12 I'm guessing apple's "end to end encryption" means that only you,, your contract, and everyone at apple can read it. Then apple will still pass all your info to the feds if you say, happen to be within 500 feet of a few people strolling through a public building (i know that was Google, but i wouldn't put it past apple to do the same, as Tim Cook gets wet for dictators)

In other dictators news, Time magazine made Zelensky man of the year, which makes sense, as they have a history of giving that award to people who lob missiles in to Poland.

A .50 or even $1.25 roll of paper is not so bad. But big black Wolf, the predecessor to these two, once ruined a roll of the blue shop towels which cost $2.25 back when I earned only about 1/2 what I do now.

Chekov the late Codger Cat ruined a roll of toilet paper when he first came here. He lost interest in that pursuit after that, thank goodness.

What this story doesn't say is he also shot him in the balls. For extra credit, three of his teammates showed up minutes later and scooped up his gun and took off with it so the cops couldn't get their hands on it. In other news, his friends left him there wounded in the parking lot. Hours later, the coaches stonewalled the cops and then high tailed it out of town. New Mexico, it's a 2.5 world country down here.

Manual testing is so excellent at catching regressions just before you ship a product. One of the better ones I ran into at Microsoft is some goofball was testing his installer code and he had hard coated local paths in the installer code unique to his machine. Of course he signed off on it and the code. Of course it pressed on to CDs. Then and only then was it discovered it would't install. Hilarity ensued.

65 Just wanted to recommend as a lovely upbeat, Christmas movie- The Minister"s Wife with Denzel Washington and Whitney Housten. It came out in the 89's but I hadn't seen it and Whitney sings beautifully . A nice Christmas movie and update of the also fine film "The Bishop's Wife" which had Cary Grant, David Niven and Loretta Young.

73 Our company email hosting service, Rackspace, was ransomwared last Friday and we, like all their other customers, have been forced to migrate to a different service. Rackspace has handled this in the worst way imaginable, with their incredibly defensive status updates obviously written by lawyers.

All I know is that we can't get at any emails trapped in their system. We don't even know what those are. Moreover, while Rackspace told us they put in place an auto bounceback to senders we know that is a lie, because we tested it numerous times and it never happened.

Totally screwed. Hey, maybe that should be their new business slogan, "When you want to be totally screwed, use Rackspace!"

Where I live I am just far enough distant from the TV towers that getting reception is a hot mess. I put up with it for 3 years until I finally gave up and signed up for YouTube TV because it has local channels. I quickly re-discovered why I didn't have cable for the previous years.

The NMSU Basket Ball guy got off like 11 rounds, blowing the balls off the UNM guy before killing him. It is a miracle nobody in the dorms right next the big shoot out got killed.

And how about the 3 Stooges (aka 3 more NMSU Basketball guys) that showed up within minutes to retrieve the firearm so the cops couldn't get their mitts on it. And for extra credit they left NMSU BB shooter guy laying in the parking lot with a bullet hole in his leg.

But the one that is really blowing up is the coaches impeded the cops by refusing to let the cops talk to the three stooges, made themselves unavailable to the cops, and then got the team on the bus out of ABQ ASAP. It was then and only then that another coach back in ABQ showed up with that gun and gave it to the cops.

Of course NMSU stonewalled this for a couple weeks until the police report came out. They have since hired an investigator to look at the public documents and interview people so the record can be set straight. They don't need an investigator, the need an exorcist.
