Liberal RINO Corporate Gimp Asa Hutchinson Threatens Delusionary Vanity Run for President;
Reached for Comment, "Beto" O'Rourke Says, "That Limpdick? LOL Get F***ed"
Plus: Shut the Fuck Up, National Review

"What, was there no Walmart board seat available?"

Jeff Zeleny
@jeffzeleny

On @CNNThisMorning, Arkansas Gov. @AsaHutchinson says he'll decide on a 2024 run by January. He said a big field won't be like 2016, telling @kaitlancollins: "People understand who Donald Trump is today... He's a known quantity now. We know the chaos that comes with him."

Note he made this announcement on Don LeMon's Morning Show -- you know, Where Conservatives Go to Wake Up.

Bonchie at RedState reacts to this non-event which has not shaken up DC:

Hopefully, Hutchinson's decision is that he's going to be taking that board seat with Wal-Mart he's been seeking over the last few years. Unfortunately, I doubt that's going to be the direction he goes. Vanity campaigns have become all the rage, and there's a lot of money to be made making a pointless presidential run that never garners over two percent in the polls.

Still, if the point here is to get rid of Trump, I couldn't think of a worse strategy. The former president relies on having foils to galvanize his base of support. That's why Ron DeSantis choosing not to engage him this early has been smart. The moment someone like Hutchinson jumps in the race (or Larry Hogan, Tim Scott, etc.), Trump immediately has his enemy to play off of.

And while there are growing numbers of Republicans who want to go a different direction in 2024 for practical reasons (i.e. they want to win), some can be won back over if the alternative is a guy who couldn't even stand up against the transgender lobby in Arkansas. In fact, a Hutchinson run is so asinine that Trump should be made to count it as an in-kind contribution.

This goes for all the NeverTrumpers who have, with their typical obsessiveness, gone into Swarm Mode on Trump. The New York Post ran a front-page attack on Trump the day after the election. Was it written by Victor Davis Hanson, a long-time Trump supporter who was cooling on Trump, whose words might have some actual sway with Trump voters?

No, of course not. It was written by liberal neocon grifter and movie reviewing pussy and longtime NeverTrumper Jon Podhoretz, who has been writing the same "essay" for the past seven fucking years.

There was, in fact, a coordinated pressure campaign mounted by all the Murdoch properties which started the day after the election. The Wall Street Journal, the New York Post, and Fox News all began pushing the "Dump Trump" line.

Conservative, Inc. grifter media like Commentary, the Washington Examiner, and National Review joined in because, well, they're naturally followers and they've always been hardcore anti-Trump anyway. They're all pretty cowardly and don't really like being the first to throw a punch. But if someone's being mobbed up on, they're run over to throw a sneak kick into the ribs.

That doesn't mean that people who actually supported Trump weren't also de-boarding the Trump Train. They -- we -- were. I was tired of all the losing, and tired of Everything Always Being All About Trump. And I was really bothered by everything always being at the very lowest gutter level ("I know things about Ron DeSantis that his wife doesn't know").

But absolutely, NeverTrump executed a coordinated pressure campaign to pressure everyone into dumping Trump.

And when they started doing this-- I felt my support for Trump increasing.

And I don't like Trump at this point!

But I hate them more. And when I see these people -- the people I supported Trump to vanquish -- start taking their victory laps and dancing on Trump's political grave, I start thinking, "Maybe we have to nominate Trump again because apparently you assholes didn't get the lesson after the first two black eyes."

But they can't shut the fuck up. They think they're smart -- in fact, they're among the dullest, middest wits in the world. They have been supported by a #Rigged system of favor-banking and patronage, and even so, have managed to claw their way up right to just below the middle.

They think they're "serious," and attack Trump for being on Twitter constantly and "owning the libs." And yet they themselves never get the fuck off Twitter and are constantly on that platform Owning the Cons.

tomnicholsattacksworkingclass.jpg

"Empty lives," the guy who is literally on twitter at all hours of the day and night, spitting hatred and engaging in absurd braggartry, accuses others of having.

By the way: If you self-identify as a "conservative," but you think Owning the Cons is jolly good sport while Owning the Libs is just bad manners, I've got news for you.

Although I think DeSantis is a better candidate than Trump, I'm not pushing it. This isn't just because I don't want to pick a fight, although I also don't want to pick a fight.

It's also because I know that strong-willed people do not yield to pressure.

And right now, the NeverTrumpers and Corporate Media -- including the Conservative, Inc. Corporate Media -- are engaging in a flood-the-zone pressure campaign to pressure people to abandon Trump.

These people are fucking stupid.

If Trump voters were susceptible to that kind of pressure tactic, that kind of hardcore social terrorism, they wouldn't be Trump voters in the first place.

They would have been pressured to stop supporting him in March of 2015, when the whole world screamed "you can't support this racist" at them.

Or when the "pussy tape" was leaked, and the whole world screamed "you can't support this rapist" at them.

Or when Hillary Clinton's Russiagate Op was launched in 2017, when the whole world screamed "you can't support this Russian agent" at them.

Etc., etc., etc.

Oh, but they're going to bend to This Year's Model of the "You Can't Support This _____" pressure campaign, eh?

Hey Mid-Wit NeverTrumpers who think you're smart but don't know jack-shit -- let me introduce you to a very basic psychological concept you've obviously never heard of.

Reactance (psychology)

Reactance is an unpleasant motivational reaction to offers, persons, rules, or regulations that threaten or eliminate specific behavioral freedoms.< Reactance occurs when an individual feels that an agent is attempting to limit one's choice of response and/or range of alternatives.

Wait, you're saying that people react with hostility when they start to feel that other people are ganging up on them to limit their freedom and force them to do things they don't want to do?

Reactance can occur when someone is heavily pressured into accepting a certain view or attitude.

Heavily pressured?

You mean like the artless chumps of NeverTrump and Conservative, Inc. keep attempting with their "Against Trump" issues again and again and again and again, thinking, "This time it's got to work"?

Reactance can encourage an individual to adopt or strengthen a view or attitude which is indeed contrary to that which was intended -- which is to say, to a response of noncompliance -- and can also increase resistance to persuasion.

Wait wait wait wait wait -- you're blowing my fucking mind here, Wikipedia. Are you telling me that when you heavily pressure people to conform to a position, they sometimes not only refuse to conform, but in fact harden in their adherence to the exact opposite position?

Whew! Mind-blowing stuff! Like National Review, I've literally never heard of this or observed this in any living earth human beings!

Nanoo-nanoo!

...

Some individuals are naturally high in reactance, a personality characteristic called trait reactance.

Whoa. Whoa. Whoa.

Fuckin' whoa.

Are you now telling me that certain individuals might be especially high in opposition to pressure to conform, and react especially hostilely to such pressure, and harden especially in their prior beliefs when gangs of righteous Mid-Wit cunts attempt to pressure, shame, and bully them into changing their beliefs to conform with the Mid-Wit Cunts' preferred beliefs?

Whoa... if that's true -- hear me out -- if that's true, could it possibly be that very contrarian "leave me the fuck alone" conservatives are possessed of this especially high level of "trait reactance" which makes them particularly resistant to mass pressurization attempts by the media, whether of the leftwing or Conservative, Inc. cuckwing variety?

No way.

No.

Fucking.

Way.

Bonchie makes this point, sort of, with respect to Larry Hogan and Asa Hutchinson insisting on getting into the race:

I think Hutchinson knows that [he can only help Trump]. I also think Larry Hogan knows that. That they are signaling a willingness to jump into the fray anyway (and I think both will), having no base of support, shows how maniacal their egos are. They;d rather see Republicans lose the general election in 2024 than exit the spotlight and let real conservatives figure things out.

Because to be clear, there is no world where rabid Never Trumpers who abandoned their own voters have a say in the future of the Republican party at this point, and if they try to exert one, they will only push people back toward Donald Trump.

So that's why I'm not doing any kind of sell. I know you guys are not pushable. You can change your minds, but not when someone is attempting to force a change.

I'll bring up facts and arguments in a respectful way. No shouting. No pressure. Either you agree or your don't.

I know that pressure won't work, for the simple reason that the entire world -- literally, the entire world, the media of all other countries were screaming too -- has tried pressure for seven years and it hasn't worked.

I understand that because I have a lesser intellect that only grasps simple, practical truths.

I'm not a Thought Leader like the brain trust at Nation Review. I am unencumbered by the burden of genius that hunches their weary backs.

Alas, their intellects, which tend to operate in the rarefied heights of n-dimensional abstractions, sometimes fail to comprehend the Mindthoughts and Soulpatterns of the commoners and lower-order human beings they swan above like distrait angels.

So they have embarked upon another "Against Trump" campaign to Pressurize the Incompressible:

nationalreviewgeniuscorps.jpg

Because that worked out so well last time.

But they're the smart, sophisticated, "serious" thinkers. The smart, sophisticated, "serious" thinkers who are literally incapable of ever learning a god-damned thing and stupidly, oafishly proud of that.

Why does National Review think that leftward social pressure will work?

Why does Commentary think leftward social pressure will work? Why does the Washington Examiner think leftward social pressure will work?

For the most elemental of all reasons:

Because leftward social pressure always works on them.

Whenever their Very Good Friends on the Left start applying coordinated social pressure to them, they almost immediately bend the knee and conform to the left's demands.

So of course these narcissists and solipsists will imagine that everyone must be amenable to the same coordinated leftwing, womanly eighth-grade girl social-conformity pressure tactics.

It doesn't matter how many times the Actual Conservatives have shown the pussy fakers that they're entirely unlike them, and do not care about what the left thinks about them, or, for that matter, what the Very Good Friends of the left -- Conservative, Inc. -- thinks of them.

They continue not learning, not thinking, not updating their knowledge base, not imaging that anyone could be different, and continue insisting that this time, the same tactics that have endlessly failed will work.

They've got to work.

Just like they did in Iraq and Afghanistan.

These people just can't stop putting themselves front and center. They think they're the heroes in every story.

You're not the heroes, assholes. At worst, you're the villains. At best, you're the NPCs.

Now be good little NPCs and do what NPCs do -- fade into the background. For once.

Oh, This Just Occurred to Me: I get angry sometimes when Trump fans get super-aggressive about attempting to bully me into conforming with their pro-Trump position.

Guess what? That shit doesn't work on me either, or any of the people here who have drifted away from Trump. We're high in trait reactance too so stop attempting to pressure us to knuckle under. Immediately. Argue, sure, but pressure? Get the fuck out of here with that shit. I don't want to be your prison bitch the same way you don't want to be mine, so don't try to make me one.

8 I think at some point maybe they should stop reacting to their imaginations about what they think trump is.

And also, maybe face reality that with open ballot drop boxes with zero ballot review, we could run joe biden against biden and he'd still lose. How else can a guy with 40% approval win his midterms?

Or, you know, maybe it's just a coincidence that trump won and the GOP won where there were secure elections? And maybe, gee...the left targetted a half dozen states during Covid with the intention of keeping the Senate and put these policies into place.

12 I've said it before, but DeSantis's greatest apparent weakness right now are some of the people pushing him. So long as they believe he can be used as the Anti-Trump silver bullet, they'll be pushing him. Not the sort of allies any (sensible) R candidate wants.

But I hate them more.
________
That was me in 2016. I was for Walker, then Cruz. Prime material for Never Trump. But NRO was such a bunch of obnoxious phuckers they talked me out of it. There was one guy named Marc Antonio Wright who really pissed me off. He threatened that vengeance would fall on all conservatives who switched to Trump. Funny how that worked out.

This is why you convinced me to vote for Trump in 2016. You made sense. Ted Cruz wasn't/isn't electable nationally. Trump was a long shot, but everyone else sucked a$$. There are good arguments against Trump and good arguments for him. It makes the most sense to see how things develop and go from there. There isn't going to be any sure thing candidate no matter what. And there is some value to running somebody who will at least call them out on their bullshit directly without worrying about "norms" that have been coopted to makes us servants to them.

142 12 I've said it before, but DeSantis's greatest apparent weakness right now are some of the people pushing him. So long as they believe he can be used as the Anti-Trump silver bullet, they'll be pushing him. Not the sort of allies any (sensible) R candidate wants.

Posted by: Red Turban Someguy - The Republic is already dead! at November 17, 2022 12:04 PM (eYoxG)

He needs to stay in Florida considering he just ran and won a second term for governor. He's also not pushing hard on any of the things Trump ran on and won (no sending a busload of illegals to Martha's Vineyard doesn't count. If he really believed in limiting immigration he'd be pushing state legislation to ass rape corps who hire these people. Notice he's not doing that).

Ultimately Ace is correct that Trump needs to be supported again because we must keep pushing forward instead of retreating back to the culture war bullshit the elites use as a mask to cover their real agenda.

143 Ace, there's no reason to dislike Trump at this point.

- That is, if you ever truly liked him in the first place.

There is only one serious alternative to Trump and that would be Desantis. Eventually, Desantis may declare. But if he's smart, that will only be to get his toes wet.

It's obvious that Desantis does not have the star power.
It's obvious that Desantis does not have the thick skin.
It's not yet clear whether Desantis will clearly distance himself from the establishment the way that Trump has.
The debates will make that clear. Until then, why should we dump Trump??
Oh, I know! Because the media and the GOPe insist we must! Yeah, that's the ticket. NOT.

========

I think the only way Ron runs is if Trump looks vulnerable from anyone but DeSantis. That may sound off, but with DeSantis having just started his second (and last) term as governor, Trump is the only serious contender declared right now.

DeSantis could, potentially, announce a run today, but it's the sort of look that most politicians like to avoid. What becomes the cutoff point? Six months? A year? In a year, Iowa is weeks from happening. By that point, the idea of a DeSantis candidacy isn't taken seriously by many people because he's not actually in the race.

Rick Perry essentially tried to do it in 2012, but he fumbled it, and he wasn't up against someone like Trump.

You may as well envision them debating Karl Marx, too, because that's just as realistic. I can't imaging DeSantis running if Trump is in. You lose to Trump in the primaries, or you win, and a huge chunk of OnlyTrumpers don't turn out, and (as the mid-terms have shown), even in a election environment generally favorable to the Republicans, you're at a major disadvantage to start with, so you lose to Biden's corpse.

I've been calling that for a couple of years.

Trump seems to not have gobbled up all of the rightist donors right now, but he's going to get enough commitments so that any MAGA friendly candidate not named Ron DeSantis won't get the kind of money or attention to effectively be a pro-MAGA candidate in a race against King MAGA himself.

That leaves the GOPe desperately bringing in Trump killer after Trump killer. By June, they'll throw $50 million at Liz Cheney in one weekend just to see if it works.

I didn't "like" Trump when i voted for him in 2016. I had hope that I would like him if he tried to carry through on some of his promises. I started to warm to him when he beat on the press like the rented mules they are. He shook the whole thing up hard once he got in there. He stepped on a lot of mines and they throw everything at him but assassination. He did some fantastic stuff on the economy. He tried to actually build the wall. There was more peace and security and stability to foreign policy. It was a pretty fantastic presidency then they started with the impeachment bullshit which failed a couple times, and then desperately weaponized Fauci. That's how afraid they were of him. There's a lot that can happen but I remember what he did, tried to do, and how they fcuked with him. The whole damn thing was epic. As in Hero's journey. No shit. I get that there is Trump Fatigue. But if you are honest with yourselves, most of that is generated by the media, and only about 10% is Trump own fault. But some of it is indeed his own fault.

Reactance is an unpleasant motivational reaction to offers, persons, rules, or regulations that threaten or eliminate specific behavioral freedoms.

I so have this.

Also: oppositional defiance disorder. You order me to do something, my first guy reaction is eff you, eff off. I've learned to control this in work and family life so I can survive in society. but in politics? No.

Those ordering me for years how to vote, on social media and the press? Made me vote for Trump harder. Because eff them.

I don't know who I support yet for 2024, but I'm not dumping either Desantis or trump yet. Because the media is ordering me to choose sides and dump trump, and will intimately tell me to dump Desantis. And eff the media.

DeSantis is smart enough to see who is against Trump, and the quality of any 'support' that he would get from GOPe. He can follow the exploits of cokebear better than we.

I do think that Trump brings on a lot more of his trouble than we admit. His phone call to Ukraine was not "perfect." He has said -- correct me if I'm wrong -- that he wants a re-vote of 2020 or to just be installed as president. obviously there is no mechanism for that. that is absurd. I do not doubt that he was cheated, both practically and cosmically, but his *asks* have to be realistic, or people tune the fuck out. Realistic asks are about specific reforms, not just about complaining about what happened in 2020 and then suggesting that maybe we should just sort of put him in the White House using an unknown legal mechanism to do so.

If the cleaning up of elections isn't going to happen in the next two years, then there's still no reason to cede the party to NT, giving them time to retrench and regain control of more of the party apparatuses that they've lost for a time.

It's a great time to push even harder, winning the fights we can.

366 I think the plan of the GOPe and NT and liberals (but I repeat myself) is clear: they want Trump gone (duh) because they can't control him and he's an existential threat to the GOPe. They are pushing DeathSantis only so far as it helps them get rid of Trump. They aren't sure if they can control or capture DS. If they can't, then suddenly they will turn on him with at least the ferocity they did on Trump.

There can be no peace with these GOPe and NT pricks. No common ground. No co-existence. It's either them or us. THERE CAN BE ONLY ONE.

I think the mistake people make when evaluating Trump is to take everything he says literally. He's a promoter at heart, a New Yawk real estate developer. Everything he has done his entire life as been the best thing ever! That's just how he rolls.

Now you might not like his style and that's fair. I find it a bit irritating and over the top at times but I try to remember he's not always being literal, he's driving narratives. And it works.

I don't think he's thought he was going to overturn the election since Jan 6th but he also thought election integrity is the single biggest issue in American politics today and he is right. Look at where we are and now everyone is talking about it.

This is something we disagree on.

In 2016 Trump put up very typical R numbers, but had a better voter distribution as he lost with some ordinary R voters and brought on others.

In 2020 Trump put up very strong R numbers as most of those people who didn't vote for him in 2016 did in 2020, and he got lots of crossover as people realized he wasn't the Nazi etc. the media was calling him.

If he was unpopular 2020 would've been a slaughter for Rs.

Additionally he has next to no impact either way in mid-terms (similar to Obama).

Desantis may be, and I may vote for him, but I'mma have to see some primary showings in various other states that cement the notion that Desantis is someone who can turn out voters or that Trump no longer can. If Desantis can't, then he can't win either. If he can, he might be a viable alternative. I think he grows into a formidable successor, if he plays his cards right. I hope he does. I hope he doesn't take the bait and literally get hooked by the GOPe.

471 I don't want to live under Democrat rule one second longer than I have to, and will vote for Trump if he is the nominee. But there's the little matter of the Georgia runoff to get through first, and I'd like to see Trump be more of a team player on that. Say what you will about Mitch McConnell, but the old coot spent over $20 million supporting Herschel Walker (or, rather, attacking Warnock), and has committed another $16 million to the runoff. Trump raised over $100 million and spent less than half of it, so he has over $60 million available for get out the vote and/or attack ads. He's even still fundraising in GA based on the runoff. Getting back to 50/50 in the Senate is important, and remember that Walker was endorsed by Trump so he should be willing to help his own candidate. It will also give him another swing state victory to take credit for.

I was wrong, and I happily voted to re-elect Trump.

This time, I will vote for Trump if he is the nominee, but not to be the nominee. I am assuming DeSantis is running, but this is likely going to be my vote even if he doesn't.

Trump can only have 1 term, will be 78 in 2024, will face overwhelming obstruction if elected (last time was nothing in comparison), and would be a huge contribution-in-kind to the Democrat's get out the vote efforts. In my mind, he is sure to lose, even to Biden, because those that hate him, and that's probably at least half the country, cannot be reconciled to him.

The money is nice, and they'll happily suck dick for it, but it isn't the main motivator. If Peter Thiel were to walk into NR headquarters and say, "I'll subsidize your operation at 100%, pay off your mortgages and double your salaries, but you have to pivot this magazine into a populist, pro-Trump platform right now," he wouldn't walk out victorious.

Nobody.

The problem in 2024 is much bigger than Trump or non-Trump. He's a factor, and an important one - especially for that disaffected normals vote - but the GOP has to want to win for any of it to have any relevance at all.

I also don’t think winning in 2024 with DeSantis as the nominee is a foregone conclusion, based on the fact elections since COVID have been gamed to favor the last team with the ball, ie…Democrats with mail in ballot harvest dumps.

574 I'm just happy to see that National Review used commas instead of periods when trying to make a dramatic point.

575 That shit doesn't work on me either, or any of the people here who have drifted away from Trump. We're high in trait reactance too so stop attempting to pressure us to knuckle under. Immediately. Argue, sure, but pressure? Get the fuck out of here with that shit.

---

Very much THIS. I would vote for Trump, yes, but I also want to see what others may have to say. What kills me about Trump is he has to fight EVERYONE. Why not come out and say "I look forward to a lively and productive debate with all other possible candidates, including Ron DeSantis should he decide to run, to help shape the future of the Republican Party." No, he's gotta go straight scorched earth out of the gate. I love the fight in him, but I think he wades into this type of shit for no reason at all, and it drives me nuts. Focus on the shitbags who are getting us here- not someone who may be more popular than you at the moment. He wastes so much energy on just going scorched earth as opposed to staying on point with the real threats to US, not your stupid fucking campaign that we now have to sit through for 2 years.

576 Trump didn't fight for a complete border wall. At every turn he bowed to pressure from the Swamp he said he would eradicate. Then he poisoned the entire country with his "warp speed" vaccine.

If after this galling evil and dereliction you're still a Trump Supporter, congrats you're of the same mindset of people who vote in the Democrat cult.

577 Well said Ace. I did not vote for Trump in the primary in 2016, but happily voted for him in the general both times, because Fuck You. I will likely not vote for him in the primaries this year but I will happily vote for him in the general because Double Fuck You.

580 I think they are promoting DeSantis, hoping that Hogan/Romney/Cheney can win plurality victories.

Question is, who wins the winner take all Florida primary?

582 oh everyone here would vote for Trump in the general. but i'm pushing back against the claim that no one's getting sick of trump who wasn't already sick of trump.

583 All politicians are bought. The questions are - by who and how much, and do the purchaser's goals benefit the voter?

Meanwhile, McCarthy and McConnell keep on keepin' on.

584 I don't like Donald Trump, but that's not the fuckin' point. I voted for him twice now (I guess 3 times if you count the 2020 primary). I'd rather have DeSantis, who I see as having Trump's positives without his negatives. But, if he wins the 2024 primary, I'll vote for him in Nov '24 and sleep like a baby afterwards.

585 You're right. Instead we should fight about who was the best short stop of all time.

586 add to this that trump is in fact unpopular, and IS a drag on the ticket, and is just a huge lift to get elected. I just don't think we can elect him.

You said the same thing in 2015. Let the race play out if trump doesn't get the nomination he will get out and back the nominee. You labeling him as a drag and unelectable
Posted by: MikeN at November 17, 2022 12:56 PM (n3TWS)

Ninety seconds after someone not GOPe becoming more popular than Trump is the attack dogs trying to make them unpopular and a drag on the ticket.

Look at Lake, for example.

588 I don't think a Trump run in 2024 would be the best thing we could do.

But fuck Bitch McConnell and his crop of RINOs that are desperate for Trump to not run.

These fucks just intentionally sabotaged winnable races because they didin't want to let Trump win.

So fuck the RINOs, that shit goes both ways.

The days of Pierre Delecto and Songbird McCain are LONG over.

589 Larry Hogan is a complete tool. His wife has corrupted him. Involved in some unsavory shit that would not make it through grade school vetting.

He lowered tolls immediately after winning governor and then proceeded to carry the torch for every anti conservative cause. I will never forgive him for the bullshit he did during covid and the lecture he gave to 20 somethings out having a life prior to lockdowns.

He is a dick and as far as I can tell he doesn't have a book to sell

590 News flash to the" growing numbers of Republicans who want to go a different direction in 2024 for practical reasons". There will be no path to a win for whoever is the Republican nominee for president in 2024. Democrats used Election Steal 1.0 in 2020, perfected Election Steal 2.0 in the 2022 Midterm Election and have Election Steal Permanent 1000.0 ready to roll in the 2024 Presidential Election.
