We had a big armadillo try to tunnel under our house. I walked out the back door and saw a big pile of dirt it had thrown out. It was too far down in the hole for the dogs to get, but they were going nuts. I had reach down there and drag it out by the tail, and it did not want to come out. Using inductive logic, the chances of extremely complex things being designed intelligently is much, much higher and much more rational than "it just ended up that way by chance".
We talk about how bad human caused global warming is about being non falsifiable because they always find a way to argue that this is yet another example of global warming: Its cold, its hot, its rainy, its dry, there are a lot of hurricanes, there are few hurricanes, no matter what the data, that's evidence of global warming. Because the entire system is designed to give you that result. Darwinian Evolution is the same way: no matter what the data, no matter what is discovered, its somehow proof that Darwinian Evolution is correct. Which leads me to wonder; what possible information or evidence would be required to show that it is not correct? Or is it even possible to find any such thing? Because if you cannot ever even imagine something that refutes your scientific theory, that's not terribly scientific. If its irrefutable, as in not possible to refute through data and research, is it really science or just faith? Posted by: Christopher R Taylor at October 13, 2022 07:52 PM (Ivdso) 63

XR for chronic low back pain is frowned upon now. Exceptionally rare to see anything that changes management.
Acute traumatic back pain should get a CT scan. If you get an XR and see a fracture, you get a ct. if you don't see a fracture, you still get a ct because XR sucks at seeing vertebral fractures. New or worse radiculopathy gets a CT. It is almost as good as MRI. TL ![]() Posted by: Cat Ass Trophy, Christian Nationalist, Defiant! at October 13, 2022 09:21 PM (TiGPW) 249

It's impossible to know which stories to trust out of the Ukraine fiasco, but when Russia makes public admissions against interest, it's a good bet something serious just happened. So Ukraine is trying to take Kherson, a city which controls the northern access to Crimea. It's been hard to know the status of this drive - but Al Jazeera today reports that the governor of Kherson, backed by Moscow, has now called on all Russian civilians to evacuate Kherson for safer areas south. Other reports say Ukrainian formations are now within 12 miles of Kherson. Kinda sounds like the Russians are getting worried about holding it.

BUT I watch it because I enjoy watching real world strategy and tactics, and both sides are making some interesting tactical moves, acting, countering, and then reacting. (You have to search out translations of eastern Euro and Russian language blogs to find out about it.) It really is a 21st century war; the tactics used in the 20th century by everyone don't work anymore, so both sides are improvising. Posted by: Tom Servo at October 13, 2022 09:41 PM (r46W7) 291

I have a bag of popcorn on standby, for when the left does their 180 degree turn *against* Ukraine.
And they'll gaslight it all the way, claiming we were the Uke supporters, and they were counseling restraint all along the way. Kind of how they're trying to hang "defund the police" around our necks, even now. Kipling will end up being proven right, just as soon as we enjoy the Rectification of Names. Soon, please. Even more disappointing than corrupt politicians is the press who have a gold mine of potential award winning exposes on corruption in hundreds of politicians in both parties, but instead spend time on the dry well of Trump corruption. Mostly because they are being spoonfed rumors and innuendo from the corrupt permanent bureaucracy. Our press is contemptible.
