It's bad. But Biden did manage to put off the crisis until ten days after the election. And that's what really matters, huh? Update:A little bit of hype from Tucker. It's a 25 day day supply if ALL the refineries quit making diesel. I think a piece at ZH said it could become a true national shortage in about 6 months. But the piece also points out that worldwide diesel inventories are also at a record low.Okay, I didn't realize that -- the amount we have on tap is only 25 days worth of diesel, assuming we make no more of it, which isn't true; we are making more of it. But it's in very short supply and could run out. Just not in 25 days. So as GnuBreed says, this is a hype figure from the media (and repeated by Tucker, relying on the media-- which one should never do). But the shortage is real.

The U.S. is facing a diesel crunch just as demand is surging ahead of winter -- with only 25 days of supply left, according to the Energy Information Administration. National Economic Council Director Brian Deese told Bloomberg TV that diesel inventories are "unacceptably low" and "all options are on the table" to bolster supply and reduce prices. However, even as the stockpiles are being drained, the Biden administration seems to be left with very few sustainable options for long-term relief.
Unlike gas and jet fuel, demand for diesel recovered at a much faster pace from the pandemic. Diesel is used for transporting goods as well as powering construction, farming and military vehicles and equipment. ... New England's stockpiles have been depleted to less than a third of its usual levels for this time of year, which is concerning since those states rely on fuel for heating more than other parts of the country. The national average price of diesel as of Oct. 24 is at $5.34 a gallon -- $1.63 more than last year. If diesel inventory continues to run down without the government intervening, the impact on transportation costs for goods could drive inflation up even further. Deese adds that the Fed has some tools to bolster diesel supply, like the Northeast Home Heating Oil Reserve, which houses one million barrels of diesel in case of a disruption in supplies. "We have looked very carefully at being prepared to deploy as and when necessary," he said. But The Washington Post reports that diesel demand is so high, that if a million barrels of diesel were delivered from the Northeast reserves, they would be depleted in less than six hours.
In very related news, the Administration struck a secret deal with the Saudis to pump additional oil through the election -- but apparently the Saudis got sick of Joe Biden's claims of being a football star and having been raised in a "Puerto Rican household."
President Joe Biden's (D) administration has repeatedly claimed, including as recently as today, that the trip the president took to Saudi Arabia over the summer had nothing to do with oil. However, a new report from The New York Times outlined a "secret deal" that the administration had with the kingdom, which Saudi Arabia later turned on. Biden officials began meeting with the Saudis in the spring and allegedly secured a "private oil deal" in which the kingdom would get the OPEC oil cartel to increase their output of oil by 400,000 barrels per day starting in July instead of the previously planned September.With this "secret deal" agreed to, Biden went to Saudi Arabia. Not to negotiate an oil deal, I suppose, but to thank Crown Prince for a deal already struck. But maybe he did not thank him enough:
When he met with Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, the country's day-to-day leader, the Saudis presented the administration with charts that showed that the price of oil had fallen and promised that they would increase oil production to a staggering 11 million barrels per day, which the report noted the country "had reached for only a few months in total over the past several years." Biden's team thought they secured the deal, but Saudi officials were privately telling others that they had no plans to go through with it.America is back, baby! We're respected in the world again! After learning the Saudis would not be increasing oil production, they then learned they'd be cutting it.
Deputy National Security Council spokesliar John Kirby refuses to say if there was a "secret deal" or not. That's a "yes."
The administration then learned that the kingdom was going to cut production and they desperately tried to stop them, but nothing worked. The report effectively said that the Biden administration was clueless as to why the kingdom stabbed them in the back on their "secret deal."
It's worth noting that Biden repeatedly attacked the crown prince and the country while on the campaign trail, the administration has taken a stand against Saudi Arabia in their war in Yemen, and they are working with Saudi Arabia's top enemy in the region: Iran.

prices are elastic. right now, diesel is $8 a gallon or whatever. But in a week, it'll start squeezing ...er expanding...to $10 to $12.
The price isn't going to stay static as the reserve dries up.

Home heating oil and diesel are the same product. They put a dye into diesel so they can tax it higher for over the highway abuse. A trucker gets pulled over with an un-dyed fuel, he's got some 'splainin' to do.
If you heat your home with heating oil a little concern is in order. And a sweater, or three.

The "day supply" assumes normal usage, but anyone who tried to buy toilet paper a couple of years ago knows that once you pass a certain threshold, people will begin topping off everything they can as a hedge, which will cause a surge in demand, leading to panic buying.
As the supply drops, demand accelerates because now it's only 20 days, 15 days, etc.

You can burn wet and green wood, but it takes about three times as much to heat the same amount of house because you have to boil the sap and moisture off first.

MSR and others make multi-fuel stoves, which is useful in a pinhc. But white gas lasts nearly indefinitely and burns cleaner.

The refineries that are operating are running at over 90% of capacity. No, they can't crank out a lot more in a short time frame; that will take building some more refineries, and that will take years and cost an immense amount of money even IF the Feds allow it at all.

Diesel, gasoline, kerosene, and jet fuel are all cracked from the same barrel, but the blends are different based on the refinery layout. The US refineries are currently set up to produce much more gasoline than diesel. There is not enough diesel refining for the demand in the US.

Just broke out my 30+ yr old MSR Whisperlite International last week. Used to carry it around in my buttpack back in the Army days. Love that little thing. Need to replace the seals on it though.
Also, you have to keep the parts and tool kit around to run it on other fuels. Never had to swap parts out for multifuel operation, but it's apparently necessary.

Also, you have to keep the parts and tool kit around to run it on other fuels. Never had to swap parts out for multifuel operation, but it's apparently necessary.
I read the reviews on the Whisperlite International and Coleman and the both stoves were rated highly. I'm not a backpacker, so lightness wasn't an issue. Buying the fuel bottles was, so I went with Coleman.

Recently in Idaho, right around Christmas, there was a large snowfall. I go into the grocery store around Dec. 29 and there are so many empty bins all around the store. Fresh vegetables & fruits, but also all around the store shelves. The heavy snow, combined with the heavy demand of the holiday, caused the inability for shelves to be restocked.
It's a fragile balance in grocery stores on most items, and anyone stocking up on items right now are not peppers...they're realists.

Yup. And of course, my parts kit is long disappeared. Also found that one of my spare fuel bottles is still full of white gas from 1991 when I last used it.
I have about 4 other stoves of various types and fuels, so I'm not too worried.

Approximately. Kerosene is lighter than diesel, if you're just using those terms. Jet fuel is kerosene, heating oil is diesel.
But, kerosene is sometimes called "#1 diesel." Diesel fuel for trucks can be just #2, a blend of both, or just #1. Closer to pure #1 for cold weather since it ignites easier and has lower viscosity, and closer to pure #2 for normal use since it's cheaper to make.

I used to be dependent on the paper making industry for my livelihood. They were always running between 95% and 100% of capacity. Anything under that and there were price hikes and shortages and quotas. Some industries are just unbelievably efficient... until they aren't. JoeBama throwing a wrench into the system is not a good idea for anyone with skin in the game.

Jet fuel (JP-5, DFM, etc) is pretty much very pure kerosene cousins.

The Coleman Model 533 single-burner stove I purchased is clearly labeled "MADE IN USA" and is stamped on the bottom with "WICHITA KANSAS USA" "05 22". Try Apex Gun parts in CO or Liberty Tree Collectors (pricier option), you can also find some but pricey on Ebay. Do you just need the bolt or the complete bolt? Complete bolts go upwards of about $150 or so nowadays. What to watch for in a T99 or T38 bare bolt though is fitting the safety knob as some will not hold the cocking piece on the firing pin.

Lowe's snd Home Depot sell a highly refined, clear kerosene that has almost zero smell and doesn't put out the soot. We burned close to 50 gallons last winter staying warm.

Semi auto rifles don't screw up much but when they do it can be an issue. Might want to check your extractor and delicately soften the edges a bit more using a stone. Should feel like kitten teeth when finished. An ejector on the AR has more than enough spring power to hold a cartridge tight against the ejector and bolt face particularly if the cartridge head is dinged in some way.

The ChemE lab at college had a small cracking tower. The most affordable structure to cover the part of the tower that stuck up out of the building, but still meet code, was an elevator tower. On a one story building.

The ho is talking about CA buses. In CA they exempted government vehicles from CARB. This doesn't really apply to cars and stuff, but for school buses they leave a cloud of soot behind them wherever they go. It is stunning. Shocking. You have to see it to believe it. (I moved out years ago so maybe it has changed.)
Likewise, they protest about preserving ANWAR and the central valley from farms,.... and they dump their trash in a ring around the bottom of the bay in the salt marshes (which are now gone) and you can'e even see the bay for the piles of trash and the stink.

Have them go to Numrich aka gunparts corporation and look for Arisaka as a mfg (even though it isn't). I have just confirmed that they have bare bolts and then you have to buy the safety-firing pin combo and firing spring separately. The combo will run about $160 or so.
Numrich has a parts breakdown and schematic for most firearms including the T99. Doesn't matter much on quality for firing but there is a difference between early bolts and late so called last ditch bolts. The early bolt handles are plum shaped and the later ones are cylindrical. The early safeties have the stylized chrysanthemums on the back to help manage the safety, the last ditch do not. Fit and function are about the same but last ditch type parts are a bit cheaper.

When I was in upstate NY, we would get Kerosene at the local gas station for about $5/gallon. Last I got it here I had to go to a farm supply and it was about $7/gallon.

This story is just fishy. Let me start by saying I hope Paul Pelosi does recover, these violent acts are disgusting. With that out of the way, how in hades was he able to break in through a sliding glass door without the layers of security noticing, or cameras that must be all over the place picking this up? It just doesn’t make any sense to me.

Not at all. Imagine you're camping but you like a hot water shower and 2 1/2 gallons would work. Garden hose fittings. I still have to install everything but there's an almost 80 foot run from my furnace to the master bath. I think I can mothball the oil burning furnace for that purpose and get by with 2 1/2 gallons water at 130 degree off a 110 line on a GFI. Camping supplies might be the new reality under JoeBama. I've had the wife confirm that 104 degrees is her 'perfect' shower temp. Mine is virtually the same. So it might be a five minute shower. No chance of filling a bathtub, but new reality is new reality.
