Top Story

The third shoe has dropped at Twitter with more senior staff leaving the company. (New York Post)

Most notable is Yoel Roth, head of the Censorship and Intimidation department, and Chief Book Burner after the unceremonious departure of the toxic Vijaya Gadde. Elon Musk had given Roth his support, but evidently the two did not see eye to eye on the mission. Roth appeared to be a true believer in management by censorship, even if not quite as vapidly doctrinaire as his former boss.

Roth was directly involved in the 2020 censoring of the New York Post's Laptop from Hell story, so they are not sad to see him gone.

Despite his obvious bias and general ill-intent, he did have some good points:
In other tweets dating back to 2016 and 2017, Roth dubbed Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell a "personality-free bag of farts".
Not inaccurate.

Also out are Damien Kieran, the Chief Abusing Users' Personal Data for Fun and Profit Officer, and Lea Kissner, who filled the role of Chief Help Me I'm In Charge of Data Security at a Company Full of Communists Officer.

5 I think the originally mentioned goal of 75% headcount reductions is about right. 50% of the staff were actively harming the company, so they go first.

Another 25% were merely useless - either ineffective at their roles or performing tasks that weren't needed in the first place - so they'll disappear over the next few months.

At the same time I expect Twitter will start hiring competent engineers for new projects, with a new office in Texas or Florida. Musk plans to take on both Facebook and YouTube, and he'll need more than the 25% of Twitter staff that were competent, functioning adults to do that.

And IIRC that's what the police - and the news media - initially reported. Because that was what happened. Then they changed it at a follow-up news conference or, in the case of the news agencies, removed it because "it didn't meet their strict standards" or some other silliness.

The question now is why they changed the story, and why everyone - cops, media, and citizens - is perfectly okay with it. We know why the DOJ and FBI and the feds did. But why the locals?

"Dave in Fla" assures us that Kari Lake's team is watching all the remaining ballot boxes like a hawk, and that nothing can go wrong. I wish I could be confident that is true. Instead, what I'm hearing is that the Maricopa County Sheriff has secured the building and fenced it off, the fence covered with tarps. Kinda reminds me of the Michigan counting center workers covering over the windows of their workspace so observers couldn't watch the cheating.

I see people on here quoting vote totals that reflect 83% of the vote, as evidence. Really, people!?! It's the last 7% - that they've been withholding all this time - that will decide this.
