The outlook on the election is starting to solidify.
Last night AZ senate race moved into "fat lady is singing" territory. Overnight polling the last two days have swung sharply to Masters as the Libertarian candidate dropping out has shifted 2% of the vote to Masters. I now consider GA, FL, NC, WI, OH, PA, MO, and AZ to be finished with the GOP winning all of them. That is a net +2 in the Senate and will be the absolute floor for GOP control. Let's begin with an indisputable fact. What Kanye West, a.k.a. Ye, is saying about Jews is anti-Semitic. Why? Because "the Jews run everything" is pure libel. That’s why Jews are not paranoid about being deeply troubled by such sentiments. If widely believed, they will almost inevitably lead to the persecution of Jews.
And yet Kanye has been destroyed for making the statement. His billion dollar empire is gone in the blink of an eye. I'm tired of the double standard of Jews crowing about how they have risen to these great positions and when someone points it out crying anti-semitism. After Spain expelled its Jews in 1492, that major world power went into a 500-year decline. Wow, horrible history. Spain conquered South and Central America after 1492. Their decline had more to do with their conquests and the vast amounts of gold which caused economic problems. Also, can there be anything more arrogant than "You didn't like us and therefore you were ruined?" Posted by: WiNO - Now Fortified with Fraud at November 02, 2022 08:08 AM (EpDzw) 61

I will not inflict you with an excerpt or pull quote from the article, except that there is one salient point that execrable, bitter, low-life, no-talent shit-whore Joy Behar swerved into which is, again, both a prime example of projection but quite revelatory:
"There is no both sides." ++++ Ah, so that's where the DU trolls are getting it. Cool. The argument - which is that political violence by conservatives is because of conservative evil and that political violence by the left is because of conservative evil - is a classic "heads I win, tails you lose" framing of the argument. It's profoundly stupid and illogical, but it's also The View. Today is All Souls Day - sometimes called the Day of the Dead. On this day, and during the month of November, the Church prays in a special way for the souls of the faithful departed, and individuals pray especially for those whom they have known and loved. The Holy Souls in purgatory died in the mercy of God, thus they are called "holy." However, because they still had attachment to sin at the time of their death, they must undergo the spiritual purification of their souls before they are able to fully love God with their whole heart, mind, and soul for all eternity. As they are nevertheless part of the communion of saints, they depend upon us to help ease their suffering and quickly advance them through their purification so that they can join the saints in heaven. Those in purgatory cannot pray for themselves, this is why they are also called "poor." They can no longer merit anything for themselves and rely entirely on living souls to pray and make sacrifices on their behalf.
This is our opportunity to reach beyond our physical world. Posted by: Tonypete at November 02, 2022 08:14 AM (LsEU/) 87
Hayek had a simple argument in his Road to Serfdom: in addition to being inherently coercive, central planning is sub-optimal because it's not as good as free market pricing at processing information in order to make informed decisions. Even when bureaucrats are smart and well-intentioned, they don't always have all the information they need. If they do have sufficient information, they get overwhelmed by it. Free market pricing wins every time, with the exception of the occasional grand military-oriented project.
An extension of this idea is that bureaucrats don't like change and won't admit to making mistakes. Compare the private sector: even monopolistic companies that don't change and won't admit to making mistakes will eventually fail. Posted by: Ignoramus at November 02, 2022 08:14 AM (SJsWC) 88

Reagan, a closet intellectual, was a big fan of Hayek. If you believed Hayek, you'd have understood the Soviet Union's vulnerability.
The book itself is a bit of a slog because of Hayek's acaemic style. You can find a Reader's Digest summary version online, which I recommend. This summary version was read by millions back in 1945, when we had far fewer people getting higher education. The conceit of today's wannabe central planners is the belief that with Big Data and their own hyper-developed Super Smarts these old rules no longer apply. They can run everthing from Borg Central Command. And developments like driverless cars will turn much of the populace into superfluous CO2 emitters. We're about to see devastating consequences from this conceit. Sadly, me and mine are strapped in for the ride. Posted by: Ignoramus at November 02, 2022 08:14 AM (SJsWC) 91
House republicans could just refuse to pass the next CR that funds them and propose a budget that reduces funding agencies like the IRS, the FBI and the host of other agencies that function to the detriment of the US. Make every department head defend his budget publicly. Shut it down and keep it that way until a real budget is passed.

This is what a man-made storm convergence looks like. As cargo piles up in ports, a rail strike is looming — because of government dereliction. We don't have the trucks to move the cargo — because of ill conceived emissions standards. If we did have the trucks, we couldn't fuel them — because our government has decided that it prefers batteries to the fossil fuels that charge the batteries
It's a perfect storm of life-threatening crises — brought to us entirely by the Biden administration. So who in our government should be fixing this mess? That would be our intrepid secretary of transportation, Pete Buttegeig, who has never fixed anything in his life but checks all of the required intersectionality boxes John Green, nailing the obvious. ... Even when bureaucrats are smart and well-intentioned, they don't always have all the information they need. If they do have sufficient information, they get overwhelmed by it. ...
Posted by: Ignoramus at November 02, 2022 08:14 AM (SJsWC) ++++ This wasn't new, though Hayek articulated it more clearly than most. This is called the "socialist calculation problem" and, in modern computing parlance, it is a problem of data starvation. You have inadequate data to set prices and therefore set production. You actually could hypothetically gather enough data, but you'd be unable to process it. The data starvation is because of variable elimination, which is necessary to be able to do anything at all. In many ways, it's the same problem as climate modeling faces, which is why the two models work approximately as well as one another. But the market is so *messy* and they're not in charge, so they'll try, try again. The bureaucracy is indeed extremely self-impressed and unwilling to acknowledge mistakes and this ties in with why they keep accelerating toward the cliff. Free speech is about more than what the First Amendment requires. Fairly broad tolerance is required for meaningful free-speech rights to exist,. We currently have a culture in which conservatives are so in the shadows that pollsters have difficulty polling them. At any rate, let's not kid ourselves, we're finding out that a lot of speech-related consequences meted out by private actors have been taken at the direction of government actors. The private-actor/government distinction isn't terribly meaningful when the government is using private actors to do its bidding.

There were many players in any given game and if one of them keeled over and died, you could use the others. When GM sourced parts like radio aerials from, say, six or seven different manufacturers from large outfits to family shops, the loss of any one of them wasn't too big a deal. If they source them all from only one, there's serious trouble if it fails. But single-sourcing is efficient and everyone at all levels went down that road. Now if they came out and said, this virus was a labe created, bio-engineered virus that we've never seen before and its mode and mechanism of action is not understood at all, then I would have a little, and I mean, a little forgiveness for some aspects of the harm they inflicted. But that's not what went down. This was an Op and scam at every level of analysis and the people who perpetrated this Op should suffer extreme and dire consequences for what they did and the deaths and carnage they caused. White Ohio police officer who fatally shot a Black [sic] driver during struggle inside a car ordered to pay family $4.4-million.
||A white police officer who fatally shot a Black driver during a struggle inside a car in 2017 must pay his family $4.4 million. An Ohio jury made the award Tuesday, finding that Euclid officer Matthew Rhodes acted recklessly when he climbed into 23-year-old Luke Stewart’s car and shot him as Stewart drove away. The shooting had inflamed racial tensions in Euclid, a Cleveland suburb, and a grand jury declined to indict Rhodes after hearing evidence from prosecutors. The jury's finding stemmed from a wrongful death lawsuit filed by Stewart’s mother. The panel said Rhodes must pay Stewart’s family $3.9 million for the loss of his support and companionship and $500,000 for the pain and suffering he went through. But Rhodes will not have to pay punitive damages to the family or attorney’s fees.|| Posted by: andycanuck (yikp0) at November 02, 2022 09:03 AM (yikp0) 337

It can ruin your economic future, destroy your family, crush your neighbors, and make everyone less safe. It can corrupt your education system and flood your community with illegal immigrants who exist based on your tax money- all while you can't afford gas or groceries. Posted by: BlackOrchidDancingByMyself at November 02, 2022 08:56 AM (w0NJk) ++++ I toured Temple back in the early aughts when I was shopping for colleges. The girl who was leading the tour group did a very good job cheerleading for Temple. During the tour, I noticed that they had a lot more of those blue-lighted emergency beacons than other campuses had and the emergency call buttons were much bigger. I asked the girl why the Temple campus had so many. She got very excited and said that they had a lot of them so that if I was being pursued, I could just hit the buttons as I was running and that their computer system would use the inputs to predict potential routes and dispatch police to multiple possible intercept points to help. I have to hand it to her on her ability to spin the horrible reality into a celebration of technical achievement. She is probably a politician now. The traditional media has an outsized influence on our dialogue. Look at their average audience size compared to our population and then against the most watched channel. It's minuscule and their primary success has been to promote that minority point of view in a way that it disproportionately effects or sways public opinion. There is not as much support for the issues they push as it seems. It is more so the amplification that occurs in constant recitation and even counter analysis by detractors.

At this point it's not going to be the winning that's going to be a problem for Republicans, it's going to be the governing. There will be high expectations that Republicans will provide some relief to our citizenry. That's not going to be easy and Republicans have largely shown they will fumble when given these opportunities. If they can govern in a way that pleases the electorate, making material changes that are possible without the presidency, then they will do well and hold power for years to come. If they go back to the establishment playbook, they will not just forego the presidency in two years, buts it's likely they won't hold a majority in Congress. Fucking TV ads. Whatever. I'm fairly convinced that after a certain saturation point of general news on an election in a space, ads just simply drop off to nothing in terms of effectiveness. It all just becomes noise.

I think the ebb and flow of trolling is mostly money-related. A lot of them are paid to do this grubby toil by outfits like Shareblue - my guess is that they apply funding for it like ad dollars in targeted marketing. Flooding specific fora with different messaging at different times, etc. I doubt AoS is considered a great use of money, for a few reasons. But sometimes, as with any targeted marketing, it's time for a big campaign push, or A/B testing, and they just go scattershot on everything. That's when we get hit. McCarthy better wire his shit tightly and McConnell needs to go.

I believe Pfizer and Moderna are both mRNA and J&J is the traditional vaccine.
******** J&J is not quite a traditional vaccine. It does use an inactivated virus, but that is not the target (SARS-2) virus. It uses an inactivated adenovirus with a biit of DNA added, a bit of DNA that codes for the SARS-2 spike protein. It does not use mRNA. Injection => adenovirus enters host cells => host cells express viral DNA => spike protein manufactured => spike protein prompts immune response Posted by: Muldoon at November 02, 2022 09:36 AM (kXYt5) 501
Good morning. Pondering Above the Fold articles,
It's not appropriate or broad enough to release the antifa crowds & the more std forms of disruption but enough of a perfect transportation storm will unravel communities & create more internal migration. (Herding comes to mind.) Unexplained deaths. More autoimmune diseases & viruses? H1N1 (2009-2010) caused an upswing of Type 1 diabetes in children. (I grew up in an area with experimental farms & medical labs scattered around housing & small parks. The high incidents of autoimmune diseases, unusual cancers, deaths from the area have been studied (landfills, incinerators, fire suppression foams in water) in recent times, to no avail. But what couldn't be studied was the runoff from the farms & labs into creeks, swamps, retention ponds in years past. So even now, are viruses killed by all types of water treatment? Venezuela's war on children. DHS announced 'Our comprehensive effort to reduce the irregular migration of Venezuelans also includes a new process to lawfully and safely bring up to 24,000 qualifying Venezuelans into the United States.'
