Folks, Get Ready for a Shock: With His Last Action as a Senatorial Candidate, Evan McMullin Lied In a Preening, Narcissistic, Sanctimonious Way

He claimed -- in a Tweet, of course; all these Twitter-Based Life-Forms do is Tweet and raise money off of Twitter links -- that while he conceded to Lee, he sternly, heroically advised Mike Lee that he had better uphold his oath to the Constitution, with the unstated but palpable implication that if he didn't, Rough, Tough Evan just might coming for him.

You'll never guess, but it turns out, the lifelong liar was lying about this, and once again counterfeiting himself to make himself look good on Twitter for his Twitter zombie fans.

In a subsequent Facebook post and tweet, McMullin claimed he told Sen. Lee, "I truly hope that he upholds his oath to the Constitution during his upcoming term."

Lee's son John retorted via Twitter: "That is not at all how the call went. I was there. Both candidates were surprisingly cordial. For once, you didn't take the typical pedantic tone -- I was surprised how kind the exchange was. And then you turned around and tweeted this. You have lied and deceived until the very end."

Utah's Republican Party Vice Chairman Jordan Hess would go on to corroborate John's tweet. "I was also there. What @johndlee says is true. McMullin continues to lie," he tweeted.

So here is my guess, and I'll bet six dollars ($6 US) that I'm right: His next grift is a 501(c)(3) about "monitoring and enforcing Muh Constitutional Normz" and this is his opening PR move before he files the paperwork.

Will you donate $100 so that Evan McMullin can pay $8 to an assistant in India to scan the Twitter feeds of Republicans and make snarky comments to them about the Constitution, while using the rest of the money to fund his lavish no-work lifestyle?

(I'm taking it easy today because it's Veterans Day -- I'm not a Veteran, just taking the opportunity to take a half day that better men have secured for me -- and because it was a tough week. Posts today are going to be very quick and superficial.)

Irrespective of my loathing for Mitch, this is how you win. You don't win by being a divisive man-baby more concerned with your fragile ego and throwing pejoratives at your own troops during battle. You do what needs to be done to win the battle.

48 and this is how my day started out, after shoo-ing Mr. Squirrel away from Baby Birdie's feeder:

so I go to my first job, it's at a manufacturer and I was hired to do office type work but sometimes have to assist the shipper. He tells me to follow him to Assembly and there's a bigassed piece of SS bar that he needs to lift, and he asked me if I could lift it.

"Oh hell no, I'm not lifting anything" sez I. "I was hired to do office work, get one of the guys to do it"

wtf is wrong w/people? I have seen WAY too many safety training vids where guys who aren't properly PPE'd end up with crushed fingers and sheet. And those are men, with the upper body strength and capability to lift thing and sheet.

49 >>>30 ace have you watched Vengeance ? If so I'd like to read your take.

a while ago. I liked it but didn't love it. I'm a bit sensitive to political knocks on My Peoplez and while the movie tried to be balanced, I thought it was "balanced" in the way that the left is-- condescending. They look very much down at conservatives and rural people. Their idea of being "respectful" to such people is to be kind to them, because they are inferior and mentally handicapped.

Now the movie kind of acknowledged that but it acknowledged that while doing it.

the ending didn't do it for me, I thought it was contrived. I didn't think his attempt to find a Big Idea about Current Moment worked, though I guess I appreciated the effort.

It was okay. I think most people liked it more than I did.

Kemp and GOPe wont do jack shit to turnout voters than typical money wasting robocalls, spam emails, campaign flyers, and pointless media ads. The GA GoPe is allergic to grassroots participation and the voters that need to be reached are not in the urban or suburban areas--they are the rural voters.

Before blather comes in about how wonderful Kemp is--Kemp managed only a +2 over the generic GOP vote for other statewide offices. Given what he spent on various vote buying schemes using Covid money and sidelining Sonny by offering him a patronage job. And he was facing an unappealing Dem for the second time. That is actually a bit lower than what he should have got.

90 it's a fools errand though. as was pointed out by one of the various engineering podcasters i watch from time to time.

we spend a couple hours at best a few times a month, maybe, trying to keep the squirrel away from the bird food.

that squirrel spends every waking moment trying to get that sweet free food. the only way to beat it is to spend as much time trying to stop it.

somehow, that feels like a parable for democrats...

No. There are so many things I would rather spend $100 on right now:
- Having my shirts dry-cleaned so I don't have to iron
- Booze
- Paying off the boss-man of the roving gang of monkeypox spreaders that set up shop down the road

So what I really would have preferred is a much stronger focus on the genre elements -- comedy, mystery -- and a lighter attempt at the "literary" elements (cultural critique/finding philosophical meaning).

I didn't think he managed much as far as the latter and it took away from the time I would have rather spent on the reasons I rented the movie (comedy detective stuff).

I think that's an optimistic take on Mitch and our relative situation. We have in this cycle an ongoing struggle between Trump and Mitch(largely Mitch's fault as Trump wanted to work with the GOPe so long as they would push his voters' policies). No way he goes quietly into the night especially in a furor of anti-Trump activity. So it's more likely that he's co-opted Walker than that he's reconciled with MAGA.

The committee has yet to hear from outgoing Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi (D-CA), who was in charge of security arrangements at the Capitol that day. Not wise in my estimation. Warnock is the former pastor of ML King's old church and has the urban black voters knocked down. Hershel would do better hunting for votes in the rural areas that probably still remember his football glory days. But, his strategists may know a bit more where he ran behind the other GOP candidates and why. 242 Oysters must have been a big thing here because some properties, mine included, have an oyster cooking setup built into the brick wall along the property perimeter. A place to set the oysters, a fire box, and a chimney built into the wall. House was built in the 40s. People would spend a morning on the shore collecting then take home their bounty to roast. I guess steamed is more popular now but back then they roast/steamed them.

I disagree and have my reasons which I don't care to disclose. You have to have people on the ground and for that you have to have people willing to crawl over broken glass to work for you. No evidence that Kemp has that going for him or the other GOP executive officials in office around here. Most canning kitchens I've seen - the old ones anyway - are a shack out back. Drag the equipment over and heat the hell out of that place.

In places I've seen with two kitchens (a sparse "canning kitchen" and the real kitchen), the canning kitchen has usually been in the basement. Putting it upstairs would make some sense, I just haven't ever seen it before.

320 I think I may go for a drive over to the Olympic Peninsula this weekend. There's an oyster farm out there that has amazing oysters and clams. You sit outside by the bay and eat and drink and it's chilly and damp and the fire is hot and crackling. You bring blankets for your lap and wear a rain coat and drink prosecco and eat oysters jn the half shell.

It's lovely. Out of range.

Anyone want to join me?

321 In places I've seen with two kitchens (a sparse "canning kitchen" and the real kitchen), the canning kitchen has usually been in the basement.

The local elementary school had a breakfast and Veteran's day assembly. Cub Scouts did the flag ceremony, and there were songs, poems, and essay contest winner presentations. Then at the end, they had the vets walk by the kids lined up and gave high fives. It was awkward for me, but I got to see a lot of the kids that I coached or played against, so it was kind of cool.

Thank you, veterans and your families for your service and sacrifice.

Posted by: Aetius451AD
----------------
For whom mebbe. Rubio may not want the job for himself but given his comfortable win may be viewing the long game now. Such as another run for prezzie that can't happen if Turtle remains. Same for other senators with high hopes--Turtle is becoming a drag and probably an embarrassment for them.

McConnell's style of leadership is simply awful and is becoming a drag on the ticket. With a bunch of his cronies bowing out these last two cycles, I think any debts owed to McConnell are getting outweighed by the cost of him as leader for individual senators.

People who fucked with an elephant. Elephants are smart and don't like being teased.

I saw a video from somewhere (Indonesia, I think) where they were using elephants to help with construction. A construction worker was eating a candy bar and the elephant wanted some of it (they love sugar). The construction worker, knowing he was out of range of the chained elephant, offered it some and then snatched it away. This went on several times. The elephant very slowly backed up a little bit each time to pull the guy into range. Then he knocked the guy a good a distance sideways with his trunk, making him drop the candy. The elephant got some candy and the guy got some broken bones.
