Cuddly Baby Elephants Cafe

zenbeauty.jpg

You eat first, buddy.

Duck curling.

Compliation of some sick purr-kour moves. The part with the Rubik's cube starting at 0:25 is unexpected, especially from a cat.

Eagle vs. Crab. Winner: Crab, and it's not even close. The top video is the original. The second is a zoomed in version, in case you can't see what's going on in the first one.

German shepherd keeps vigil over a grate over a street's storm drain until people notice what he's doing. He had a good reason to try to get humans' attention.
Moose strolling along highway divider.

This was me today.

Dog gives a hug to his friend.

Little dog isn't going to let anyone bully him out of his dog-bed.

Baby elephant playing with his caretaker.

This baby elephant doesn't know her own weight.

23 On the dog and the grate -

One day I had let my cat out on the porch to sniff the air when I lived in suburban IL and I came in to see her with her head under the sofa. I pulled her out and she went back in. To 'prove' nothing was there I lifted it up with one arm and there was a big toad under it and she went after it so now I am holding a sofa up with one hand and trying to catch a determined cat and toad with the other hand.

I managed to sort it out hand give mister toad a chance to hop off.

34 I had an interesting day today, Know how I keep saying that the folks moving to the red states are conservatives?

Young guy showed up with an older guy to fix my furnace. They also did plumbing which was great since the toilet decided to back up. The young guy had a full neck tattoo and was talkative. I learned that he was from Turlock, CA (a town I used to live in.) When he had a little more time, he told me that he'd also moved here so he could buy a house outright. His house needs work too. Both he and his wife are in their 30s with three kids, ages 8, 6 and 5. In California, he was working up to five jobs and his wife had to work too. They missed out on a lot of the 8 year old daughter's early years and Mom wanted to be able to stay home with the kids. So they moved here to Northern Kansas.

It's not paradise and they will have to keep the kids out of Hays, where the college is. But they will have a chance at a real life, with parents that are part of it. They don't homeschool the kids, but I haven't seen a lot of signs of wokeness. And he thought, given the economy, that he needed to own the roof over their heads. The plains can use more people.

Well, I resisted the temptation to hate-watch (also I'm a luddite who doesn't stream content), but from what I've read and seen in clips I can only say: Why? What real purpose did they serve other than to try to tie back hobbits in an attempt to ride the coat tails of better films? They shouldn't have been featured in good stories surrounding that age as they exist as only a footnote in the source. Not a fan.

Well there's no reason to start now since they did it all wrong, including that crap Monty Python mocked in the constitutional peasants sketch of having them all in dirty clothes, unkempt hair and twigs and crap in the hair as decoration.

If people have figured out how to sew any sort of clothes they are going to find ways to make them look good, much less weaving and knitting and crochet and other tools.

One of my favorite things was the very old street-car that's been turned into the "train" to Arashiyama. Japan doesn't seem to dispose of rolling stock very lightly.

Nagasaki has great 1950s/60s streetcars - they have the history of their original service in other cities written up on plaques inside. And once took the train from Hiroshima to Kure - could barely sit in the seat. It was an old car with wooden seats - built for people average height 5'7" or something. And there was the single car electric train outside Fukuoka, rural service, the old ladies didn't bother to pay for their rides.

98 One of my favorite tidbits was reading years ago why hippies stink like patchouli.

It's mothballs. Patchouli was what the traders used to stink up luxury goods with to prevent insects from feeding on the fine garments, and people couldn't afford the garments but could afford to smell like the mothballs that they packed the garments in. So they began wearing the mothball scent as a perfume, because it was associated with wealth. Except it was just mothballs.

And people still wear those mothballs to this day.

Those are fantastic but I'd wait and see what the ATF is going to do with the brace issue after December. It looks like they're likely to declare all of those braced pistols SBRs and illegal and demand you request amnesty for your crime of purchasing a legal product and file the appropriate paperwork / tax stamp, destroy it, or attach a 16" barrel.

204 King Harv's "corporate entity" had several funny and pleasant exchanges with Sarah Hoyt, having to do with the naming of their blends, and she endorsed them.

Actual King Harv (a USAF veteran, father of the shopkeeper) passed away a few weeks ago. They sent out a great tribute to him to their customer list.

They're expensive and very good. Smart business, they maintain personal contact with regulars, not just e-mail ads. Kind of fun to do business with.

I asked him to spell the word. He responded, "Oh Ah Ell. Ohl."

Then he made fun of me pronouncing it "Oy-yell."

I miss my Army buddies. They were like frat bros for a guy who never went to college.
