The Morning Report — 12/30/22

warrencherrysantos.jpg

Good morning, kids. Friday and the penultimate day of our third consecutive accursed year 2022. I believe I covered it yesterday, as well as on the year's final podcast episode, but let me just add two words to the truly nauseating reaction to GOP Rep-elect George Santos:

Elizabeth Warren

Also, Joe Biden. Oops, that's four words – wait, if I don't stop now this turns into the Monty Python "Spanish Inquisition" sketch. Our government, with very rare exception, is comprised of individuals that range from, at best seriously lacking, all the way down to utterly devoid of morals, values, ethics, character or scruples. On both sides of the mythical aisle. In fact, given who and what the Democrat-Left are, the most irritating thing has been the fainting-couch case-of-the-vapors reaction from the GOP and those who are somewhat GOP-adjacent. That's aimed also at you, Tulsi Gabbard. You just went down a big notch in my opinion of you. In any case, I give you the estimable Daniel Greenfield:

If politicians have to resign for lying, there wouldn’t be any left. If they were expected to resign for faking their biographies, we might have a few dozen left. And we’d be better off for it.

What is truly nauseating is the selective outrage by a cultural revolution that rediscovers truth and ethics on a temporary basis when it’s politically convenient.

The truth about George Santos appears to be that he has the same shaky relationship with truth as the leadership of the Democratic Party. Just ask Joe Biden, if you can catch him in between desegregating movie theaters with the black and Puerto Rican communities, visiting synagogues, battling gang members, being forced down in Afghanistan, joining the Naval academy, getting a tryout for the NFL, graduating in the top half of his class, losing his first wife to a drunk driver, nearly losing his second wife to lightning, his son in Iraq and then awarding a medal to his dead uncle on the advice of his dead dad.

It would be wonderful if all the lying stopped. It would be a good start if the party of liars stopped acting like they care about a fake biography when all of their biographies are fake.

Why does Biden lie so much? The easy answer is because he gets away with it.

Lying, like most political crimes, has become politically selective, allowing leftists to get away with anything while throwing the book at non-leftists.

Yes, there are standards and there are double standards. The GOP dutifully plays the role of whipping boy to Democrats' wearing the moldering skin-suit of Lady Liberty swaddled in the Shroud of Turin. Like everything else, we are expected to play by rules that they ether totally ignore or change to ensure they come out on top – all without a peep of protest. I've had it with that crap.

Let me just say this, and I'll say no more. I could care fuck-all about George Santos being a fabulist so long as he does one thing and one thing only: vote either "NO" or "HELL NO" on every single piece of Leftist and/or "bipartisan" legislation for his entire career. This should be the crux of the message everyone allegedly on our side should be stating.

In that light, to hell with Frank Luntz's adult catamite Kevin McCarthy. I hereby propose George Santos should be elected Majority Leader and House Speaker for the coming term.

Meanwhile, in another part of the forest, and not entirely unrelated to the Santos kerfuffle, the continued calls from our side to throw trillions of dollars at Ukraine for its war with Putin's Russia allegedly to protect our vital national interests and security. You want to talk about a lie? You don't get much bigger than that.

One need not be a NeverTrumper, Russiagate obsessive, or nostalgist for 1990s globaloney to see that the conquest of a major central European country by Putin damages the United States. Stopping it in ways that make future invasions less likely, whether by Russia or China—and doing so without direct U.S. military intervention—is well worth the investment, albeit with critical caveats.

A bloodied, discredited Russia gives Xi pause as he considers a cross-straits invasion. U.S. spine in Ukraine makes our warnings to China credible—at a time when the military balance in the Pacific is precarious, given U.S. shortcomings relative to Beijing’s modernization program and inherent home field advantage. We need every ration of deterrence we can get.

Uh huh. Here's the fellow who penned this.

Jeffrey Jeb Nadaner was deputy assistant secretary of defense in the Trump Administration.

Not necessarily a dig at Trump, but anyone with the name "Jeb" is instantly discredited, Jeb Stuart notwithstanding. Regardless of the correlations, real or imagined, between Peking and Moscow, it's still not our fight. Period. Where the hell is Germany, let alone every other European nation that supposedly is threatened by this? Spend your own blood and treasure and do a Barbarossa 2: Reverse Fulda Gap Boogaloo (minus the Einsatzgruppen, please). In any case, it's still our money because NATO has been essentially an American enterprise since 1945 to the tune of at least 90% funding. 75 years of American taxpayers money, for what?

It's graft all the way down. And as CBD pointed out on the podcast, if somehow Zelensky prevails, here's what we have to look forward to:

Ukraine announced Wednesday that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky had a video teleconference with BlackRock Chief Executive Officer Larry Fink. The pair apparently struck a deal to coordinate investment efforts to rebuild the war-torn nation. . .

. . . One such preliminary agreement struck between BlackRock and Ukraine was a memorandum of understanding signed by the Ukrainian Ministry of Economy and BlackRock Financial Markets Advisory in Washington, D.C., on November 10, 2022. The memo said that BlackRock FMA would advise the Ukrainian government, specifically the Ministry of Economy, on an investment roadmap for the reconstruction of Ukraine’s economy. . .

. . . It is all rather infuriating: one can almost guarantee BlackRock is getting paid handsomely by the Ukrainian government for advising on this reconstruction roadmap. And where is the Ukrainian government currently getting its funding, given its economy is in shambles and war is an expensive undertaking? The United States government, of course. By the end of the calendar year, the U.S. will have provided $13 billion in direct budgetary support for Ukraine’s government to avoid shortfalls and outright bankruptcy, and [so-called quote-unquote "president"] Joe Biden has promised to support Ukraine for “as long as it takes.”

So, BlackRock gets paid by U.S. taxpayers via the Ukrainian government to devise a plan that ensures the success of their future investments in Ukraine, made from money gained by making American housing unaffordable. With a deal like that for our financial and political elite, why would they ever want peace?

But George Santos is a liar and must not be allowed to serve in Congress, AND he should go to jail!!! Paging Tulsi Gabbard.

* * * * *

My friends, since this is the last Morning Report for the year, I want to wish all of you and yours the very best for the coming new year. No doubt, it will be fraught with even more challenges but we'll muddle through somehow.

Thanks go to Ace and the cobs for their fellowship, and to all of you for the continued support and encouragement, and for being bar none the best damned site on the internet.

See you tomorrow for the hobby thread and see you all next year. Happy New Year!

    ABOVE THE FOLD, BREAKING, NOTEWORTHY

  • Daniel Greenfield: "Democrats suddenly claim to care about truth. The truth is they’re all liars."
If George Santos Should Resign, So Should Biden (I support Santos for Majority Leader/House Speaker - jjs)
  • "BlackRock will be creating a roadmap for reconstruction for Ukraine." (CBD essentially called this on the podcast - jjs)
    BlackRock Plots to Buy Ukraine
  • Advertising is carrying the water for a Leftist political and academic establishment. Its influence, because tacit, allusive, unspoken, and only intimated, is perhaps the most effective means of persuasion of all — a telling illustration of “the extent to which the culture has been weaponized against us.”

14 Paraphrased from the Tech Thread....

As I said, I don't care that Santos lied, only that he votes in the correct manner, we are so far beyond, This is not who we are, of The GOP of the past, that anyone who gets their panties in a bunch is more than likely a fake Con like David French or Bill Kristol

Again, we are so far beyond these pedantic and decadent considerations of a candidates backstory and biography that anyone who gets their panties in a bunch over them is not to be considered.

The Junta have installed a vicious, serial lying Meat Puppet as President, a literal cockholster as Vice President, a queer who couldn't fill the potholes or get the buses to run on time of a tiny city in Indiana as transportation Secretary, not to mention a mental defective and sexual deviant who literally condemned the elderly to death as Health Secretary.

And I'm supposed to get all bothered because George Santos told some tall tales about his background?

F**k That Noise.

27 That is how popular culture works today, surreptitiously infiltrating the popular mind with the usages, ideals, rituals, and canons dear to the progressivist class. The violation of the norm, whether traditional or even statistical, the presenting a fiction as a fact, is the modus operandi of the budding totalitarian. Such is the scheme that the “hidden persuaders” of the current age have adopted.

Well, that article is saying what I've been saying for a few years now. Only a dummy wouldn't notice it. It's that blatant. The upshot is that millions of people are ignoring not only the ads, but the shows that propagandize the same messages as well. I happen to think a large % of the population has tuned out modern entertainment and the ads themselves garner way less eyeballs than intended.

Ever since he terrorised the streets of Whitechapel in the autumn of 1888, the mysterious spectre of Jack the Ripper has gripped the public imagination.

Yet for all the intrigue and speculation which has long swirled around Britain’s most notorious serial killer, little has ever been disclosed about his actual appearance.

Now, police researchers have rediscovered a walking cane they believe bears the only known facial composite of the man who murdered and mutilated five women 133 years ago.||

Categorical difference, really unfair to compare. By the way, three unarmed protestors were killed on J6 and hundreds arrested and are still languishing in cells (if being abused, denied decent food and medical care akin to a third world country's prisons can be called "languishing") 1972 had nothing like this.

81 I am once again reminded that is is an extremely good thing Sefton has absolutely zero influence over US foreign policy.

Ending worldwide US meddling must be a goal. It cannot be slapped in unilaterally with no preparation; that creates power vacuums all over the place that will be filled with people we'll be extremely unhappy about 20-40 years later. See Afghanistan, 1990, only worse, because China and Russia are not going to just stop at their coastlines if nothing is forcing them to. Ukraine is a golden opportunity to shatter Russia permanently for pennies on the dollar, ending a tyrannical expansionism that has beeen aggressing Europe for five centuries straight, creating exactly the kind of military counterweight and local alliances that are needed to fill the vacuum, in short doing everything necessary and possible to successfully end US involvement and create a situation where US involvement will be no longer necessary or desired by anybody, the one foreign policy development that is most positive for America since the fall of the Berlin Wall and maybe even bigger than that - and this
[REDACTED] Sefton is whining about it!

112 Good morning everyone. Thank you J.J.

Today is the Feast of The Holy Family

Jesus and his mother, the Blessed Virgin Mary, and his earthly guardian, protector, and foster-father, St. Joseph, make up the Holy Family. God was made incarnate into the embrace of the human family, and the majority of Jesus’ earthly life was spent in the quiet happiness of domestic life with his mother and father. This sacred time, known as the “hidden life” of Jesus, is one of which we know little from Sacred Scripture. The feast of the Holy Family is celebrated on the Sunday within the octave of Christmas. If Christmas falls on a Sunday, the feast of the Holy Family is celebrated on December 30th.

The last time Germany treated civilians in this manner, there were trials in Nurenburg.

Neither does her convenient switch to "independent" this year. She saw no path to relevance remaining in the Democrat Party, so decided to become an anti-Democrat talking head and her "star" has risen. In one year, she has gone from a nobody to filling in for Tucker Carlson. As some assumed 'beacon of conservatism'. Right.

What, you think she has "principles" because she shit talked Hillary and occasionally says things that contain actual truth instead of the constant barrage of nonstop lies we are fed a steady diet of?

Tulsi is them. And like then the only principles she has are advancing herself and subjugating you if required. Politicians didn't become politicians by accident. And as sick and demented as the R's are, the occasional non-rotten egg will *never* come dressed with a D next to their name. Ever.

OMG, that story is a TOTAL piece of crap!

Would you like me - someone who has actually researched the Ripper crimes - to tell you what that walking stick is? It's a fucking souvenir from 1888!

The face is that of the 'mad monk of Mitre Square.' After the death of fourth canonical victim Catherine Eddowes, a cheap pamphlet called The Curse on Mitre Square came out, detailing the 'cursed history' of Eddowes' murder site. Supposedly, there was a church at the site, forbidden to women. A monk discovered a woman hiding in the building and, in a rage, stomped her to death, only to find out that she was his sister.

The stick's face is NOT that of the Ripper! It's a fucking souvenir from 1888!

This is the problem with conservatives in general. They "swoon" over politicians, instead of treating them as they should be treated: as employees. Politicians are not celebrities and they are not heroes or anything else. They are paid to do a job and represent us, that's it. They are public servants. When they do the job, they should be supported, not praised or worshipped or "loved". When they do not do their job, they should be criticized and held accountable, not smeared or hated.

Yet conservatives treat politics as some sort of game, with sides and celebrities and heroes. It's ridiculous and embarrassing. And probably the biggest weakness that Deep State grifters have taken advantage of for decades.

186 While Vladimir Putin remains the convenient scapegoat, others have pointed to Europe’s overdependence on ‘green energy’ and its shutting down of traditional coal-fired and nuclear plants as one of the primary reasons for increasing the risk of blackouts.

The EU has levied "windfall profits taxes" on energy companies operating in Europe. ExxonMobile is suing over the tax since they predict that it is counter productive and will discourage any additional investment in Europe for petroleum refineries and energy.

the tax measure will "ensure that the whole energy sector pays its fair share in these difficult times,"

There we go with the "fair share" rhetoric. Zero politicians ever get their "fair share" of consequences for the massive economic and social damage they irresponsibly wreak on the population.

220 re Trump's tax returns. I really don't believe it's Constitutional to single out Trump for tax return exposure. It's a clever dodge on the prohibition of a Bill of Attainder directed at the executive branch by the legislative branch. So the separation of powers is destroyed.

But hopefully the Republicans will get after Brandon and Hunter's returns so we can see the payments Hunter made to his father. Oh wait. They won't be declared. So what then? Well they're just going to have to let the two of them go.

Aw shucks.

In my area of SE Michigan, I order Kroger pick-up and usually get the Kroger brand skim milk every week. Last month or so, if I try to order on certain days, the website says the Kroger milk is out of stock. I have found that Sunday is usually a good day where it's always in stock. Or I put Guernsey Farms milk as my backup option and that's usually always in stock.

I had the guy who loaded my Jeep a few weeks back comment "not sure how you managed to get milk, we've been out for a while". That was a Sunday. The previous week I had ordered on either Friday or Saturday and Kroger milk was out of stock. I speculated that they have a delivery schedule that makes sure they have milk in stock for their likely biggest shopping day of week, Sundays.

Because we're ok with electing liars to represent us so long as they vote for conservative principles, which I always assumed did not include lying.

298 JJ’s disappointment with Tulsi Gabbard is mock worthy. Dude, buy a clue. She is acting as if she is “GOP-adjacent”; if your definition of the GOP is Mitch McConnell and Kevin McCarthy.

Here’s a clue, JJ. Just because she and Tucker have a mutual admiration thing going on does not make her what you think she is.

Here’s my prediction for 2023-2024 — CBD, JJ (and even the leading DeSanctimonious bott-licker, Ace) will find more than one occasion to express their disappointment with DeSanctimonious in this here blog.

299 So we're supposed to trust Santos to vote to stop the progressive agenda? Like all the other GOPe who voted to pass that obscene budget? Wait, did Santos promise to toe the line to stop the liberal agenda? He did? Ok, well now I trust him. What could Tulsi Gabbard be thinking? Why would she expose a liar? Because what Republicans need to do is elect more liars. C'mon JJ, I expect more from you. Talk about being lowered in one's estimation.
