselves to provide support in case of emergency. As Tucker pointed out in his show, there have been A LOT of train derailments in recent years. Way more than would be statistically possible even with the current state of the railways. Many of them are provably deliberate sabotage, as the saboteurs set up a system to "short out" the electrical systems of the train as they pass over the device.

Can you honestly say that though? I almost think we made too much of the 2008 recession. What I saw was a bunch of people that over paid for their house or rental property just threw the bank their keys and got another one.

The car companies that were going to go bankrupt anyway got bailed out, along with some Wall Street firms.

It is hard to imagine not having bearing temp and vibration detection in this day and age.

I guess not that hard - over regulate, bail out losses, and set fire to accidents, then bail out their liability for claims due to poisoning. You end up with companies that due the minimum necessary for the regulators. Instead of designing for profit and reduced risk, they design to the book.

And the kiddie commies will scream that we need more regulations and more government.
