History Doesn't Repeat But Sometimes the Ink Bleeds Through Video of the Day

This is the same guy as yesterday, but reacting to a different source, one that is rather topical given the complete fucking insanity that goes on in the crypto markets.

The South Sea Company was formed to take on the British government's debt, but its share value ballooned out to ten times that before the bubble popped, equivalent to a single US company today having a market cap of $315 trillion - about eight times the combined value of all American companies across all stock exchanges.

Watching an episode of Motorweek just now and they are showing how Longmont Colorado is oh so green with their trash collection trucks that use methane (OMG) to run.
They are making the methane from the city's sewage treatment facility. They show the process on how they make it. Store it. Pipe it to the Brand New special built fueling facility to fuel the Brand New trucks so that they can pick up your garbage.
Of course Motorweek host, John Davis, says...sure there is an investment, but they FEEL that it will pay off sooner than later, and in the meantime GREEN GREEN GREEN!!!

Nothing about the costs of more city employees, the facilities, the buildings and process maintenance...nothing.

Methane is natural gas right? So making natural gas from sewage waste is kinda cool. Except the left doesn't like drilling for natural gas or using it to heat a home or in a gas stove.

86 Former executive editor for The Washington Post Leonard Downie Jr. and former CBS News President Andrew Heyward interviewed over 75 media leaders to gauge how the industry views the concept of “objectivity.” The media figures argued that journalists should include their own beliefs, biases, and experiences to convey truth, and that journalistic objectivity was either unrealistic or undesirable.

“Objectivity has got to go,” said Emilio Garcia-Ruiz, editor-in-chief at the San Francisco Chronicle.

That's the thing, though. It will be the hour hand of the clock. There won't be a "first couple of weeks." It will be like gas cans that work and the short-sighted auto-shut off on cars that saves 0.02 mpg but wears out the starter.

It will happen and people will live in constant and perpetual unescapable misery, except for the Gates and Schwabs and other people who are exempt. Almost like there's a historical context that was just mentioned above.

And the Overton window will have moved to the point where we can't return. America, and the world, will have a Roman concrete moment.

97 So far, no one in power has thought to use the agricultural protection stations unique to California entry points for seeking out illegal weaponry. Rather, they exclusively examine fruits and vegetables before any are allowed into the state. Some vehicles are searched more thoroughly than others, but not for weapons. Without much controversy, inspectors look for weevils and other bugs that can decimate forests and fields.

There are somewhere north of 4 million illegal aliens in California. Nothing is known of their health, their education, or their criminality. This is ignored.
But using the fruit check station to search for guns that are constitutionally legal and legal in 49 other states is going to make Cali more safe.

103 There are somewhere north of 4 million illegal aliens in California. Nothing is known of their health, their education, or their criminality.

This is one of the most absurd statements I've ever seen.

We absolutely, 100% know they're criminals and willing to break the law. That can't be argued. And I'm willing to bet there has been $100M+ in grant money to foundations and colleges spent over the last twenty years studying their near disdain for both health and education. I'm willing to bet a decent amount of money that we have the ability to predict with near certainty their "criminality, health, and education."

133 It was Super Bowl Sunday in February 2019. Cynthia Rivers and her husband decided that their kids, ages seven and nine, deserved a long-promised treat for cleaning their rooms: the right to walk to Dunkin' Donuts by themselves.

The officers also claimed that they had received a dozen 911 calls about the kids during the short time they were gone. Rivers thought this was unlikely, as they had only made it past four other homes. But whatever the rationale, the officers proceeded to charge Rivers' husband with risk of injury to a minor. They charged Rivers separately for the same thing. Then they arrested her husband and took him away.

They should have claimed to be illegal aliens.

Why do we need elementary schools with 400 to 600 kids? So you need maybe 1000 sq ft per class and so in a 10k building you could have 9 or 10 class for k-5. Kids could walk to school and not need to be bused across town to some mega complex.

Same as guns, fruits, illegals, gangs, drugs, welfare, etc.

Nothing is real. They couldn't care less about the kids. It's a job for the staff and a way to move money through the system. The kids are required as an excuse.

As we saw during COVID, if they can get rid of them and ask for billions more dollars while they aren't even in school using fuel, HVAC, lunches, etc., they will.

And they'll get it.

Posted by: Indignacio Vindacatorem at February 01, 2023 06:41 AM

The high-end chips, such as processors and memory, never really were unavailable. It was the low end parts, like the voltage regulators and power monitors that I work with, that you couldn't get. Those little chips are used in just about every freaking thing and nobody wants to add capacity for them because they're not terribly profitable because just about everybody can make them. All that means that the folks that make the high-end chips, like Intel and AMD, couldn't sell as many of those high-end chips as they could make because board manufacturers couldn't get enough voltage regulators and hot swap controllers to make the computers.

166 You can structure tech companies in several ways. Intel uses the older in which 90+% of the pay of the grunts comes from salary rather than bonuses. That makes layoffs very tempting when troubled times start.

The newer way many tech companies works is to try for something where about 75% of nominal pay comes from salary, 25% from bonuses. It's easier psychologically to cut bonuses in hard times, and it tends to make keeping your chip designers around easier. It makes your company's reputation more solid, and if you've been through layoffs you should know the impact it has on productivity of the survivors.
