Before getting to that, Katie Hobbs the Abortion Mouse is currently the Secretary of State for Arizona, and what a bang-up job she's doing at it let me tell you.
Despite her campaign consisting of nothing but squeaking about abortion and insisting that she will not debate Kari Lake because she's an "election denier," because it's just insane to say that any election a Democrat wins (or, "wins") can ever be tainted by fraud or error, Katie Hobbs the Abortion Mouse is already shitting the bed in her own race. She sent out 6000 faulty absentee ballots, which told voters falsely that they were ineligible to vote in the state election. Her election. Gee, I wonder if these 6000 voters might have been Republicans.This week, under Hobbs' leadership, the AZ Department of State improperly marked roughly 6,000 voters as only being eligible to vote in federal races -- and at least 1,000 voters already received the wrong absentee ballot. In an official letter, Hobbs issued a statement on what she called "a federal only voter data error" that the secretary of state said was to blame for the ballot fumble: "My office found and corrected a database error in concert with the Motor Vehicle Division" that supposedly caused thousands of voters to be marked for absentee ballots that only had federal races rather than the full slate of elections, specifically excluding the race for governor -- in which Hobbs is running -- along with other state and local offices.But Abortion Mouse can't debate Kari Lake. Kari Lake says that not all elections are conducted without errors! Abortion Mouse says that she doesn't have to debate, because she can get her message out to the public, by interacting with leftwing reporters. Basically, Abortion Mouse is committed to extremely unpopular positions. She cannot endorse those positions without alienating moderate voters, and she cannot walk away from them, either, without alienating her extremist progressive base. So she just doesn't want to say anything. Abortion Mouse just wants to squeak squeak squeak meaningless platitudes from now until election day to carefully-screened progressive Democrat crowds with no questions allowed. The second is the overall trend of polling. As we saw in 2016 especially, even skewed polls can accurately show trend lines. If you are trending down less than three weeks before election day, you are in trouble.
Next, I look at what the campaigns are doing. Are they hiding from the press, throwing out wild attacks? Do they seem forced? Are they bringing in outsiders to shore them up?
Conversely, are they holding more rallies, reaching deeper into enemy territory? Are the supporters upbeat, confident, happy?
Finally, there's the yard sign thing. This is a bit esoteric, but when I see an incumbent's yard signs being used three to a lot or jammed into the right-of-way, that tells me that no one is picking up up and the campaign is desperate to get them out there.

Yes, the Detroit News, which is the right-leaning (allegedly) Detroit paper. I don't think media endorsements matter much, but in this case, Whitmer's campaign was largely based on 'othering' Dixon, saying she wasn't acceptable in polite company, an extremist beneath notice, etc.
Basically the same thing Hobbs is doing to Lake. The News endorsing Dixon makes her more respectable, a legitimate choice.
Whitmer has outspent Dixon by 20 to 1 or more, and has been running negative ads on her since July. A lot of Whitmer's support in polls was because people thought Dixon was a lunatic. As they get to know her and see she's reasonable and smart, Whitmer's losing support bigly.

Even then, Oz is not exactly running away with the race. I think Lake wins by 5, but it is troubling that it's even that close.

I'm fuzzy on the details is why I didn't post more info, but I remember Parnell said something about not wanting his kids dragged through this, there was a pretty intense custody battle going on.
End of the day, they got to his kids and he wasn't willing to walk away from them to run for Senate.
Without knowing more about it, I don't have a problem with him making that choice.

The guy admires Lurch's 'steadfastness' in 'soldiering on' with the campaign. The guy won't come out and say that he's not fit for office.
Oh, and the host (Joe Mathieu) didn't mention that that doctor was a campaign donor.

She's a pretty lady too, and she has a nice gentle, persuasive, steady and rational approach that seems to cut through most of her opponent's lunacy.
I do not know if that attitude of "6-6-6 and I'm a 10" is universal or even the majority of young women but damn there are a lot out there.

I'm not sure the court should be so stingy with this kind of relief. The Fifth Circuit finally declared the CFPB unconstitutional (as it is funded) recently, after it's been around how many years? Does that undo whatever harm it's managed to do in the interim? And it'll be that much longer before the Supremes weigh in, if they do.
Now apply that kind of glacial timetable to student loan forgiveness, which the Feds will be trying to strongarm loanholders into accepting. If the Feds are successful even in part, how do you unwind that? Can you? And should loanholders have to live years of uncertainty?
I understand that the courts move slowly. But there's slow and then there's what currently happens. At some point, the slowness engenders a certain amount of acquiescence all on its own. Status quo orders for policies that have facial problems should not be an impossible ask. And if they are, the law should be changed.

Burt, take a look at SQQQ. Its a reverse ETF that goes up when the NASDAQ 100 goes down. I don't see things getting any better so having a straddle on the long positions you own will make sitting through 2 years of Biden Pen and Phone tolerable. Or you can do what I do and become a full bear and own nothing but shorts. I'm either in the market short or I'm in cash. Too many ways for District of Chaz and Manhattan to hurt a person to be long anything.

I'm thinking it was someone at National Review at the time, or similar. Someone who wormed their way into a position of conservative power, then put out claims that he, too, should be worthy of conservative power. Then Trump hit like a Category-5, and they all scattered and showed their true selves.

Honestly, I wonder how many democrats are the same. How hard was it for Tulsi Gabbard to leave the party she was in? Was it the grifters on the left side that finally made her give up the (D)? And related to that, the (R) side years ago had Jumpin' Jim Jeffords. I had to go searching to see it was all the way back in 2001 that he left. Right when W was president.
