Daily Tech News 27 November 2022

Top Story

  • What really went on at FTX. (New York Post)

Drugs and vegetarian food, and setting fire to other people's money.

Decentralised finance is showbusiness for ugly, incompetent, dishonest meth addicts.

  • Elon Musk hasn't done anything new to outrage the usual suspects. They're still outraged, of course, but it's not new.

Tech News

  • There are only two hard problems in computer science:

    0. Cache invalidation
    1. Naming things
    2. Asynchronous callbacks
    3. Off-by-one errors
    4. Scope creep
    5. Bounds checking

I had a story to go along with this but the story was boring.

  • Lenovo has accidentally confirmed the new, cheaper, lower power Ryzen 7900 and 7700 non-X parts. (WCCFTech)

We don't know if these will be available as retail parts - the 5900 wasn't, for example - or if they do, whether will come bundled with CPU coolers.

AMD is also preparing a lower cost motherboards based on the A620 chips set.

Current Ryzen 7000 motherboards are quite expensive, even at the low end. The current cheapest Socket AM5 motherboards cost twice as much as the cheapest Socket AM4 boards. They are better, yes, but not twice as better.

Someonr on Gutfeld, i think, commented that SBF couldn't be a vegan since he has massive knockers, but most vegans i know/met are fatties, as they eat over processed crap, plus soy makes men's estrogen levels skyrocket.

17 Morning, Horde. I have dropped anchor in Idaho Falls for the night, en route to Arizona. No trouble whatsoever crossing the border. Roads were good until I got to Monida Pass, and fog and sleet set in. Not real bad, but had to slow down for poor visibility. I am going to hit the sack real soon. This been a long day.

21 Musky Phone could be cool, but I'm guessing it'll have as much, if not more, malware than even the others. I like Musk's new fight for Twitter freedom, but he's got to do a lot more to make me actually trust his motives.

Also good choice in whose tweet to link to, i prefer to get all my Elon news from hot chicks (though Twitter avatars tend to be misleading, usually the picture is 30 years old, I'll have to do some investigative journalism on this!)

22 What's remarkable is how totalitarian the left is, they are compelled to control everything 100%.

Recall they controlled NBC/CBS/CNN etc etc and one guy started broadcasting on AM radio and they completely lost their shit about it. I'm pretty sure they had congressional hearings about it, and tried to pin anything and everything on a "climate of hate" or or other quackery on Rush Limbaugh

Thank you, Skip. Completely uneventful so far. The fog and sleet were brief, and I just had to slow down from 75 to 55. No sweat. I did see something strange. Climbing the hill out of Shelby, MT, I saw some bright light shoot across the road, inches off the pavement. Like a low=flying bird with a reflector on it. No crossroads there. If it was a reflector on an animal's collar, it did not bob up and down. Crossed the highway in about one second.

Then they decided to 'compete' with Rush - Air America Radio. Which was going to bring a new left wing chapter to radio. The only chapter it was involved in was Chapter 11 within two years.

"All wars are civil wars, because all men are brothers." Francois Fenelon (1651–1715)

I don't know. Some men need to be dope-slapped like younger brothers doing something stupid. Just my take on things. A great sentiment, but there are implementation issues.

Posted by: NaCly Dog (u82oZ) at November 27, 2022 05:43 AM (u82oZ)

55 Francis Fenelon was a great writer. There is much more to his writings than one phrase . I assume the sense is that we are created by Giod but as I don't know the context I can't comment on it further. Since he was a spiritual director to lots of people and also dealt with them in the confessional he was well aware of sin. I'm guessing Mr B-F and his girlfriend had made themselves into their own gods.

57 Morning, all! Cooler if still damp this morning; I may go out for a brisk walk.

The charging cord of my MacBook Air is not working again -- this, a brand-new cord. It's possible one of the cats may have damaged it, though it looks fine. I'm currently on the disliked Win 10 laptop, and have run across a glitch on the AoS site. In Brave, but not in Firefox, a wide banner with ads that will not close opens near the bottom of the screen. I've got all the Brave shields up that I can, and yet it persists. Never saw it on the Mac. I've tried closing and restarting Brave, and restarting the Mac itself. Nothing. Other sites have no such banner. Any ideas?

61 Does anyone here have a Fox Nation account? I'm canceling my satellite service, and the only thing I watch on FoxNews is Gutfeld. It says you can watch all episodes on FoxNation, but it doesn't say if it's through the monthly membership or where you need to sign in with your cable/satellite info. It's only like $2 a month for a year now, so figured it's worth it for Gutfeld and done movies.

63 Just a small reminder:

Elon Musk was having second thoughts about buying Twitter. Remember the argument about bots, and whether they were greater than the 5% Twitter claimed? Trying to jockey the price down or break the deal.

Then, suddenly, it was pushed through, as originally designed. Was there going to be legal ramifications for saying he was going to buy things, then not? Possibly jail time, claiming he was goosing stock prices?

I'd like to see a Venn diagram of those complaining about non-censorship and a lack of muzzling free people, and then the circle of those egging things on when Musk was having second thoughts.
