Sefton: sefton at cutjibnewsletter.com | Andrew Cuomo: Let's Face It, the Southern States are Right on Immigration, and Joe Biden Opened Up the Border with No Plan at All for the Mass Rush by Illegal AliensEven Andrew Cuomo -- yes, corrupt former governor of New York Andrew Cuomo -- says "the southern states were right" about immigration and that Biden was wrong to "open the border" without a plan for what to do with the teeming millions who then swarmed into the US. Former New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo has ripped President Biden's chaotic open border policy -- blasting the administration as unprepared and admitting that the "southern states were right." "It was a mistake for President Biden to open the border without having a plan to handle the tremendous flow of people," Cuomo, 65, said in the latest episode of his "Matter of Fact" podcast, released Wednesday. "President Biden had said he would do it in the campaign -- but you can't change a policy unless you have the program in place to manage the change," he continued, referencing Biden's reversal of Trump-era restrictions on immigration to the US. The scandal-scarred former politician accused the Biden administration of not understanding the "consequences of enacting those promises." "The southern states were right that opening the border created a tremendous hardship for them to handle. They were right that the federal government was not prepared," Cuomo declared, though he disagreed with those states busing migrants north to sanctuary cities. This is the Murdoch-owned New York Post which is claiming the minimum-possible efforts to stop the unending flow of illegals into our country are "hardline" measures. "Hardline measures" like demanding that those applying for political asylum apply for asylum from Mexico, where they are obviously no longer threatened by the gangs and governments of their home countries which they are (quite) allegedly fleeing. Or "hardline measures" like demanding those supposedly fleeing their countries only for the sake of physical safety apply for asylum in the "first safe country" they travel to, instead of... you know, walking 500-800 miles to apply for asylum in a country which just happens to be the world's biggest magnet for purely economic migration. "Hardline" measures imposed by the heartless tyrant Trump, such as these. Whatever, Murdoch. Whatever, New York Post. By the way: New York, which is oh so welcoming of Undocumented Americans, is now busing those Undocumented Americans they love so much... to Canada. Via RealClearInvestigations: New York officials, who once condemned Texas leaders for busing migrants from the southern border, calling the treatment inhumane, are buying bus tickets for newcomers who want to go north and seek asylum in Canada. Mayor Eric Adams had originally welcomed the migrants, but he has since begun echoing the points of southern leaders, saying the city was buckling from the strain of absorbing more than 42,000 people in need. Now, city officials are assisting the relocation of a growing number of migrants traveling to New York's northern border, where crossings are surging. The arrival of the migrants has set off concern among officials in Canada, which has traditionally been welcoming to immigrants but is trying to discourage illegal crossings. Mr. Adams said on Tuesday that the city was not compelling people to leave, and that New York City's efforts to transport the migrants elsewhere were different from those of southern leaders. "We are not telling anyone to go to any country or state," he said. "We speak with people and they say their desire is to go somewhere else. So, there's no coordinated effort. We don't have a website, we don't have a recruitment campaign. We're not telling people go to another country."Except, they are: I remember when the residents of Nantucket Island were so welcoming of Undocumented Americans that they immediately put them on buses for a migrant camp in an army base. Every single crimigrant is coming here to make more money either by working or by welfare. "Hardline measures" like demanding that those applying for political asylum apply for asylum from Mexico, where they are obviously no longer threatened by the gangs and governments of their home countries which they are (quite) allegedly fleeing.
Isn't this what is required by international/treaties to which we are a party? Polliwog,
James Madison is right. Abbott was first. DeSantis did a high profile Martha's Vineyard flight but his subsequent flight to Delaware ended up being a mess both legally and logistically. That flight ended up in Nashville when for reasons unclear, issues, probably federal govt warnings, caused it not to go forward. Abbott gets the credit here as he has steadily been sending busses to all parts blue on a very regular basis. Even teh Dem mayor of El Paso was sending migrants via bus northwards. When R's shut up and took it, it was fine. Now that DeSantis & Abbot are punching back, the Dems lie & say they're all for security. Meanwhile, Biden keeps the border wide open. Asylum is not a vague concept, it's defined in our laws (ha!, work with me here). It's about persecution, on an individual basis, on specific grounds. And specifically not about living in a crime-ridden - or gang-dominated - neighborhood or city. It wasn't intended to be the basis for everyone on the planet living in a society with problems of some kind to immigrate to the US. It was a noble and real and pioneering thing, the sort of thing the US used to be known for, and it was a weapon against tyranny and real oppression. What's this about "the southern states"?
Mass illegal migration only became an issue in 2021/2022? Huh. Could've sworn it was mentioned before then. And there's not a bit of any game being changed here. The dismantling of the rule of law and the erasure of the border is comprehensive. The country was confronted with it, finally, in 2016 and given a choice. It chose well. However the start of the long process of returning to sanity and justice was hampered at every step by almost the entire political class, and in 2020 what progress had been made was thrown away. And the ratchet was then turned 30 clicks, instantly, not just one or two. Facts on the ground are completely unaffected by the ramblings of some stupid (and particularly so even by current standards) political has-been. There is and will be no material change by the Dems on this - nor by the GOP - and any would-be leader trying to crawl back towards sanity will face even longer odds than Trump did. The idiot Cuomo's comment was "no plan" to deal with the disastrous consequences of just about completely erasing the border. No plan. Not any sort of criticism of the idea of erasing the border, and reinforcing the de facto lawlessness that has characterized immigration for years (with a brief and partial change 2017-2021). Pedantic (but not really) interlude, directly related to my rant earlier re asylum.
Asylum in concept and in law is about refuge for persecuted individuals (NOT people living in a violent neighborhood). Refugees in concept and law are victims of conflict compelled to cross international borders (this remains the international definition*). There is an entire legal framework (ha! again, work with me here), bureaucratic infrastructure, and decades of experience with refugees (which started, along with many of the NGOs still involved, in the 1940s dealing with the massive "displaced person" problem in post-war Europe). But as with most things, imbecilic moral narcissism - which like a 10-yr old girl, is no more responsible or wise than "oh daddy can't we help the cute puppies??!!" - has taken over refugee matters. * the Azerbaijan massive internally displaced person issue in the 90s/beyond forced an adjustment about the cross-border thing Posted by: rhomboid at February 10, 2023 01:02 PM (OTzUX) 289

Command Economy.
Posted by: Aetius451AD -------- Aetius, if you want an interesting read, Read the Managerial Revolution from Walter Dean Burnham published in the 40's. Ironically at the time, WD Burnham was a commie but described the development of the nomenklatura to a t and how they would govern. As Burnham aged, he moved consistently to the right and ended up having a column for a time at National Review as well as a professorship at UT Austin. But, the managerial economy ignores the real problem where ownership and control get separated. Essentially, the managers end up running the place to their satisfaction which occurs under capitalism (see corporate management dysfunction), communism (the managers had it pretty spiffy which is why Vlad is nostalgic for that era) but front line workers, customers, and stockholders get screwed over and over again. Control and manipulation of information such as financials, true costs of products, and so on is one way that managers keep power over the masses. You can also apply that to any government institution too. Posted by: whig at February 10, 2023 01:03 PM (9gf4L) 301

Posted by: "Perfessor" Squirrel at February 10, 2023 12:55 PM (YIVH2) *** After the end of vietnam, the DoD decided we needed to look at ourselves. The Army created a "council of colonels" and they came up with a list of needed changes. No special treatment, nothing was off limits. Out of that came the Army of the 80's which was the Army at its best. We need this kind of introspection again. There isn't anyone on Active Duty today with experience fighting a mid or hi intensity war. The Brigade and Division commanders of today grew up in a military where platoons were sent out to break down doors on homes. Our Army needs an overhaul.
Posted by: whig at February 10, 2023 01:03 PM (9gf4L) Principal-agent problems are a pretty routine part of business education these days. Lots of compensation structure and business structure is designed to limit individual malfeasance. Wokeness managed to achieve very broad-based subversion though. Chemical warfare never was and isn't a game-changer in any military conflict of any size, and would have zero effect on the end result in Ukraine.
And if Russia didn't react to the murder of 10 Russian POWs on video in Makeevka back in November (and they didn't), they won't "react" to any chemical use either. Other than by continuing to work whatever plan they have. The infrastructure attacks that commenced after the Kerch bridge incident were probably on the menu at some point, as the electrified Uke railways are key to their logistics, so the bridge thing was probably just a (welcome) pretext. No nukes, no WWIII, no flying cars. Sorry. Posted by: rhomboid at February 10, 2023 01:09 PM (OTzUX) 317

They know exactly what to do with them.
1. Let them in 2. Temporarily detain them 3. Give them a court date to show up (wink-wink) 4. Make sure they get registered to vote Democrat 5. Explain how they can get welfare benefits 6. Let them go That's the Biden plan in a nutshell to ensure one party rule of the soon-to-be bricklaying and tomato picking country of the world, formerly known as the great United States. Let us pause here to once again thank the feckless, gutless, hopeless, dickless, worthless, low-licking, dirt-eating, scum-sucking sacks of monkey shit known as the REPUBLICAN PARTY for selling out the election and country in 2020, all for political expediency, a return to being whores for the Chamber of Commerce and to really piss all over middle America, the people who make the country work. So the G.O.P. can either fix 2020 or they can DIE! I want nothing more than to see that party lose everything. And when the nation falls - and it will - I hope the Republicans are the first ones in front of the firing squads. Hell, I'll bring popcorn and root on the shooters. FUCK THE G.O.P.!!!
