finished the semi-decade watching of Die Hard, the new ... uh 30 year blu ray and 4K streaming version (tubi?) was glorious.

the movie still holds up, it's so clever and funny in many little moments.

the person who I watched it with says it's too violent to be a Christmas movie, there's no arc or redemption. Which is fine, I prefer Lethal Weapon as a Christmas movie.

I had to go diving for real Christmas music. I'm sick of fuckign candy canes. I want soulful wailing about Jesus being born. Celine Deon's O holy Night was good.

That's a "Fallow Deer". Palmated antlers, vs. the more usual spiked antlers of whitetail, blacktail or mule deer. About the same size though, certainly, not an Elk sized critter.

Tasty as hell. Bonus, the antlers tend to be hard-bone all the way through. Some deer species have "pithy" bone at the core of the antler, rendering it useless for knife-handles or such.

Both Fallow Deer and Axis Deer are dominant over our native species, and are ranch by ranch, county by county, slowly taking over the Texas Hill Country deer range. Good news though? Non-native species. Bag limits don't apply!

I have an older home, 1940s construction back when closets were small. We're real short on room. I manage to use one side of a small closet but have to trek winter/summer clothes up and down from the attic because there wouldn't be enough room for all of it.

My wife uses the other side, three other closets and two chest of drawers, and has additional dresses just hanging on doors. I once said something about using one of the closets in the house to put our board games and hobby stuff. If you want to see some really oddball examples of such, go to Deep South Texas. City of Hebbronville, County Seat of Jim Hogg County, would be a good example.

The ranches there turn out some of the largest, highest scoring Boone & Crockett racks ever scored. And the bucks wearing them seldom go over 200 lbs, on average. It's damn near comical, an Elk sized rack on a 200 lb. whitetail. Deer season at the County Airport? They have to quit accepting flights, as every square foot of hanger, apron and ramp has some G-5, Lear or King Air parked thereon. Those folks are paying upwards of $12,000 per hunterfor their chance at the B&C record book.

All due respect to your friend in N Tonawanda. I've lived here since 1980, and have gone through just about every imaginable type of winter event. This storm was no joke...

They're a bit better equipped to handle what took place than Buffalo proper. That, and they don't have the total mileage of roads to plow, and their streets are wider than the Buffalo city streets, making it easier to get equipment through them.
