Exit Polls Begin Dropping: 73% of Voters Either Dissatisfied or Angry at Biden Record; 66% Don't Want Him to Run Again

ojdemocracy.jpg

So this is how democracy dies...

with a vote.

Posted by: MAGA_Ken

Biden's campaign stops hurt Democrats and helped Republicans, claim Republican operatives. Sounds legit.

President Joe Biden's presence on the campaign trail failed to resonate with voters, GOP strategists say, and ended up hurting his Democratic colleagues in what Biden himself has said is "one of the most important elections in our lifetime."

Biden played it safe on the campaign trail over the past week as he visited mostly Democrat-heavy areas, but he already did damage to Democratic candidates with several appearances that failed to talk about issues that voters care about. GOP strategists said the shift in polling data toward Republicans in recent weeks can be attributed, at least in part, to Biden's lackluster performance on the campaign trail.

Brendan Steinhauser, a consultant for GOP candidates, said Biden failed to create a message that can appeal to moderate voters.

"I think his message is tone-deaf and out of touch, especially with working-class voters and independents," Steinhauser told Fox News Digital. "He's still relatively popular with the Democratic base, but that's it. With independent and swing voters, he's a liability not an asset."

Fake Jake did some of his patented pearl clutching over Trump referring to Nancy Pelosi -- who is a senior member of the opposing party during an election -- "an animal," insisting that you're not allowed to say anything negative about her because it might inspire another Right Wing Nudist Pedo-Adjacent Drug Addict BLM-Flag-Flying Hemp-Jewelry-Making Ultra MAGA Republican Attacker.

Fake Jake never told anyone they are not permitted to attack Rand Paul or Bret Kavanaugh, and he never attacked Democrats for saying that Rand Paul's neighbor "had a point," as Paul Pelosi's daughter did.

But he's a Good Guy, twitter cvcks tell me.

Palm Beach County, the county that tried to steal the 2000 election for Gore, is -- or was -- heavily Democratic.

And today?

Regarding the exit polls: The exit polls understate Republican support, and yet... they seem to presage a Republican victory.

Take, for example, the, um, example of Guam.

Rich Baris "The People's Pundit"
@Peoples_Pundit

1h
Worth noting, James Moylan, the Republican who defeated Judi Won Pat (D) for Guam's delegate to Congress, was trailing in the exit polls, SIGNIFICANTLY.

13 points, last I saw. He won by 5 points.

Folks, I kid you not. The exit poll showed:

Judith Won Pat, Democrat: 56.3%
James Moylan, Republican: 43.7%

Moylan, won. 5 points.

Speaking of exit polls, though:

He refused to spend money for a proper election challenge in Nevada in 2020, for example, and just let the RNC spend $40,000 or whatever on a recount. The cost for a challenge he was quoted was around $2 million, IIRC, and he didn't want to pay it, so the cheap option it was.

They can't let her win. They need Arizona. Same with Wisconsin, though the GOP over there is less feiry about fixing election fraud. If they do, there's another 10 electoral votes the Dems lose.

My father, who was quite an accomplished Civil War historian, had an interesting take on McClellan. His opinion was that McClellan loved the Army too much, to the point that he could not bear to risk it or take casualties. He explained that this was why McClellan was far too cautious when put on the offense, always finding a reason to delay and retreating at the first sign of any setback. On the other hand, for this same reason McClellan was absolutely brilliant on Defense, when he had to protect the Army he loved so much. His tactical victory over Lee in the 7 Days Battle is an example.

So, 1/2 of a good General - Brilliant on Defense, but incapable of any effective Offense.

There are five dangerous faults which may affect a general: (1) Recklessness, which leads to destruction; (2) cowardice, which leads to capture; (3) a hasty temper, which can be provoked by insults; (4) a delicacy of honor which is sensitive to shame; (5) over-solicitude for his men, which exposes him to worry and trouble.

Of course YOU are not a troll! But no one here says that Trump is 'practically a saint.' He's rough and uncouth sometimes but there's no denying that he saved our country and is trying to do it again. That we have two strong candidates on our side is amazing but tonight I'm not going to worry about them duking eventually. (I also think that Trump has earned my trust - if he raises issues, there's usually a reason, but we'll see). Tonight Id prefer to celebrate our upcoming victories together, as a true family of morons.

280 it's not trolling. It's preposterous the absurd levels of virtue some of you ascribe to trump.

I think that's absurd. Trump supporters acknowledge that Trump isn't perfect and his ego is ginnormous. We just appreciate what he has accomplished in DC and what he is accomplishing tonight which many who don't support him refuse to even acknowledge. The most exciting candidates who look to be winning tonight are all MAGA candidates that Trump has spent the last couple years working to get elected. Nobody, not even DeSantis has done what Trump has done to make tonight happen.

DeSantis has done a great job in FL with a Republican legislature. And he owes his office largely to Trump's support. That's just a fact. If he runs and wins I will enthusiastically support him.

DeSantis supporters play this coy game of not admitting their criticism of Trump is mostly just support of DeSantis instead of Trump. Kind of preposterous the level of virtue some ascribe to DeSantis as well.

West AND East. He kicked Lee's ass all the way to Richmond and it took all Lee's skill and luck and repeated exposure to enemy fire to keep his army intact. He rebuilt the AoP from a politicized army that would defeat itself into a force that was as good or better than any army in the world - certainly the cavalry force was second to none by 1865 - it pretty much trapped Lee's retreat by itself and caused the surrender of about half or more.

Meade kept the same organization he inherited, and that left some of his corps very weak. Just as well that Mine Run didn't work out.

When Grant arrived, he turned the army upside-down, consolidating it into II, V and VI, and he also took the "heavies" out of DC and turned them into infantry. This gave him an army with a lot more heft, and which could absorb losses without losing cohesion. McClellan's structure was very sensitive to casualties because the formations were so small.

Note that Lee also had fewer, bigger units.

Most candidate biography is puff pr shit and a lot of time you only find out something bad afterwards. Like do we know even now how bad GWB's drug problem was. We know now that the NYT was not lying that GHWB was having an affair with his 'aide', and so on. Actions mean more to me than words and we have a whole year or so to worry about the 2024 race.

Grant got the blame from the dismembered Corps, but it was Meade who wanted it. The old corps were too small and there weren't enough good corps commanders. After the merge, the new corps were too big to handle and there STILL weren't enough good corps commanders.

After the autumn they had added quite a few new corps to the army from the Army of the James and elsewhere and had a good set of corps commanders for the final close out. The spring campaign was a model and captured Lee's army in the field in a campaign of about two weeks.

Only three rebel armies surrendered due to military action before war's end, and all three were to Grant.

But that doesn't explain Antietam - since he found the exact arrangement of the enemy and the location and the march plan. So he knew how many troops even by his lying intelligence and knew he was superior in numbers. And he still delayed, let the enemy concentrate and came as close to losing as possible.

434 The 2016 Republican slate of primary candidates was really amazing. It is only in retrospect that we think they were all terrible. But we were ALL here quite sure that things had been set by the GOPe for Jeb to win. He was a popular governor of Florida, raised a zillion dollars, brother and son of Presidents and name recognition out the wazoo. He was, on paper, a killer Republican candidate. Ted Cruz. Kasich was governor of Ohio. Dr. Ben Carson. Carly Fiorina (don't laugh she had good tickets). Rand Paul! Newt Gingrich! Rick Perry, Governor of Texas. Marco Rubio (remember the Ewok's constant sexing of his garbage?). Mike Huckabee, governor of Arkansas, Chris Christie, governor of New Jersey, Jim Gilmore governor of Virginia, Scott Walker governor of Wisconsin, Bobby Jindal governor of Louisiana, George Pataki governor of New York, Lindsey Graham.

All of them were credible candidates. Let's see how many come out in 2024.

461 in 2016 many said (something like) "no he is not our perfect candidate, he is our destroyer, collector of skulls"

And Trump did expose, but also dumped most of those that helped him win. His biggest campaign slogan about the wall ... came from Coulter's book (Adios America). Then he later dumped on her too. "Loyalty?"

But Jarvanka got the corner office ... then he could never fire Fauci/Birx, even as Fauci trashed Trump on MSNBC, and as Fauci shut down America, made going to church a crime. idk, I can appreciate what Trump did .. but not sure what the next path forward is.

Still, Trump seems to have the momentum with the MAGA thang, so we probably should go with that. DeSantis taking money from a (at best) squish billionaire is a concern, especially if he does like Walker did, and conform his platform to keep the squish billionaire happy.

But for tonight, I want to celebrate some level of victory ... the House, The Senate ... hurray. (and I will imagine treasonous Mitch and McCarthy somehow being defeated, to keep my mood up)

495 @380 whig-I like what DeSantis is doing so far but dammit we've been burned by governors that do a good job governing and campaigning at the state level.......get to the national stage and you wonder wtf happened. Same thing I said yesterday, keep them at arms length and don't fall in love. Felt that way about Cruz back in 2016, feel that way about Trump even now, goes for DeSantis and Kari Lake for that matter. The conservative media is useless for vetting these people out and so are we citizens. We need to be asking the tough questions ourselves instead of clapping like seals when they "own" a lefty reporter then go "yup they're the real deal!" Frustrating and WE. DO. IT. ALL. THE. TIME.

496 436 The 2016 Republican slate of primary candidates was really amazing.

Posted by: Chatterbox Mouse at November 08, 2022 06:20 PM (C1rbv)

The big problem facing Grant in 1864 was that Lee's forces were operating along a shorter radius from Richmond than Grant's force. Grant's troops force always had to disengage and march faster than Lee's troops did to take up the next position to the S, SE, or SW, to get around Lee's flank. I'm not sure Northern troops ever out-paced Southern troops in Virginia, before March 1865.

Grant was a true commander. The Big Black River campaign, which led to Vicksburg's capture, is amazing. Unprecedented.

And he crushed the Confederacy. Put it in a hammer-lock. McClellan could have done the exact same thing, but was too weak. Heck, the path to Richmond was wide open!

If you have done any kind of "blind" wargaming, Cold Harbor makes sense. You've been hammering away, you know the other side is suffering, so you see if you can bash your way through the center at last. Lee may well have been out of position, and if Grant had been right, the Army of Northern Virginia was toast.

Yup, that was a last throw of the overland campaign. Lee was stretched to his utmost but the design of his entrenchments was superb, built in a day and a night. If he had broken the line, the war would have been over as Lee had no reserves at all.

A few days later, Grant pulled off a masterful move, holding off all Reb scouts, crossing the James and getting 90000 troops to the gates of Petersburg before Lee had any idea where he was. Only a series of mistakes and overcaution kept Grant from ending the war there. But once Lee believed Beauregard about the location of the AofP he managed to get his men down there to man the trenches and hold the line, but at that point the war was over. Lee was pinned and as soon as he lost an engagement it would be the end.

it's not trolling. It's preposterous the absurd levels of virtue some of you ascribe to trump.
ou just pretend he's not doing this out of ego -- no, it's all to Save The People. I mean, gimme a break.
By the way, he didn't spend his fortune. He was actually very cheap. He refused to spend money for a proper election challenge in Nevada in 2020, for example, and just let the RNC spend $40,000 or whatever on a recount. The cost for a challenge he was quoted was around $2 million, IIRC, and he didn't want to pay it, so the cheap option it was.

Political General Ben Butler stupidly getting his detached force bottled-up in the Bermuda Hundred peninsula, instead of threatening Richmond's lines of supply from the SE was not included in Grant's plans for the 1864 campaign. If Grant had had Sherman and his top subordinates running the Army of the Potomac in 1864, history would have been a lot different.

643 >>All they have is the evil Trump monster.

I wouldn't disagree with you. It's not nearly enough.

I think some seem to forget how popular Trump actually is with people not the media. Look at the candidates who are winning tonight. Kari Lake, who I have been (figuratively, sadly) humping for the last year is running as an unabashed Trump MAGA candidate. DeSantis was trailing in the Republican primary in FL until he got Trump's endorsement in his first run and then ran ads with his young son build a wall out of blocks. Virtually all new Republicans we pulling for tonight are Trump Republicans.

Trump's fingerprints are all over this new Republican party. He is the undisputed leader of the Republican party today and there isn't even a viable challenger. That's not my opinion that is what is happening. Trump spent the last 2 years doing rallies across the country for these candidates we are cheering on tonight. Despite the media hating him what evidence is there that people don't like his leadership?

Bring it on. Trump vs whomever the Democrats nominate. I like our chances.

Yes Trump hate is real. And they had to fucking cheat to beat him.

This shit is overblown IMO.

646 Yeah, McClellan did a nice job of putting the Army of the Potomac together. But all he did was march it up and down until Lincoln was forced to say:

"If General McClellan does not want to use the army, I would like to borrow it for a time."

647 It was Lee coming down sick at the North Anna River that is the all-time 'what if' of the Civil War.
Posted by: Ghost of kari at November 08, 2022 06:36 PM (T0jjm)

What if Lee tried off another charge against a fortified line like the disasters at Malvern Hill or Pickett's charge or Bristoe Station, do you mean?

Post Meade running the army after Chancellorsville Lee never had success pushing the AOP off the field, though he could spank them fairly badly at times. I see no reason why North Anna would have been different than his other attacks in the overland campaign and there would have been no flanking possible.

649 Political General Ben Butler stupidly getting his detached force bottled-up in the Bermuda Hundred peninsula, instead of threatening Richmond's lines of supply from the SE was not included in Grant's plans for the 1864 campaign. If Grant had had Sherman and his top subordinates running the Army of the Potomac in 1864, history would have been a lot different.
Posted by: Gref at November 08, 2022 06:41 PM (AMIL/)

Sherman was perfectly placed where he could run a campaign of maneuver. He would have been wasted in the East. The Army of the Potomac was simply a dysfunctional mess. Sherman would have had to shoot generals to get what he wanted. A historian pointed out that while the Western Union armies might not have had many great generals, they had consistently competent leadership that usually worked well together.

Yeah, and Sigel screwing up in the Valley didn't help either. But Grant just put out a new plan, defended Washington from Early's Raid, and moved on to a junction with Butler. This pinned Lee to Richmond and Petersburg, and when Lee detached forces to get Grant to retire he detached forces of his own to block the raid on Washington, and when they dicked about too long sent the Cavalry and Sheridan to crush the detached Corps. Only a small force ever got back to Lee.

I agree. Without Sherman running the Georgia Campaign, the Union does not take Savannah before the 1864 election, which could have shifted history in a disastrous direction.

Atlanta. Savannah was taken around Xmas time, after the March to the Sea.

Agree this was a big thing, though Sheridan also had his wins at Winchester and Cedar Creek all of which put and end to any 'no progress in the war' argument by the Dems.
