Sound on: Hi!

Is it seven thirty yet?

Spend some quality time this weekend with someone you love.

Some nice-lookin' beavers.

Generation Z.

Dog has figured out how to solo a see-saw.

Dam letting off a little bit of steam.

I could do this, if I felt like it.

Goats climbing up a wall as if gravity was a joke.

From the All-Goat reboot of Gene Wilder and Richard Pryor's comedy Silver Streak. "We bad... we bad.."

I think if I said Stir Crazy people might get the reference better but "We bad... we bad..." was actually in Silver Streak, not Stir Crazy. I'd rather be right than than understood.

Sound on: Did you ever have a dream so wonderful you swore it was real...?

Puppy's first day herding sheep, and he's already a pro.

Steve Inman: Instant Charma.

Store owner gives a belligerent non-customer a Colt 45, on the house.

Andy Tifa gets a mouth full of phosphorous:

This is kind of crazy:

29 I saw Silver Streak on an airliner back in 1976 when I was 13. My dad and I were coming back from Columbia.

We drove down to Panama in a 1966 step side Chevy shortbed, which was then shipped to Columbia, never to return. We flew to Columbia to pick up the truck only to find out we couldn't, so we took planes, buses, taxies, and canoes to our destination.

Coming back we flew to Florida then home. That's when I saw the movie.

yeah what are you supposed to do?

Malmouth recommended the movie Stuber. I might check it out. The critics hated it but they're stupid.

There's a funny line in the trailer where Nanjiani asks Dave Bautista if he ever jumped in front of a bullet to save a protectee.

Bautista asks, "Do you really think once someone fires a bullet, you have time to jump in front of it?"

Nanjani looks confused and says, "Now that you say it I am starting to doubt the whole concept."

That kind of reminds me of "be aware of your surroundings when the whole mountain decides to collapse in a five hundred yard cone all around you."

Every concert I saw by Tull was a theme. They were master showmen, and master promoters. I enjoyed every one, and I think I saw 3 or 4. Dunno. I never felt cheated, that I know.
Haven't listened to a thing they did for 30 years, though, so in the big picture, they only became millionaires, not billionaires. Both of us are content. True capitalism.

It's weird how little uncontrollable stuff like that changes the entire course of a person's life.

Our son enjoyed a sport and wanted to play the organized version in the community, and then at the tryouts the coach organizing the teams was indifferent to the children he hadn't seen before and did something that made our kid lose interest. Poof. It was gone. He didn't care about it at all any longer and didn't want to do it with the organized teams. We've knocked around playing at home, but he couldn't care less about it as a game with other people any longer.

It's crazy to think that 10 seconds to five minutes of a persons life at the right time will change their entire future so dramatically.

Sounds like it should. It was created in 1930, and earned its name from a fan who applied it on her child’s grazed knee, and found that it had magically healed after eight hours.

Beyond that, the Elizabeth Arden website helpfully outlines eight different ways to use this near-magical moisturizer, among which are "relieve weary feet," "smooth strands and moisturize dry ends" and "create instant radiance" on collarbones and cheeks.

With this much power, this is going to have to enter the HordeSource's pharmacopeia.

In one of Isaac Asimov's autobiographies (unlike Barky, he actually had some justification for writing more than one, as he had many genuine accomplishments) he talks about how the dream of Jewish parents when he was a kid was for their son to be a doctor or a chemist (chemistry was basically the dot com of the time... vast fortunes were made).

221 The Sheriffs or other county-level officials of 84 Illinois counties (so far) have announced that they will NOT enforce Fat Boy Pritzker's latest gun grab.

All well and good, and I agree with their sentiment.

But it'll end with Sheriffs either drawing guns on State Troopers, or turning a blind eye as State Troopers snag Southern Illinois residents.

And if it turns into the latter ? With Sheriffs impeding State Troopers ? Is that the kind of chaos some here are willing to accept ?

267 The earth isn't finished. An obvious part of that is eroding cliffsides, with occasional slump (slides), along the beach in certain places.

San Diego County has two places that have had fatal one-in-a-billion-shot, doc slides in the last 15 (?) years. One was at Torrey Pines state beach (right below where the golf tournament will be in two weeks). Think I remember it was a visitor from WI, just sitting there enjoying the beautiful scene, who was buried by a slide. Other incident was a bit north in Solana Beach, I think. Similar - though much smaller cliffs.

Of course there are (and were, I think) signs along the crotch of the cliff every so often warning of slide danger. But to actually be there when one happens, and be unable to escape it - seems as unlikely as a fatal hit from a meteorite.

Sending the state popo in to take direct control of the law enforcement of the counties is a seriously dangerous step. Most state police were established after WWI, where the Sheriff of each county was the main and sometimes only law enforcement in the county on statehood and remains so even though the legislature has been stealing from them since then. The DA works in the Sheriff's office, even.

What we have is a problem with rules pushed through from urban centers to affect the outlying areas that rejected them. Can we claim "law enforcement through consensus" if there is no local consent and enforcement is more akin to a conquering army?

Right now this is at the bluff and look big stage, it is like a bar fight, and we will see what happens.

Also happens when the Fed sends in control. Hence, Ruby Ridge and Waco. These dangerous steps are already defined. And already set in precedent.

The horse has been out of the barn for a long, long time. Even if Normal Rockwell didn't paint it.

289 Hilarious about the Elizabeth Arden cream being sold out. If SNL was still funny they'd do a fake ad with Harry hawking it for all his intimate moments, whilst thinking of mummy.

I missed the Harry cream thread yesterday... rumor is Meghan us such a sociopath, she researched him before their first date and wore the exact same perfume Diana wore. It was part of what subconsciously got him hooked on her from the start, his mummy's dead scent. Gross.

I chalked it up as maybe true, maybe not, but now this stuff with his mom's lotion... Freud lived in the wrong era, he would have loved Harry.

Hi ...

I'm doing ok, how about you? Things are still sideways re: my Jeep not being fixed and my stuff stuck in a warehouse in Laramie while I'm in SC, but the first week of the new job seems to have gone well. Every time something went off the rails, friends and family (including the Horde) have come alongside me to look after my cat, store my firearms, lend me basic stuff to "camp" in my apartment etc.

297 I've made my feelings here about jab coercion pretty well known. I was fortunate that I was never faced with the decision, because I knew from the get-go that there was something horribly wrong with the whole "campaign". Already had lost part of my family due to my refusal and most likely would have lost my job, had my employer been an acolyte.

Posted by: Notorious BFD at January 13, 2023 09:33 PM (Xrfse)

298 It is completely and totally illegal to force anyone to participate in experimental medical studies, particularly, they have to provide informed consent.

Coercion is unlawful.

One of the more bizarre conversations was with someone, practically hysterical, insisting that employers threatening to fire someone for not taking an experimental, emergency use only vaccine was not coercing anyone, because "you can choose to quit and get another job somewhere else."

Now is this person a complete idiot? Nobody believes that logic, do they?

I was just astonished how truly misinformed everyone was. They were all doing cartwheels on their front lawn "Yay! I got signed up to take the Jab!! Neener neener!!" I merely suggested that perhaps, maybe, an experimental vaccine may have some untoward side effects, and it was like I'd blasphemed. "It's just like the annual Flu Shot, there isn't anything experimental about it."

Then patiently explain, yes Virginia, it is experimental. Brand new mRna tech, never really been tried.

Some of these people are now dead.

Ma'am, my circumstances were such that I was able to avoid the shot. That doesn't make me greater than anyone, just a little luckier.

I worry about my friends and family who took the shot(s) due to the stories we see every day. I wonder if one of them will be next. I also know that death won't give it shit if you got the shot or not when it's your time. I'd say ask my son, but you already know that story.
