Prosecutors: Alec Baldwin Admitted He "Fired" the Gun That Killed the Cinematographer

According to the statement of probable cause filed to justify the charges:

BALDWIN approached responding deputies on the day of the shooting, wanting to talk to them because he was the one who '...fired...' the gun. He was referred to and later interviewed by detective(s).

Baldwin has argued since shortly after the incident that he didn't pull the trigger, and that the gun, somehow, just went off. His admission that he "fired" the gun isn't exactly the same as admitting he "pulled the trigger," and I'm sure he'll further argue that, but it does sound like he admitted he pulled the trigger, before he talked with his lawyers and decided on the "gun just went off" defense.

Wait, is that all there is to this post? I'll post another one in half an hour.

Alec Baldwin Was ‘Distracted’ on His Phone During ‘Rust’ Gun Training, Prosecutors Say

Alec Baldwin “was not present” for a required firearms training before filming started for Rust, prosecutors said in documents officially charging the actor and producer with involuntary manslaughter on Tuesday. He was then provided on-set training, during which he was “distracted and talking on his cell phone to his family.”

That is ONE of his stories. The deposition he gave, he cannot seem to decide what the hell is going on (which makes sense.) IIRC, he was more going along the lines of 'the gun was loaded with blanks, what could have killed that woman that I do not give a shit about.'

22 They should change the venue to San Juan county. There are more hunters and shooters up there who could accurately determine who pulled the trigger if Alec Baldwin was holding the gun that fired while his finger was on the trigger. Santa Fe county is full of leftist a-holes and Cali imports.

33 This is not intended to defend Baldwin but hitching on to what terms he used immediately after killing someone he knew is sort of lame. What if he, distraught, had said "I murdered her! Oh no!" ??

They sent some poor woman here to jail (I'm really hoping that it was reversed) because she was babysitting some kids in foster care and the first night the little baby died from having been sick for a while. The convicted her because she "confessed" to police. Just reading the newspaper it was bull shit. She didn't know the infant was sick, she wasn't the primary caregiver, she was a "relief" employee to babysit when the foster parents couldn't be bothered, and when the fussy baby fell asleep she thought everything was fine. She was utterly DISTRAUGHT when the police questioned her. Because any normal person would be and she was "Oh, no! I let this happen, Oh no! Oh no! I should have done something, Oh no!"

So, you know, just on principle, what people say right after a traumatic event is sort of useless if someone is trying to find the truth.

As usual with a f*ckup this big, there is a whole chain of smaller f*ckups leading up to it. Not doing any one of them would have broken the chain and prevented the final result. That doesn't absolve Baldwin of anything but there are plenty of f*ckups to go around.

Maybe his legal liabilities if he does so are a consideration to him, but based on his statements and actions so far, I don't think he has come to understand his responsibility for this. The kid glove treatment he has received so far from law enforcement hasn't helped him. So I'll hold off and hope he doesn't drag this out and cause further pain to the relatives and friends of the people he killed.

85 Alec, your smug arrogance killed that woman unless you meant to murder her. You ignored multiple basic rules of gun safety, plus formal rules that Hollywood has for workplace safety.

I'm sure I break all kinds of safety rules when I use power tools; including the chainsaw but I do keep in mind that the chainsaw could take one of MY limbs off when I use it and when I'm handling a firearm I even more keep in mind that "This is a deadly weapon" heck I can't even bring myself to point a toy gun directly at someone. I'd damn sure never be pointing a real pistol at someone and counting on it being loaded with blanks. No semi intelligent sane person would do that. You'd always make sure to point the pistol at least a bit off, even in a fight scene.

https://tinyurl.com/2c3mhah5

The CDC has issued an urgent warning over eye-drops. 50 people in 11 states have been infected with a rare type of drug resistance bacteria. One person has died, and several more have been permanently blinded.

All of 50 used a particular brand of Artificial Tears eye drops. There is no proof that these eye drops are the cause, but they've pulled them for the shelves and issued a warning not to use them.

Again, I ask, what's wrong with this picture?

111 Speculation but I'd guess he'd pulled the hammer back to single action to strike a cool cowboy pose, and then inadvertently (while violating every gun safety rule) put enough pressure on the trigger to have it go off.

I find it hard to believe that, unless he intentionally intended to go "click" at the camera woman he could have inadvertently pulled the trigger on an old Colt in double action.

Posted by: Zek at February 01, 2023 05:46 PM

Depending on the gun, once you pull the hammer back it can only take 3-4 pounds of pressure on the trigger to make it go bang sometimes even less. I had a Colt 1860 Army black powder revolver that literally had a hair trigger right out of the box. Once you brought that thing to full cock a stiff breeze could make it fire.

157 From an early report, he was upset with the number of takes the producer was getting, said something along the lines of "how about I shoot you instead" and proceeded to aim and fire the pistol.
The pistol, an Italian clone of a colt single action, must have the hammer pulled back and the trigger pulled in order to fire. If his thumb had slipped while cocking it, without the trigger being squeezed, the hammer would have been caught by the half cock notch and the pistol would not have fired.
He may have gone off half cocked, but the firearm didn't.

193 Even pulling the trigger isn't where his guilt lies....he had to have cocked it as well, unless/until it is cocked it CAN NOT go off. If he didn't touch the trigger, just partially cocked and dropped the hammer? He shot it. If it went to full cock, he HAD to pull the trigger for it to go off.
I have a similar model gun right here at my desk, practice left hand fan/roll firing it three times in half a second or so. Sometimes 20 times a day. EVERY time I pick it up from the drawer I check the chambers, even though it hasn't been loaded in at least a year, there are no rounds for it anywhere in the room. No one else has access to my office...ever.
Every other gun in the house that isn't in a safe? Is loaded, all of the time.
Every gun in the safes are unloaded, all of the time.
No one else EVER touches any gun in my home unless/until it is unloaded first....by me.
I never touch any gun anywhere, without unloading or checking it empty 1st... by Me.

195 Been outside with a floor bully busting ice from the walk and driveway. 29 degrees but the ice is melting. Must be residual heat from the ground/concrete finally making it's way to the surface to melt the ice. We are supposed to get another icy mix tonight here in NE Texas so i am trying to get ahead of it. Hard work.

197 Hard work is why I say I have no use for snow

198 If ground and especially black top isn't really froze it will clear easy. Bottom of my driveway faces north, hardly gets sun now and is lots of work in snow storms as road gets plowed onto it and it's nothing but work to keep clear.

200 I guess it depends on what "fired" means.

Isn't that what the Left's Get-Out-Of-Jail Free card says?

201 Rule 1--Don't talk to the cops.
Rule 1--See Rule 1.

This whole BS he pushes about pulling the trigger is just that. He was shooting an off the shelf single action. Either he had the trigger pulled back and pulled the hammer and let it go, or he touched the trigger and it fired. The trigger pull on a single action revolver is probably 4 ounces.

Anyone want to chip in for an NRA membership for him?

202 I am making $100 an hour working from home. I never imagined that it was honest to goodness yet my closest companion is earning $16,000 a month by working on a laptop, that was truly astounding for me, she prescribed for me to attempt it simply.
I highly recommend everyone to apply… www.Payathome7.com
