59 If I wanted to see where nuclear, biological or chemical fallout would spread... should I decide to use such devices, I'd want to map out the wind conditions over, and around my targets. I'd want to get detailed photos of potential ICBM fields, their layouts and GPS coordinates so my weapons could be dialed in and be more accurate.

I'd also want to gauge what my adversary would do as a result of my attacks. How many aircraft might sortie. How many missile silos are active. How long would it take for my enemy to respond.

I might use a balloon with some kit to monitor and report this type of info. Prior to any offensive actions.

But that's just nutz.

Years ago North Dakota put up a Billboard on I-94 heading west into Montana. Sign said, "Stay in North Dakota, Custer was alive when he left". Referring to Lt. Col. Custer's demise at the Battle of the Little Bighorn.

Montana reciprocated with a Billboard of their own on I-94 heading east in to North Dakota that looked like a North Dakota highway construction sign. Sign said, " Welcome to North Dakota, mountain removal project complete. Your tax dollars at work ."

there was an old farmer who had a sweet corn patch that promised to do well, and he had heard that if he froze the blanched ears in condoms they would stay fresh in the freezer longer. When the ears were getting mature, he went to the local pharmacy and asked for the largest box of condoms they had. The pharmacist handed over a box labled "100 condoms" The farmer thanked him and went back to his farm.
On Saturday and Sunday the farmer and his wife picked, shucked, blanched and froze the ears, and they stopped when they ran out of condoms. The wife counted and told the farmer that he'd been cheated, they only had 98 ears prepared.
On Monday, the farmer went back and told the pharmacist that the box he got sold was two condoms short, he only got 98. The pharmacist went to the stock room and came back with two condoms, handed them to farmer, and courteously said, "And I hope I didn't ruin your weekend."

Mushroom mulch is pretty good stuff to start with, but I make a mulch pile with layers of mushroom mulch, biochar (tiny bits of carbon from burned organic matter), microorganisms, chicken feed and plant food. Mix it all together in a big pile with plenty of water and let it "cook" for a week or so and you get something that really pumps up the nutrients in your soil.

Maybe it's 400 miles but the amount of debris is not enough to matter. You're talking about a screw in mile one. Maybe a solar panel in mile six. 400 miles sounds scary but if we're talking about a dumpster full of debris, it's inconsequential.

Problem: it's 60k feet up. That's no joke. Lasers are probably the only way from the ground and that's gonna need a lot of juice. I have a feeling that the DOTFED knows everyone that owns a rig with that power.

Another way would be another balloon launched like 2 days ago to intercept it with a 'barbed wire' mesh net payload. Again, more problems because that would violate any number of FAA regs and it would definitely be shot down by the DOTFED.

Rocket with a 'barbed wire' mesh net payload: again the DOTFED knows the people that can and do that sort of amateur launch.

TLR: no chance unless you've retired from a job in the DOTFED during which you covered your ass, and have since hidden yourself successfully in some RF deadzone without any banking accounts, internet access, or any kind of medical record.

Columbia was a solid mass ship traveling at high speed that exploded internally. This is a balloon that is moving slower than Brandon on a good day. It's going to take 60 hours to meander from St Louis to the Atlantic.

Meh. He's extremely difficult to apply to anything real. Show me a battle - or even a card game or a fist fight - where one can "win" without sacrificing something in return.

When I was still working for a paycheck in manufacturing, you'd get these managers strolling around trying to apply such subjective philosophy to real world shit. And believe me, there was a decade or so where really upward moving dudes really did try to apply The Art of War to - say - an assembly line.

I assume it worked about as well as if a fresh faced Lt. Sun Tzu commanded a real platoon. Not worth a damn. Makes for good poetry, though.

323 U.S. air that can operate at 60k ft., is a small class indeed.

F-22

F-15 C (the dual role "E" Strike Eagle with it's conformal fuel tanks and other weight added features, nope)

U-2 (but simply isn't configured to deliver weapons.

RB-57 (latest marque) Can fly to 70k ft, and has a bay suitable for weapons. Built in 1954, still in service. And can do the job.

Global Hawk. Jet UAV. Routinely flies up to 60k. Armed. Capable. Just needs to have the right operator with the right orders in the control Conex.

Jack - you know why bosses love Sun Tzu so much ? Seriously ? Because that philosophy only works if you're in control. Sun Tzu is fucking crack cocaine to managers.

Let's start at the beginning. It's better to capture an enemy than destroy him ? Fabulous - but what happens when you don't have that luxury - because you don't have overwhelming force ? Well, best get down to killing and being killed.

Everything Sun Tzu ever wrote is based upon controlling the battlefield. How to maximize your win, assuming you've done all the nasty shit required to win. It's not a formula for success. Sun Tzu would have been the first motivational speaker. Or life coach.

That you had a boss "sit you down, to explain it" is absolutely perfect.
