Murkowski 91,205
Chesbro (D) 20,265
Kelley 6,244
Assume Kelley voters put in Tshibaka as 2nd choice, because they also hate Murkowski, then Tshibaka goes to 100,382.
Then Tshibaka will hold a 9,177 lead on Murkowski. When the Chesbro votes are eliminated, you need 45% of those votes to not say Murkowski, and every vote that says Tshibaka reduces that percentage a tad.
So it is possible Murkoswki loses, but it all depends on how many Democrats listed her as a second choice.
Also there are 1,056 write-ins. Don't know if they get a 2nd choice or if they would even bother to put one in.

Yes, and there are money and scholarships for winning. It's not just about getting a trophy. The girls also spend a lot of money on prep and consultants and stuff like that. I dated Miss (redacted). She ended up as runner up or something in Miss New York, and then had a nice side hustle as a coach for girls still competing. The girls take this seriously because there is real financial and other upside to it. And some fat guy just stole it from them.

If you look at the demo that just won the last election and then look at his current support they don't match. In fact it gets to a point where it looks like he cannot win electorally. You can't go scorched earth on the most popular people in the party and expect that to end well. You build a coalition of people most of the voters support and move towards your common objective. I'm getting tired of Trump's new attacks on everyone he sees as a rival, but when it comes to this cycle I don't see many failures for him.
Oz was probably ther best chance in PA, he was a moderate Taliban who Trump pulled votes for. I think A) any other Republican loses worse, B) Early voting that protected Fetterman's mental inability is what won this, if they debated earlier or didn't have unlimited early voting I think Fetterman loses by a decent margin.
Other candidates were screwed by McConnel in ther Senate. The second he pulls funding he's cutting his own guy if at thr knees in the eyes of the moderates/ independents. Masters certainly could have used the money, but the look of losing leaderships support was a killer (also while not enough, the 40K plus for the libertarian who endorsed Masters would have helped if they were close enough for a recount)

I like them both. And Noem won by a bigger margin than Ron this year. In fact, 4 governors had bigger margins than Ron. And I like him too.
My guess is Trump thought he had a deal with Ron. He helped him get the governors job and expected his backing for a run in 2024 in return and to date Ron has not complied. Trump values loyalty over everything. I don't think he needed to come out with such a strong statement but it's not rocking my world. I'm old enough to remember when Bush supporters spread a rumor about McCain's daughter in South Carolina. Politics is a rough business.

Heh. I finally checked out a recent Marvel movie in the form of Dr. Strange and the Multiverse of Madness. Without Sam Raimi making things interesting visually, there'd be nothing to grasp onto. It was a mess, but Raimi worked his ass off to make it look fun, at least.
And these movies still make, like, $800 million without sweating. Ugh...I like my old, financial bombs, of violent revisionist westerns, I guess.

Oz lost PA because Trump voters didn't vote for him. Go look at the votes in SW PA, the T, and NE PA. The Trump working class didn't turn out.
There is a large group of working class voters, especially in the rust belt, that doesn't trust the GOP. Right now, they will vote for Trump, or they won't vote. Before 2016, they didn't vote.
So if you want their votes, you can either run Trump, or you need to find someone else that they trust. I get being tired of Trump, I'm tired of him too. I hate they way he attacks other Republicans who should be his allies, I've hated that crap since 2015.
But the reality is he brings in votes that the GOP can't get any other way, right now. So if we are going to get rid of Trump, there is a price to pay for that.

I never said DeSantis was GOPe. Although, there are concerns based on what one of his big donors said. That though is balanced against the good he has done in Florida. My point is that piling on of Trump looks bad. It feels more like a proxy to attack what the base wants. That's why there is pushback. There aren't reasoned articles out there going "Trump is past his prime to run in 2024. He did a lot of good. He opened the door. It is time for some younger blood to continue the fight." I don't particularly care and I don't think most voters do. It is the political class that cares deeply about these issues because they invest in it. GOP is worse about tone policing than the Dems but the GOP is really sloppy about it with their patented Conservative Media hitjob the day after the election. No one really seems to say much about that now. Who funded it?, who coordinated it?, how was the GOP party officials involved? No one seems at all curious about that.
There is an old courtroom common law saying--he who comes to court must have clean hands.
Conservative and Main St. Media don't. GOP officeholders by and large don't, and neither do party officials, etc. So they can take their opinion and blow it out their ass for all I care. So
I will wait and see in Dec. 2023 who to support and I am ignoring the rest of it until then.

I think when Trump went after Rubio (who was an AceHQ favorite not long before that) Cruz & Bush, he was more or less playing the character, & knew he was just doing it to insult & dismiss those he would beat. It was a way of getting attention, & honestly he had pretty funny lines.
His new attacks seem more like he's scared, as if someone is in his ear (Kushner or Roger Stone) telling him to start flailing wildly at everyone who could be a threat. I mean the Youngkin line is just dumb. He's going from the funny insult comic, to Michael Richards facing off with hecklers.
This seems desperate, & it's not going to do him any good in the primary, or general, because I'm not sure this time around a big enough group will hold their nose and vote for him. Maybe he'll pull all those Trump voters he got in 2016 who didn't vote Republican in 2012, but he'll lose just as much.
I'll still vote him over any Dem, but it's time he become the elder statesman of the party, pick young people who can take MAGA past 2030. (Also if he's indicted he's basically f'd the whole party if he starts kneecapping everyone)

I didn't think it was all that concerned with being woke or anything. The stuff about Dr. Strange playing second fiddle to America Chavez were overblown (America is literally tied up for most of the finale).
The script was just all over the place, didn't really use its multiverse concept very well, and didn't really have any kind of core to guide the action through the plot. Raimi alone, through sheer force of will, made it watchable. I love zombie Dr. Strange and Wanda's tear through the Illuminati.

I don't know thats true. I know some of the people who were already moving on from Trump have increased their volume but they don't speak for everyone.
I want to win in 2024 and I want to win with someone who I am confident will do virtually everything I want. Right now that person is Trump. If DeSantis or someone else, again, DeSantis is not the only other person besides Trump who could run, turns out to be a better option then so be it, I will support them.
DeSantis has done a great job. In Florida. I've seen no evidence his influence is anywhere near Trump's on a national basis and he sure didn't help himself by endorsing the most anti-Trump Republican not named Liz Cheney who ran this cycle.

The problem for Wakanda Forever is that they bought into their own hype, and think that everyone really did like Black Panther as much as they pretended to, so the sequel had to be huge when all those fans returned.
Except they weren't that enthusiastic, Black Panther was a 2 3/4 stars out of 5, and this movie doesn't even HAVE the Black Panther in it, just his kid sister in a costume 2 hours into the movie.
This is like having Jar Jar Binks be the main pull for the second prequel, then not even be there, and someone wears a Jar Jar onesie but the film is too long and nobody cares.

I first spotted him as a regular on the old daytime soap Search For Tomorrow in about '84-'85. That was 38 years ago (gulp!). So back then he was 28? Makes sense, as the majority of soap actors and actresses are youngish. Though SFT was a bit different: Not everybody on the show was perfect and glossy or has perfect white teeth, and two of the old regulars from the 1950s still showed up from time to time.
Conroy was impressive even then. When I saw his name linked with the Batman series, I knew it had to be the same guy.

I'm saying this as someone who voted Trump twice, and won't vote for anyone next time, but for reasons unrelated to "candidate quality," as the new euphemism goes. This is just an observation from someone with no skin in the game.
I know I like Trump, and so far, I think I like DeSantis. And ace is right about DeSantis keeping quiet in this case being the right play.
But what the hell else would you expect from Trump? His whole thing is always just going straight to the mattresses any time someone challenges him. I think ace is wrong about him being insane - this is who Trump's always been. I liked it in the past and still like it today.
That said, DeSantis seems good. Particularly because he belled the Disney rat. That was really, really cool. Humbling those freaks was a highlight of the last year.
I wish they could get along, but Trump probably can't countenance the competition. He could end up making amends, but I doubt DeSantis, for his part, will kiss the ring like Cruz did.
They'd be better together than as enemies. But it is what it is.

People don't like losers. Fair or unfair doesn't have anything to do with it. It's the instinct to avoid eye contact and look down around a person that has lost big. You can't break that deep instinct without owning the media and the public square. Yes trump was robbed and treated horribly. And yes many conspired to try completely destroy him. And maybe they were successful. Yes Biden is also a loser and has been pantsed on the national stage many times. But we're not playing on a level field.
A large portion of Trump's support came from the belief he was unstoppable in spite of all the left's advantages. Those days are gone. A large fraction of leftist support for whatever muppet they put up is based on the belief that they are unstoppable. With lots of direct proof to back up that belief. Again things aren't level.
We need a type of assymetrical warfare to win and I don't think Trump can provide that anymore.

I like them both. And Noem won by a bigger margin than Ron this year. In fact, 4 governors had bigger margins than Ron. And I like him too.
My guess is Trump thought he had a deal with Ron. He helped him get the governors job and expected his backing for a run in 2024 in return and to date Ron has not complied. Trump values loyalty over everything. I don't think he needed to come out with such a strong statement but it's not rocking my world. I'm old enough to remember when Bush supporters spread a rumor about McCain's daughter in South Carolina. Politics is a rough business.

I like Scarlet Witch in the comics, but she has gone nutso and done horrible things in that, too. She was a bad guy almost her entire MCU run with a very brief "well I guess I'll fight the threat to me" run.
And yet the writers kept going out of their way to portray her as unfairly attacked and every character tried to tell her she was just fine despite her many, many evil deeds.
Her motivations in the Dr Strange movie were very puzzling. She no longer cares about Vision, when the entire character arc up to that point was her undying perfect overwhelming love never shown in the movies for a robot? Within the context of this film itself, it made sense. This is a problem with these big, connecting movies. It's hard to make all the connecting pieces stick all the time.
So, they're effectively just episodes in a big, elaborate television show, but it might be better to just view them as individual stories on their own.
There's a reason I prefer movies to television, and it's not because I think movies need more interconnectedness to other movies.

I didn't but supported him completely after he secured the nomination. I have defended him to the hilt for six years. I've done my part. A competent candidate shouldn't need this much defending from his supporters.
People are allowed to prefer other candidates, you know. The problem with NeverTrump was that they defected to Democrats rather than support Trump, not that they supported other people in the *primaries.* Most Trump supporters supported other people in the *primaries.* Most Trump supporters here supported someone else in the primaries.
I don't see what Trump is fighting for now. You say he's fighting the establishment. I don't see it. I see him fighting for personal vindication, and, while he is owed that -- he was screwed, definitely -- that's not a big enough cause for me to sign up for, especially when his devotion to that cause alone jeopardizes all the more important causes.

That's not a requirement, and shouldn't be. Nor is it unexpected that he work on a warchest. If Trump goes down due to age, or fading popularity or whatever we would need DeSantis to be ready. If the DeSantis act fades, we will need Trump, or someone else that nobody can see.

I'm stating a fact. It gets stated here constantly that DeSantis is the most successful and most popular governor in the country. That happens largely because nobody really talks about any other states but the big media markets. There were other very successful Republican governors.
You aren't honestly saying the electorate in Florida hasn't changed dramatically in the last decade or so and that Republicans haven't benefited dramatically from cleaning up the voting, something DeSantis gets a lot of credit for, are you?
1000 people per day have been pouring into FL on a daily basis, largely from blue states, and making FL redder. Rubio also had a huge win and he wasn't riding DeSantis coattails. Florida is now a ruby red state, the days of swing state status are over.

I think there is still some votes to come in from the rural counties too. But the 300K in Maricopa is the most important.
This may be more important to Masters, Cook may have called the race too soon if they were making an assumption on Kelly vote share in Pima.

Doesn't work that way CBD, a lot of people did criticize Trump for it to the extent that in 2020, it may have lost him some votes particularly from anti-semites. Wives with ambition have been criticized forever more (hillary and bill, Marc sanford and his wife, and fdr, and eleanor, what's his name in VA and his wife who were charged with corruption but Scotus killed it.
Basically, the GOP has a lot of people that believe you do not criticize each other except in the back room where the visitors cannot hear.
The Democrats, used to do their brawls in public but nowadays with their nouveau riche prefer to do it GOP style with shivs.

okay I pretty much agree with you but I don't think Trump is a good persuader on the issue. For one thing, he is not a policy guy, and does not talk specific reforms. For another thing, he mostly just talks about his specific election, and doesn't talk about what he should be emphasizing, elecitons going forward.
lastly, trump is unpopular, so when he links his own loss to election integrity, he actually hurts the case of election integrity.
trump speaks only in conclusions. He does not provide step-by-step persuasion for the unconvinced. So if you *already agree with him*, well, you already agree with him.
but if you don't? Then what? When does he even give a speech were he makes a point-by-point case for his policy?
He's just not interested in that. And that is NOT some minor part of the job you can just blow off.

Similar situation in Ohio. A good slug of middle class voters switched sides and made the state red. Thing is, these voters flip isn't just about Trump the man, but is also about the way he was fighting the system that had ruined them. If you want to keep those folks interested, you have to keep fighting that fight about reindustrializing. You go back to elite team A versus elite team B and they won't come in for you.
Even if you get rid of Trump you need to back his issues strongly, possibly more strongly than he would have to.

This is true. But one of these two is far more likely to mobilize the opposition, which will have consequences in other races across the country. For example: in 2018, there was a Dem wave of appellate judges elected in the Houston area. Since then the GOP has been very competitive in those appellate races, snagging six of the last eight. But if Trump is on the ballot in 2024, there'll be another Dem appellate wave in the Houston area because Trump has high negatives and motivates the opposition bigly. I'm not anti-Trump because of that, but it is something to consider. If we are going to lose the presidency no matter what in 2024, salvaging what we can is not an unreasonable strategy.

That sort of timeline prevents someone from slipping through the vetting that is necessary. Even Trump announced in 2015. So stop the fan dance as a practical matter of politics--it fools no one and DeSantis, if he hopes to win cannot play a secret king--he will have to take it if he wants it not draft behind Trump like Cruz did.

Notice, Tom Cotton announced unequivocally he was not running for prezzie a couple of weeks ago. That is how you do it. It takes roughly two years to set up.

I absolutely favor Trump over DeSantis right now. Not because I don't like DeSantis, I do. I think Trump has a much better shot which is why their seems to be a coordinated effort by the establishment to take Trump down right now. I'm not saying you DeSantis supporters, and you are, don't be coy, are establishments but the entire media along with people like the Lincoln Project are out promoting DeSantis and the left is still urging the DOJ to charge Trump with something, anything, to take him out. They aren't doing this because they think he will be easy to beat.
But if DeSantis beats Trump then I will enthusiastically support him. Not sure the voters in FL will be that happy but we shall see.
As I said, Florida is not the same state today it was even 2 years ago when it was considered a swing state. It's a red state today. And yes, Trump easily won Florida in 2020.

I tried to watch a Trump rally the other day but it just wasn't as uplifting because I felt so beleagured. I agreed with his points but no longer felt like I was winning.
Explaining is a DeSantis strong point - the way he derailed the "don't say gay" narrative with "ok, groomer". THAT is something we need.

Read Aristotle regarding political argumentation. Most people only think in rhetoric regarding politics which is why emotions and narratives will always matter more to the general electorate than facts and rational thinking. That is dialectic because you are trying to use facts plus logic to persuade others of teh correctness of your thinking. If either your facts or your logic is wrong, you correct your statements.
The best rhetoric is one that is in general accordance with the truth but like any heuristic, it will necessarily have caveats, deviations, etc. necessary to comply with the situation on the ground. The best dialectic is simply the closest representation to reality that can be reached by logic and facts. Dialectic does not do well on the campaign trail.

Its the fcuk you vote. The normal dem voters who will cross over to give a fcuk you. This is a problem. First, they can't model it, it doesn't show up in the primaries. So its hard to know when and how much to cheat. Second, it makes cheating harder because there aren't as many undervotes - those people show up voting for the repubs and you get too many to reasonable then attribute to the dem candidate. It screws up the cheating if there is a big Fcuk you vote. Not that is a theory. Its not provable or verifiable beforehand. Either way, we need to primary this sucka and see what happens. We also need to do things, that we don't normally do in blue states.

I know you keep saying DeSantis is a stronger candidate but I've seen no evidence of that. And no, I'm no saying you are establishment or LP. I'm saying those groups obviously view Trump as the stronger candidate which is why they are pushing him because they want the Democrat to win in the general.

For people who are unfamiliar with DeSantis, one politician attacking another is not particularly offputting. Saying "See how mean Trump is!" doesn't do anything for DeSantis. When an accusation or attack comes in, people first wonder "Is it true?". Ground has been lost relative to no accusation.

DeSantis is a careful calculating disciplined politician who has been very effective as governor of Florida. Far better than most. I also think he is probably has a genius level iq. But, whether he is appealing to the nation at large, dunno. Will Trump be in 2024, dunno. Who would win a contest in primaries? Dunno. Would Youngkin or someone else be even better? Dunno.
That is why we have a process and trying to short circuit the process and jam the door shut on Trump when he waited on his announcement until Nov. 15th, that is the sort of thing that could doom DeSantis or any GOP presidential candidate if they were involved in orchestrating a hit on Trump.
If they did it, then step up and be proud of it and explain why. Hide it, and it stinks of something rotten.
