The Quotes of The Day

Quote I

‘I can’t challenge this madness in my desk job, designing bridges, so I’m taking direct action, occupying the QEII bridge until the government stops all new oil.’ Morgan Trowland

There are ways to move the juvenile delinquents.

Quote II

“I’m going to college to get an education and to learn how to be an adult. Point Park University doesn’t see that as their role.” Campus Reform Senior Correspondent Logan Dubil

Quote III

You can believe in a border without being a racist. You can believe in the country without being a racist. And this just shows how desperate this guy is for political power. I know you’ve been in office for 20 years Tim, and I know it’s a sweet gig, but you’re so desperate not to have a real job that you’ll slander me and slander my family. It’s disgraceful. Ohio Republican Senate Candidate JD Vance.

Quote IV

‘George Floyd’s daughter is being traumatised by Kanye West’s comments and he’s creating an unsafe and unhealthy environment for her.’ Nuru Witherspoon, a partner at The Witherspoon Law Group

The good old contingency fee law suit. Throw enough shit at the wall and the defendant will throw in some money as "Nuisance value". St. George should have thought about his daughter before breaking the law under the influence.

The government of Australia has you covered if the Kung Flu prick kills you. Isn't that comforting.

Yes folks, I checked, and this is about as real as it gets.

In just over a year, we've gone from "safe and effective" to "yeah, I guess we'll pay for your funeral if the mandatory shot kills you."

And look, I know I'm supposed to be funny here, and this website is known for its hilarity, but let's be honest: THIS IS ABSOLUTELY TERRIFYING!

Like, I want to joke about this — I really do.

But I can't.

There are human lives at risk here, and all Australia is offering to do for these mandatory-jabbed people is to pay some of the funeral costs.

Well that certainly was a shitty thing to do to this fine upstanding politician.

‘Defund the police’ councilwoman wants Seattle officers to protect her home after human excrement gets hurled her way

Are your loved ones outside of your home using your Netflix subscription and password? Netflix wants to change that.

Netflix plans to crack down on password sharing beginning in 2023. After giving users the ability to transfer their profiles to new accounts, the streamer says it will start letting subscribers create sub-accounts starting next year in line with its plans to “monetize account sharing” more widely.

This is part of Netflix’s earning results today, which says the company added 2.4 million subscribers this quarter as the streaming service looks to launch its ad-supported tier next month and clamp down on password sharing. The streamer says it has grown by 104,000 paid subscribers in the US and Canada over the last three months, up from 73,000 in the same period last year, and says it remains committed to the “bingeable release model.”

I don't follow NASCAR but this whiny little jackass sure makes the news.

Calls Grow For McDonald’s To Drop Sponsorship Of Bubba Wallace: ‘He Needs To Be Removed From The Sport’

NASCAR driver Bubba Wallace faced intense backlash over the weekend after violently attacking another driver following a crash he was accused of intentionally causing.

The incident happened during Stage 2 of the South Point 400 at Las Vegas Motor Speedway when Wallace, who won Stage 1, was next to driver Kyle Larson when Larson attempted a three-wide pass.

No word if Kyle Larson was responsible for the noose found at Bubba's garage door.

Virtue signaling does come with a cost. In this case a $300,000 price tag. YMMV.

Cadillac's new $300,000 electric car comes with 5 screens, futuristic looks, and 300 miles of range — see the Celestiq

Cadillac pulled the wraps off of the Celestiq, its new super high-end electric vehicle.

The long, low sedan will start at around $300,000 and each will be hand-built to customer preferences.

It promises a range of 300 miles. Production starts next year.

Keep your eyes on the road and the gas battery gauge.

Tonight's history lesson regarding the final years of the slave trade.

What a Spanish Shipwreck Reveals About the Final Years of the Slave Trade
Forty-one of the 561 enslaved Africans on board the “Guerrero” died when the illegal slave ship sank off the Florida Keys in 1827

The Guerrero had made it all the way from Nigeria to the Bahamas. A Spanish slave ship bound for Cuba, it was veering south toward Havana when an English antislavery schooner, the Nimble, spotted its sail on December 17, 1827. The two ships were locked in a deadly game of cat and mouse. The Nimble was armed with 8 cannons, but the far more heavily powered Guerrero’s 14 guns could have blown the English patrol ship sky-high with a single broadside. The slaver’s captain preferred not to risk losing the payday his precious human cargo promised

The nail polish clashed with the cowboy hat. Genius Award Winner.

MEDLEY, Fla. – A South Florida man is facing three felony charges after police accused him of attacking a woman with a machete because she didn’t have a crack pipe.

Miami-Dade police arrested 45-year-old Roberto Hercules in Hialeah Friday.

According to an arrest report, Hercules was “completely naked,” wearing nothing but painted nails and a cowboy hat when he attacked the victim at Northwest 74th Street and South River Drive in Medley last Tuesday.

KID'S REACTION TO HARVESTING FIRST BUCK IS PRICELESS Tonight's Feel Good Story of The Day.

Eventually, the other animals near the deer clear out and the buck gives Zeke the shot opportunity he's been waiting for. After a perfect heart shot, the buck barely makes it out of the field of view. The young man's reaction is perfectly understandable by anyone who remembers that moment when they realize they just downed their first deer. The enthusiasm is infectious!

Sure, she's an idiot. And spoiled. And woke. And entitled.

What I find interesting is that someone could be so clueless. If she looked at all, she'd see she was universally hated. No one likes her. She comes off horribly.

Yet she doubles and triples down on the same stuff that makes everyone hate her.

I'm curious how people can be so oblivious. The proper answer to her problem is to go away. Stop making news. Stop being everywhere. Give people time to forget how much of an asshole you are.

Then come back and don't be an asshole.

But apparently that takes self assessment skills.

81 Markle is interesting to me. As a thought project.

106 Well, perhaps off-topic, but perhaps my human experience is for once helpful to The Kid. The room-mate of her childhood friend was pulled into a car and for-real forcibly raped 2 days ago, in 'Blue City'.
I'm withholding comment on this until I get more information, but as far as I can tell this isn't Date Rape it's Stranger Rape.
So, in stressful situations, I go for normalcy and talk about the house cats.
The Kid is very freaked out and trying to help her friends, but understandably isn't thrilled with any direct input by me personally.
I will state, for the record, that I suck at everyday life.
Stressful situations?
That's where I feel normal.

How long have you had the rescue goth kitty? I can help you resocialize them to make it a little less stressful for old kitty who thinks goth kitties should get off his lawn. But if it’s been months and months, you could try it, but it may not be entirely successful. It will be 2 weeks of not fun for you, and goth kitty has to go live in a room where old kitty can start to just sniff under the door for a few days and then maybe peek at each other a few days, and then slowly let old kitty smell a blanket goth kitty used and after 2 weeks, it won’t be snuggles on the bed, but maybe less bad language being used.

Otherwise, just outfit your entire house with kitty climbing shelves and car trees so they can each get up to high places. Problem solved. You are welcome. 😂

150 With regards to the NASCAR issue; fighting amongst the drivers was, at a time, a staple of the sport. Intentionally wrecking another driver happened.... occasionally. Having a little experience with auto racing myself I'll just say this; using your vehicle as an instrument of retribution is probably the most off the hook thing one can do. In (most) auto racing sports such action would normally get you canned. For life.

In NASCAR it doesn't. I won't debate why that is. In the case of Bubba Wallace, the sports sole black driver and Kyle Larson who was banished from the series for a year or two for using the "N" word in a sim-racing game online I think it'll be interesting to see how it plays out.

More than likely Bubba Wallace will get penalized with points... which will reduce his earnings and likely be fined some amount of money that his team's co-owner, Michael Jorden can absorb with out blinking an eye.

NASCAR's history on fines, points and other penalties for this sort of thing over the last 2-3 decades is spotty. There's no rhyme or reason to it.

Whatever the outcome, there will be bitching and moaning.

Yes, a little. I think psychopaths can best be described as having no conscience, they don't feel guilt or shame. If one was driving with a body in the trunk and was pulled over, their heart rate would not increase, no sweaty palms.
Psychopaths can mimic emotions. I think they feel rage and jealousy.

I have a sad experience with this. There are a few problems
- they never get fired or laid off, so they slowly deteriorate in attitude, competence, training and relevance.
- People in other industries do get laid off and fired, and the really bad ones switch professions (and hopefully thrive) *or* go to work for the state where they are safe.
- The incentives are always all wrong. (From what I hear and from what I saw in a few guys I hired in DC) in those highly regulated cost plus organizations, you do not get glamour from good practices and design. You get glamour from fighting fires. Promotions, overtime, expense account trips to address field issues, etc. So the incentive is to find problems with other people's work.

315 I swear to God, if I read or hear the phrase or word 'sad' one more fucking time you all deserve what you get.
It's not fucking well 'sad', oh you're 'sad' about an obvious criminal violation? It's a passive word.
I despise this word and the people who use it.
When I was teaching stupid White Women would use it.
"Oh, these children's lives are so sad!"
Stop using it.
It denies agency.
"That woman was violently raped! That's so sad!"
It implies it's some act of Nature and it's not.

316 Psychiatry is all about putting people in to categories. If you see one, they *will* find something wrong with you, and write about it in a paper. Maybe get a prize for the new category you occupy all by yourself.

My opinion originates from a psychiatrist.

365 It looks like the demonstrators are in hammocks high up above the road surface of the bridge. You can't use water cannons because if you knock them down, they might die and that means way too much paperwork.

Of course, they are perfectly capable of getting down themselves: you just need to make them want to come down. A small, manoeuverable helicopter that can get close enough for someone to spray a pint or two of horse-piss on each one should do the job. (Aim for their faces.) Have a water-cannon (loaded with water) available down below for a quick clean-up before they're taken to jail (or gaol, since it's Britain).

If that doesn't work, escalate to dog-shit on day 2, pig-shit on day 3. You'll have to pay the helicopter pilot and the sprayer a bit extra, but probably not all that much, since the job will be so thoroughly enjoyable in every way except the smell.

Jail (gaol) them for one month per day of bridge blockage, rounded up: if they're up there for 24 hours and 5 minutes, that's 2 months. Also, calculate the monetary value of the lost time of all the people delayed, and make these 'demonstrators' and every member of their organization, pay every penny of it.

378 An "assault shotgun shell" would be when you take a sharp knife, and cut about 80% of the way through the thickness of the plastic hull, carving a "V" ring around it, right at the division of the shot-cup over the wad-cushioning tower.

Entire shot-filled area of the shell, encased in hull, emerges from the barrel, much in the manner of a slug. But when it hits tissue, it bursts as if it was a cannon shell, with (usually) all the pellets entering the wound and affecting tissue. Bonus, the hull and shot cup go along for the ride, and those are dirty, filthy, gunsmoke and gunpowder fouled bits of shrapnel, sure to complicate the injury in all manner of ways.

Use such a shell, and YOU are going to jail. Oh, yes you are!

This crap has done an unbelievable amount of damage to the medical industry's credibility. The reality of how little they knew about the stuff they were pushing is spilling out, one leak or testimony at a time, and by the time it's done no sane person will have reason to trust them even when they really should.

394 AOP, before Covid the rise in incidents of Autism and food allergies were considered "one of those things" and the multiple shots were considered just one of those things as well. No one was thinking there might be a link of any type.

And yet the pharma companies make bank off of them and insisted on being held harmless for any side effect or injury caused by them

I have been lied to for 31 months by people who stood to profit and hide what they had been up to. This included my father being put into solitary confinement for the crime of being old and bedridden and where the only blessing was that he was on the ground floor so I could look at him through the window while I talked to him on the phone. Which I did daily.

I am out of compassion and out of trust, and nearly at the point of just wanting victims without considering anything other than the suffering they caused. I am done with knee jerk reactions about how this or that is self evident since it was also self evident that wearing a bandanna and keeping old sick men in isolation saved lives. The victim blaming that went on was insane, and it is still going on.

Not a vitim here but a medical curiosity.

When Congress gave Pharma immunity for vaccines (that were on the approved childhood schedule), both VAERS and the VICP program were created. VICP, Vaccine Injury Compensation Program, adjudicates claims of vaccine injury. It sets a pretty high bar of proof, but over the past 10 years or so, it's been paying out at around $200M per year.

Since inception in '89, it has paid a total of $4.9B out as of FY 2022. Here's the latest report, and you can see all the details:

By Jove, they did a good job and called us thinking we had left Jo in the hotel room. We had a good laugh, knowing they would have laughed as well.

Dunno. However, and perhaps I’m mistaken, why do drug companies have complete immunity if a vaccine fucks a kid, or adult, up? That is, it ends up on the childhood schedule.

I mean these Pharma companies are real pieces of shit. Pfizer to date has the largest fine ever levied on a company. They don’t give a fuck if a product kills or harms people, price of doing business.

I was never “anti-vax” but I was deeply disturbed by the amount of shit they pump into a newborn. Seems like a lot for someone that just popped out.

But I can damn sure put some walls, structure and finish straight, down to the fine tile and trim.

Frankly, contractors aren't as bad as they're made out to be, they can't work at a loss, and the process is far costlier than most might imagine. But it can sure help though when someone sees a plight and cuts a break. Not down to a loss (unless they're that charitable), but not every job has to show the typical margins, either.

But there's a non-binary character, so that makes the show ImPoRTaNT.
Posted by: bonhomme at October 18, 2022 11:08 PM (i0wNm)

Good and bad. Hate the "non-binary" character; just had to throw one in there, didn't they?
Monday's episode: Why didn't he get the 1879 townsfolk together, shoot the bastards dead by ambush? No, they had to capture the bad guy and his men ALIVE because Ben (the leaper) is a pacifist... Seemed stupid and extra risky.
BUT at the end of the episode, theres appears to be another leaper there who calls out Ben by name and year. And the black guy that runs the program was "possessed" by Sam in the original series when Sam saved his bro in Vietnam (previous episode).
I liked how they tied this show and the original together, including stuff that was in a teaser for a continuation of the orgininal series with Sam's friend Al trying to find him.

Reading, food allergies across the board, and allergies in general have been increasing over the last three decades.

What's going on is complex, and there are several theories about it. It's probably a combination of several "root causes".

First world countries have more allergies than 3rd world. And urban children get more allergies that rural. This supports the "hygiene hypothesis". Another one is Vitamin D. Children aren't playing outside as much as they used to, and their vit D levels are lower. This is being investigated. The rural vs urban thing would be in line with this as well.

Just be sure you have adequate ventilation if you use any fuel-burning heater. They may not emit carbon monoxide, if running properly, but they still consume oxygen. And if they consume enough oxygen from a confined space, they will begin to emit carbon monoxide.

Another lie they told is vegetable oils are healthier than animal fats. That is pretty much utter bullshit. It's only through modern processing technology that we can get enough of this to consume in sufficient quanities.

Carver did not invent peanut butter. The original inventor was a Canadian. Carver was late to that party. Even Wikipedia has that! Teaching that Carver invented PB is an attempt to make a Black man contribute to inventions but I'm sure there are better and actual examples out there, just not PB.

Dude who was putting in the gas line for our range stopped about 1/4 of the way through to go thaw somebody's exploded pipe and didn't come back. Now we are scheduled to wait another week. Without a stove. So, I brought in the Coleman and use that instead. While I do crack the kitchen window, there's nothing wrong with propane cooking. Propane is how you cook in the hinterlands where you have a nice tank outside.

Or maybe we will all wake up dead.

Dingbat at work claims she is allergic to any scents. She brings her own hand sanitizer to wash hands since she says she can't use the soap. She says she is deathly allergic to anything made with coconut, including natural soaps. No idea how she "knows" that, but there ya go.

The Spoonies subscribe to Spoon Theory...

Each day they are allotted a set number of virtual "spoons" that they can spend like money for their daily rituals...

If say, one has only four spoons for the day, getting out of bed might cost one spoon, taking a piss costs one spoon, then crawling back into bed costs yet another spoon... He has one spoon left for the rest of the day, which he can use, perhaps, to post online about how horrible his day has been... Taking a shit may cost two[/] (2) spoons, then no posting and it's yet another entire day confined to bed!

643 Oh, it's barely 2 AM. I rarely talk about this, but I had a friend in Chicago, we'll call him D. He was the nicest guy, he was like a Golden Retriever puppy. He just loved life. Jewish kid from a Crazy Wealthy family on Chicago's North Shore. I didn't like him, he was like some cartoon, but I really enjoyed talking to him about cars, and he liked playing music.
His wealthy-ass family hated what he was doing.
His girlfriend was this stringy-haired girl, super quiet, she had snakes in glass boxes, I honestly desperately tried to not like the guy but he grew on me.

649 >> you've got objective signs and symptoms...

Yep. I pass every objective test with flying colors. The tests are getting better and better. I pass them all. But nonetheless, there are still those who show the signs and symptoms of RA, but do not test positive.

And then going the other way, there are those will pass all the tests as positive for RA, but yet show no symptoms (yet). That anomaly is getting smaller and smaller as the tests and understanding get better, but it's still non-zero.

My right knee is shot, bone on bone. I was at a doc's office, the orthopedic surgeon. I got a cortisone (equivalent) shot he offered -- it helped for a few weeks, damped the pain. I asked if he wanted to X-ray it.

Nope, he said, it's shot. The last X-ray showed it was completely shot, no need to X-ray any more. It don't get any worse. I'm gonna get the right knee replace -- had the left knee replaced -- soon, but I've got other things going on.

Surgeon told me he's seen many a patient with less damage to the knee than I'm showing that say they can't go on. But yet you're going on. It varies, as they say.

I worked in a hospital for several years, and the chronic malingerers, the "hospital hobos" fascinated me for some reason...

There was one well known one, they called "Leather Ass" who'd pop in from time to time for a stay of several weeks each...

Oh, she had real illnesses, sure enough, and alcoholism, but that's not why she was there... This woman's belly looked like a road map of New Jersey with literally dozens of surgical scars she'd acquired over the years -- most, if not all of them from unnecessary operations that she'd conned the physicians into doing, and she was a professional at that!

IMAO, that's the one of the big problems, among many, with 404Care: Cookie cutter medicine. Every patient is different, every person has different levels of pain they can tolerate, every illness affects different people in a different manner. But according to Big Government, cookie cutter medicine is the way to go. And they'd take away a physician's license to practice if one is not on board with the program. Just look at the doctors who have had their lives ruined by Big Government for not going along with the clot shot mandates.

"Leather Ass" earned her nickname from having got so many hypodermic injections in her buttocks that caused so much scarring over time that the nurses literally could not and did not give her injections there any more!

And she was a total pain the arse during her entire stay, never slept, was on the call bell button 24 hours a day: the nurses would do one thing for her, and Leather Ass would hit the button again before they'd got back out of the room...

That's how got to know her -- the nurses would have me answer some of her frequent calls for the bed pan, drugs, water, more blankets, etc. so they could take a break...

I had my left knee replaced in late 2019 -- Coof shit started on the tail end of that. Surgeon was worried I would not get good range of motion. "Flexion contracture" was pretty bad. But I did the PT full on. Miley made sure of that. I got damn good results. Surgeon was impressed.

Funny thing. At the time, my right knee was "100% shot". But my left knee was only "95% shot" or so. Both knees met the approved criteria for full replacement by a long shot. Objective evidence said right knee was the worst, so I should go with that. Surgeon said, while it's been done, don't got with a double knee replacement at the same time. "Trust me, son, you don't want to do that!".

The left knee was more painful to me than the right, even though the X-rays showed it was less bad, although still shot, than the right. Surgeon didn't argue one bit, said, whichever you want, I ain't gonna argue.

There's a subjective element to this, guided by an objective envelope, you might say.
