33 Sydney Watson had an interesting saga recently. She got the middle seat on an American Airlines flight and both people on either side of her were very large. She tweeted about her experience and even tagged American Airlines. AA's Twitter people gave her a somewhat snarky reply about how their customers come in all shapes and sizes.

https://bit.ly/3TtnzRa

I guess AA re-thought the whole thing, and decided to compensate Sydney $150. They probably realized it was bad publicity and that their very own policy says really big people are supposed to buy two seats.

That sounds like a nice way to turn a guy down. I've seen much worse. I once witnessed a young lady say to a guy, "With you?" Then she continued with a derisive snort and peals of laughter.

I never experienced anything as rough as that, but I was turned down flatly a few times.

84 I remember seeing some article about one of those animal bridges a few years back. Think it was in GB or maybe Germany. Apparently turtles were getting run over after a new roadway went in, so they decided to spend millions on this new turtle overpass.

Sadly, the turtles being out in the open on this wide-open overpass made them an easy meal for birds. Population dwindled. Other animals avoided the bridge entirely and were getting run over in record numbers because the cars couldn't see them nearly as easily as the tunnels were blocking their vision. The bridge was torn down like 2 years later.

I'm from the government and I'm here to...

169 I survived the Great Blizzard of 1978. Spent four days holed up in a motel outside of Wapakoneta, Ohio, birthplace of Neil Armstrong. Thankfully, there was a well-stocked bar.

The Great Blizzard of 1978 was a historic winter storm that struck the Ohio Valley and Great Lakes regions of the United States as well as Southern Ontario in Canada from Wednesday, January 25 through Friday, January 27, 1978. It is often cited as one of the most severe blizzards in US history. The third lowest non-tropical atmospheric pressure ever recorded in the mainland United States occurred as the storm passed over Mount Clemens, Michigan, where barometer readings fell to 956.0 mb (28.23 inHg) on January 26.

As their numbers increase, stories of them tracking or treeing people have popped up over the last several years. Hearing them howling in the mountains as the sun rises and seeing their paw prints up close (as big as your hand) is pretty spooky.

245 ||The NHL has released a “diversity report.” In response, both the league and the Associated Press have determined that white people should stop playing hockey or working in hockey.

The report found that 83.6% of the NHL’s staff and the staff of the league’s teams are white. The league’s rosters are 90% white. The report also found that 62% of staff are men — far more balanced than the league’s rosters, which are made up entirely of men.||

250 ||Justice Department prosecutors in the Mar-a-Lago raid case believe they have enough evidence to charge former President Donald Trump with obstruction of justice, according to a new report.

The team of prosecutors “believe there is sufficient evidence” to charge Trump for obstruction, according to “people familiar with the matter” cited by Bloomberg, but the outlet said that “the path to an actual indictment is far from clear.” The outlet said the DOJ group “has not yet made a formal recommendation” to Attorney General Merrick Garland and that their sources said it is “also unlikely officials would bring only obstruction charges amid several other Trump investigations into potential crimes.” The outlet said charges are unlikely to be filed or revealed prior to the November midterm elections.||

252 Oh, the regional director of the bureau of reclamation wants to tell the governor of Arizona what to do in his state?

The unauthorized placement of those containers constitutes a violation of federal law and is a trespass against the United States,” Jacklynn Gould, a regional director for the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation, told Arizona Homeland Security Director Tim Roemer and Arizona Division of Emergency Management Director Allen Clark in the missive.

“That trespass is harming federal lands and resources and impeding Reclamation’s ability to perform its mission.”

She asked officials to not place any additional shipping containers on federal lands or lands within the boundaries of Indian reservations, and said federal officials want to “discuss a way forward and requests your cooperation in the removal of the containers.”

279 Where were you people in 1993?
1993 Storm of the Century:
:Record cold temperatures were seen across portions of the Southern United States and Eastern United States in the wake of this storm. In the United States, the storm was responsible for the loss of electric power to more than 10 million households. An estimated 40 percent of the country's population experienced the effects of the storm[5] with a total of 208 fatalities.[1] In all, the storm killed 318 people, and caused $5.5 billion (1993 USD) in damages.

The greatest recorded snowfall amounts were at Mount Le Conte in Tennessee, where 56 inches (140 cm) of snow fell, and Mount Mitchell in North Carolina, the tallest mountain in eastern North America, where 50 inches (130 cm) were measured to fall and 15-foot (4.6 m) snow drifts were reported.[6]" https://tinyurl.com/qxar7dm
