The US government, not satisfied with wasting money on "clean hydrogen", wants to ruin open source software.

I tried electrolyzing water once in my blissfully ignurnt youth. It was working, too, until I bumped the water pail, causing one of the inverted drinking glasses to fall over and then the short circuit from the bared ends of the extension cord I had pressed into service for the electrodes tripped our basement's circuit breaker. "What are you kids doing down there?" "Oh, nothing, Mom!" Posted by: Krebs v Carnot: Epic Battle of the Cycling Stars at September 24, 2022 04:37 AM (pNxlR) 10
Well, sure. If everyone drove on the same side of the road it would be dangerous.

The Department of Energy has a new ‘roadmap’ for building up a ‘clean’ hydrogen industry I guess they figure their never ending nuclear fusion boondoggle needs a serious competitor in the "which program can immolate funding fastest" sweepstakes. Staring at the red and blue atom scans in that superconductor story. The lines wobble. Maybe that's normal, maybe I need to get to sleep, and/or both.

I remember in high school when we made some hydrogen using electrolysis, - we blew up some stuff, set some stuff on fire and then they made us quit.

Disclaimer: So I'm a tech blogger, so what?
Posted by: Pixy Misa at 04:57 AM Everyone has at least one excuse. I keep a couple of extras in my pocket for emergencies. *********** So. Green hydrogen is a myth? The SLS is still sitting on the ground because H2 is soooo easy to work with. It's a good thing NASA has only blown about $50 billion on it so far, with ZERO launches. From the hydrogen article...
"When hydrogen is made with excess wind and solar energy, it also serves as a kind of "energy storage" similar to a battery, so that abundant renewable power doesn't go to waste when electricity demand is low." Now that's some first rate scienceing going on there. Posted by: Bruce at September 24, 2022 05:54 AM (vd8XM) 37

Always love the hype of solar highways. It seem such a great idea (by the media) that a few short sections were built in France (I believe). One was a bicycle path. It seems no one in authority ever used an engineer to tell him or her is would be a failed idea. Just a fantasize thinking in someones mind. Gee, charging a EV off the highway would be great. The old Popular Mechanics magazine of the 1950-60's were full of crazy ideas for teenage boys to read.
