Note that California was never a slave state; they base this on what they claim was both "intentional and unintentional" discrimination. Oh, and in addition to the five million, all debt would be erased. Too bad for the debt-holder.A San Francisco panel studying reparations has proposed a one-time payment of $5 million to each black resident of the city deemed eligible as recompense for the "decades of harm they have experienced," according to a report on Monday. "A lump sum payment would compensate the affected population... and will redress the economic and opportunity losses that Black San Franciscans have endured, collectively, as the result of both intentional decisions and unintended harms perpetuated by City policy," the San Francisco African American Reparations Advisory Committee said in a draft report issued last month, Fox News Digital reported. The committee also proposed wiping out all debts associated with educational, personal, credit card and payday loans for black households. Also via Twitchy: There's a new form of rap, apparently called "drill rap" (don't ask me why), in which you're not just supposed to have a criminal background or pose as having once been a criminal, but rather you're expected to currently engage in serious crimes and document those crimes in your raps. Because those crimes are real, and these drill rappers are actually confessing them in recordings, prosecutors are naturally using them as confessions in court. For some bizarre reason, leftwing defense attorneys are claiming you can't use someone's voluntary confessions against them in court. Because it's... free expression or art or something. This professor claims that to use this feller's rapped confessions against him is... racist, because... well you'll see. Lara BazelonUm but those "crimes" didn't really happen. They were made up. This defendant -- "Young Thug," he calls himself, which is a bit of a Red Flag right there -- is actually the leader of a criminal gang, and he's rapping about the activities of that criminal gang, and a lot of what he's rapping about is known to have actually happened. But this doesn't happen to white artists, you know. Yeah well Phil Spector never recorded So I Shot That Broad In the Head. Some on Twitter are reminding everyone of what the authorities in the US and Canada did to their captive populations in the name of "The Science." They sent armed thugs to choke women, for example. Security guards attacked this snowboarder for not wearing a mask outside on the slopes. Alan Dershowitz declared, "You have no right not to be vaccinated, you have no right not to wear a mask, and if you refuse to be vaccinated, the state should have the power to take you to a doctors office and plunge a needle into your arm."

We had an attempted mass shooting at Mrs. Wrecks' work. A guy in the parking lot between the rehabilitation hospital where Mrs. Wrecks works and some low income apartments fired about thirty rounds, some say from an automatic weapon. Building and cars shot up but, so far as I know, no casualties.

-plane flew around with a "we want a vote on TEXIT" banner -Lt. Most were nice, especially the one guy handling the skittish German Shorthair pointer. She was very sweet and he said it was okay to pet her since she was so nervous and he just wanted her to he happy. - GOD was constantly and unapologetically brought up and spoken of throughout. Probably half or more of those interned were dual citizens or Japanese subjects, which under Geneva meant that separation from the local population, internment, and protection were the obligation of the belligerent host country (us).
You can spend a lifetime at the Manzanar museum and never know this, nor of course do I recall anything at all on the actual motivation for the internment, or the background to it (intelligence and communications intercepts). Of course it was all (well, for the US citizens at least) quite out of bounds under the constitution (so Korematsu was a stupid disaster). Have never been able to find anything on internment of US citizens of Italian or German descent (not duals, not foreign citizens, again who under Geneva technically should have been separated, interned, and protected).
Italian and German civilians and merchant seamen definitely interned when war declared and they were here. Italian-Americans wronged, a la Japanese-Americans, in removal/loss of property & businesses in "strategic" west coast locations (ports, basically - I think Joe DiMaggio's parents and their food business included). Very hard to find good info on it. Meanwhile, the mafia was enlisted to help maintain labor discipline in east coast ports (FBI agreement with Lucky Luciano). History can be complicated. Which is why it must be erased or distorted in our current tsunami of idiotic moral narcissism and ignorance. Posted by: rhomboid at January 17, 2023 07:01 PM (OTzUX) 155

"The Science"
Seething. Daughter here from CA with the young grandkids called to say that the 4yr old's teachers have Covid. She is now in a tailspin about their visit to us, and relatives in Dallas, she and Dad are taking multiple tests, she's obsessing about what would be safe to do while they're here, etc. etc. I appreciate the concern, but am so angry that she has been brainwashed to the point that she can't seem to make decisions on a rational basis. To her, they, their four-year old, her parents (who've already had Covid recently), her cancer survivor brother and her 98 year old grandmother are all on the same risk level. This is going to put a huge damper on their visit. So furious with PTBs. Posted by: sal: tolle adversarium et afflige inimicum at January 17, 2023 07:05 PM (wE246) 166

18-1 and Beartooth rightly raise the Nihau Incident, which was sort of the nightmare scenario involving Japanese-Americans helping Japan. Which of course was not replicated anywhere else, but again, context context context.
Ironically, when the internment issue was being debated - quite viciously - inside the government, the Army command of the territory of Hawaii didn't favor it there, as they felt they had the Japanese intel situation under control. West coast was a different matter. There had been an ongoing effort against Japanese intelligence networks, including arrests, all aided by our ability to read Japanese diplomatic traffic. And the "exclusion zone" for Japanese-Americans included the AZ border area. Inexplicable unless one understands what actually happened. Posted by: rhomboid at January 17, 2023 07:08 PM (OTzUX) 175

I grew up just south of San Francisco and spent 3/4 of my life in the area. The funniest part of this whole thing is there are hardly any Blacks left there due to the City gentrifying the areas they mostly lived in. Bayview-Hunter's Point? Nope. SOMA? Nope. As a kid it was scary AF leaving Candlestick Park and driving back through Bayview. Now?Condos.
The rich Democrats in the City and the Democrat City Government basically drove the Blacks out. These Reparations will only cost about $30M. Posted by: Little Larry Sellers at January 17, 2023 08:23 PM (KouR0) 233
Day XX: Lawyer successfully defends Young Thug, in what is now called the Young Thug defense.
Also day XX: Lawyer dies of blunt trauma from a baseball bat during a live recording of a cover of the Ramones' "Beat On The Brat". The artists are not charged, having claimed the Young Thug defense. In a related case, Young Thug also succumbs to baseball bat-related injuries. Posted by: Another Anon at January 17, 2023 09:12 PM (XRMQ8) 234
