It's A Bird! It's A Plane! It's An ONT!

Welcome to the Thursday ONT! How has everyone's week been?

Arguments.jpg

How was your week? I had a run in with the cops. I was walking around the town square here in Tyler, holding a sign that said “The President is an idiot!”. A couple of cops came up to me and told me I couldn't do that.

“What happened to free speech?” I asked.

“C'mon buddy, don't give us a hard time” they said.

“But I'm talking about President Putin” I protested.

They both laughed. “Who do you think you're kidding? We all know who the idiot is”

Thankfully they let me off with a warning.

Speaking Of Cops

I think there's a Santa Rosa County in both California and Florida. Pretty sure this is from the Florida one.

I Get My Kicks Above The Waistline, Sunshine

Ace stole my content and put it in the side bar. Oh well, here it is anyway.

Huge chess world upset of grandmaster sparks wild claims of cheating — with vibrating sex toy

So, near as I can figure, the lowest ranked player in a tournament beat the highest ranked player, and accusations started flying that he must have cheated. I've seen no proof of this, no evidence that he did cheat, but the internet took it and ran with it. The current version is that he cheated by (no, I'm not making this up)...wearing? Inserting? Having?...a set of radio controlled anal beads that someone presumably used to signal what moves to make. I'm not even sure how that would work. Morse code? One buzz for the pawn, 3 for the Bishop and a full on prostate orgasm for the queen? No idea. Hey, sometimes the better player doesn't win in chess. Until I see proof (eww), I'm going to assume that the victory was something he just pulled out of his ass.

Those Who Worship Evil's Might

Understanding the Era of Woke Comic Books

I usually leave the comic book stuff to Ace, he's more interested in it than I am, and he's very good at teasing out the subtleties of the issue, but there's an aspect of the whole thing that I think gets overlooked. Without overstating their importance too much, comic book heroes are an American mythology. Heroes, while still demonstrating human foibles and weaknesses, are an idealized version of ourselves, and as such are a cultural touchstone for shared American values. Superman, Batman and Spiderman fill the same cultural niche for traditional American society as Achilles, Bophades or Hector did for the ancient Greeks. And while all of the factors that Ace likes to highlight do indeed have a great deal of bearing on the wokeization of comics, let's not forget what's at the bottom of it all. The left desires to destroy western civilization so they can replace it with a communist utopia. Destroying our myths and legends is part of that effort.

On The Pa. Senate Race

Ann Coulter: Fetterman’s Murderous Campaign Aides: How It Really Happened

So, anyone in the know have any good dope on how this race is going? I think Trump was a fool to endorse Dr. Oz, surely there was someone who would promise sufficient fealty to Trump who is actually, you know, a bit conservative, but Pa. is not my circus, these are not my monkeys. Fetterman, however, is a brain dead idiot (but dem voters seem to like brain dead candidates), does Oz have a chance?

The article, BTW, is Ann Coulter demolishing the stupid excuses given as to why Fetterman has a convicted murderer on his staff. Say what you will about Ann, and there's plenty to say, she's at her best in situations like this, brutally hammering facts like a stake through the heart of a narrative.

Fascinating Illusion

Live Fast, Die Old

Maybe the sudden increase in the number of old guys dying of heart trouble in Taiwan isn't due to the vax after all.

Nursing home apologises for 'strippers and bingo' party after lingerie-clad woman lap-dances on wheelchair-bound pensioners to celebrate harvest festival in Taiwan

I don't really understand the outrage. They're adults, and as long as they freely chose to go to the stripper event, more power to them. Big meh from me.

Joey Wikes Choo-Choos!

The Freight-Rail-Strike Crisis Is Averted — for Now

Good overview, including highlighting some of the problems that union rules have caused.

For the past two decades, the unions have been making it very hard for new guys and gals to hire on and stay on. I endured two years in northeastern Montana before I found myself standing in a field during a blizzard waiting for a train and wondering exactly what the hell I was doing there.
Railroading is a hard job. But it’s a good solid job and one this nation relies on.
Back to my point: Yes, management probably needs to make more than a few concessions to labor. But someone in the labor camp needs to realize they can’t spend decades making it nearly impossible to bring in new blood, and then blame management for the fact there’s nobody around to give them time off. The laws of supply and demand are vicious mistresses, and they don’t like being broken.

In Weirddavetopia, unions will be outlawed. Instead, all corporations shall be required to have employee profit-sharing and stock ownership programs. Give everybody a stake in the success of the company and see if morale and productivity increases. I saw a Tweet a while back where someone was chiding Elon Musk for Tesla stock going up X% but Tesla workers weren't being given raises or something like that, I forget the exact details. Musk tweeted back something along the lines of “All Tesla employees hold stock in the company, their shares just increased in value X% too”. Shut the bozo right up, it did.

Judge Raymond Dearie was one of the FISA judges who signed the warrant to spy on Carter Page without cause."

does NOT look good to me, unless he is angry that he got duped. BUT I doubt that, I'd guess proper threats were made to the children of the judge to make sure one of the junta friends would be in charge of the further Insurrection by the Junta ... furthering the terrorist destruction of the Republic.

12 You are spot on about superheroes being American mythology. After all, Superman stands for "Truth. Justice. The American Way." That's not an accident.

Captain America is the paragon of American virtues. Again, that's not a coincidence.

Could be a good topic for a Sunday Morning Book Thread...Comic books are an underrated medium for storytelling. Sure, there is a lot of crap, but that's true for any form of literature.

There's also some truly excellent stories in comic book form.

"OB-GYNs Shatter Nine Of The Most Common Abortion Myths The Left Peddles To Spook Women

Some good information and links to counter the anti-life talking points that abound in the media."

This afternoon I went to see a movie, Corsicana, a western set in the 1890s. Good but not as good as the reviews led me to expect.

Anyway, the pre-feature trailers were woke, woke, woke. Worst one was propagandizing against abortion restriction laws. It is called "Call Jane" or something like that. Hoo boy, it had women seeking an abortion for any reason contacting an Underground Railway-type operation and taken to an illegal abortion clinic hidden in a big city. Then the women are kept there for months after the abortion for reasons I couldn't decipher. All men and all pro-life doctors are Big Bad Meanies, of course. Pro-abortion women are portrayed like they are the French Resistance battling occupying Nazi stormtroopers. Yow.

Look up 'sleep hygiene" if you're unfamiliar. I don't know if it will help, but it might be worth a shot to gain even another hour.

Sort of a short version: don't be in bed if you're not sleeping (certain things are acceptable of course), and if you're in bed only be doing things related to sleep or getting to sleep

Good luck.

162 My late StepMom's cat was evil incarnate. Bit her DEEP on the arms and legs with some frequency. Major league cat chomp, fangs sunk in to the gums.

StepMom had made the mistake of trying to hand-raise an abandoned, truly feral kitten. Probably feral for many generations of cats, it's like a big cat. Might act tame, but you're really not going to separate the cat from the wild nature, and it's not a matter of "if", but "when."

So, when StepMom passed, there was no choice but to take that 17 y/o monster to the vet, to be sent along to whatever bridges truly evil cats encounter. Robert the Cat has affectionate moments, meaning he's NOT a truly evil cat. Challenging? Oh, hell yes. I get that. Frankly, I'd go the next step and send actual video to Jackson Galaxy. 310 "Bro chill and go touch some grass. Ann turned into Veruca Salt during Trumps term."

well I am not cultured so had to look them up.

But here is the Thang. Trump (because of Ivanka love, and Jared .. and their pushing scarf lady?) kept murderous Fauci in front, ignoring the Great Barrington Declaration and real science. ... that lost a few hundred thousand lives, shut down our economy.

The border issue and assigning open border bureaucrats was another issue ... also costing many lives, though he did SOME control. And Trump still loves the vax, which may be more damaging than most know. Yet Coulter gets so much anger from so many here. ... I think she is a warrior .. more perfect and/or effective than most of us that just live our easy lives.

I'm not a fan of Kushner although I give him enormous credit for the Abraham Accords where he succeeded where the entire State Dept establishment failed for many decades. Anyone who has lived or done business in the ME can attest to what an incredible thing it is to have Muslim countries now working with Israel. We all play the hands we are dealt. Nobody wanted to work for Trump when he won in 2016. No. Body. And anyone who says different is peddling revisionist history.

He knew he was opposed to all things Trump, hated all things Trump, and yet accepted the nomination and sought the confirmation.

All while only scheming to torpedo every Trumpian effort within the range of his Wolf-Packs.

Sessions, by comparison, was a gullible fuckup, but his fuckupery did damage far beyond Tillerson's. Abraham Accords put Jared in the positive column, even if only by a whisker. In a 2nd Trump term, those would've broken the Mullahs in Iran, freeing her people, and pulling the final lynchpin holding back true advances in quashing the radicals and empowering the saner elements in various mid-east countries. And now, we have FJB wanting to send more pallets of cash to Iran. Go figure.

Maybe it's just the way I look at things but I've been watching politics all my life and I've never seen a presidency like Trumps so I tend to look at it differently.

Not to dodge your question and I am not at all saying Trump is perfect but let me ask you, which other president had a fake conspiracy run against him by the FBI/DOJ, State Dept., much of his own party and the media not only when he took office but during the campaign? I'll answer the obvious question, no president. So why should we judge him by conventional standards?

The Trump presidency was a black swan. It was never supposed to happen. We were supposed to have Hillary or an acceptable McCain. We were on the fast track to the WEF program and the entire weight of the establishment came down on him. And he fought like a boss and produced more than even Reagan.

He's not perfect and not all his decision or personnel issues were but Bannon, Flynn and Gorka all still support him. Without Trump there would be no Governor DeSantis. Trump changed everything

In hindsight some were obviously bad. But not to belabor the point they have to be taken in context.

I've been a higheingr manager for many years and you don't always get to pick your candidate pool. How many people do you think wanted to work for a Russian asset in 2017 when doing so meant you would likely be subjected to an FBI investigation not to mention public scorn? People seem to forget but at the time working for Trump in DC meant you couldn't even go to dinner in a restaurant without being a mob descending on you. This wasn't an Obama loveathon.

General Flynn, a decorated and celebrated military officer, had to sell his home over lies. Would you volunteer to work for Trump after that?

The connecting pipes had a gasket like piece that was not placed properly. I did have to play with it a couple times. Actually... I didnt see the point of the piece, put it back together without it, threw it away. When the leak was worse, I had to reconnect everything and then realized its purpose. At first I thought it just sat in the larger pipe, then I realized that it actually slides over the smaller pipe.

I also think Silver was undergoing a personal political shift, akin to David Mamet. I remember reading Coulter's farewell column she wrote about Silver; it was moving.

My favorite Silver line in a movie was the one with The Muscles From Brussels in 'Timecop'. His character goes back in time to talk 'to his younger, slimmer self'.

Way back in the early '80s, got to see Mickey Rooney on Broadway, with Ann Miller, in 'Sugar Babies'. It was a vaudeville review-type show and it was hysterical. One of the funniest shows I have ever seen. Another funny show was Penn and Teller (twice, Off Broadway and Broadway). While P and T were funny, you could tell with Rooney the humor was in the hands of a master.

In that last study link, they found that hydroxyurea, a drug used to treat sickle-cell anemia, was very effective against severe Covid. They tried it on dying Coof patients. 8 out of 10 survived. All of them returned to baseline respiratory function levels after treatment. Some later died, but they were gone away, pretty much.

The medical-industrial complex ignored this. Here we have a near wonder drug involved a cheap compound, hydroxyurea that was able to save 8 out of 10 dying Coof patients.

565 439 Thanks for rejoicing with me. It seems most plumbing issues take three trips to town so to accomplish this task with one trip was nice.

I had a job like that once. First time I went to Lowes for the "last needed part", the plumbing guy said "see you soon". I thought nothing of it, but an hour and a half later I was back for another thing. I asked the guy how he knew I would be back. He told me "what you're doing is a four trip job. I'll see you soon".

Kevin Clinesmith, a former FBI lawyer, plead guilty to altering emails to make a fraudulent FISA warrant application. The one presented to FISA court judge Dearie ruled on. Judges don't usually like being lied to.

Trump's legal team now includes a former DOJ prosecutor and they specifically asked for this guy. It would have been pretty awkward for the DOJ to say they didn't approve of a senior status federal judge who has top secret clearance to look at classified documents. Not all of Trump's personnel choices are bad.

We'll see how it goes but the judge was lied to by the DOJ previously. Do you think this was a bad choice?

573 >> I'm wondering if the ChiVi has lingering effects,

There is an interesting thread in all these suppressed treatments that appear to be effective. Hydroxychloroquine, ivm, and now the hydroxyurea. They all treat parasitic infections, and blood problems involving hemoglobin. It all boils down to blood being unable to get enough O2 to tissues. HCQ treats malaria, which involved a parasite that eats hemoglobin (in the so-called red blood cell phase).

It has become apparent the severe Covid disease is a blood problem, not a respiratory problem. The blood can't carry enough oxygen.

Plumbing today is a whole new world. I still got a shit ton of stuff in the stash from when I doing kitchens and baths, but I went to lowes recently because I needed shutoffs for under the sink. They don't even carry them. I'm talking about the good old Brasscraft shutoffs that you solder on. Nope, no got, all they had was all this new fangled shit like sharkbites, and plastic water pipe, and other crap. Home depot still has the old world shutoffs though. I grabbed a bunch just in case. I feel sorry for the ones that know little about plumbing, because its a shitstorm out there. I can easily see people making a bunch of trips.

What causes the blood problem? The spike protein. It's very toxic, and (see Jessica Rose), it attacks red blood cells, in a similar manner that the malaria parasite does.

The mRNA injectable poisons induce circulating spike protein levels to those seen only in severe Covid disease, that has been demonstrated. The clot problems are caused by this fucking up of red blood cells by the spike protein.

So HCQ interferes with the malaria parasities ability to inject itself into red blood cells. Makes sense it might interefere with the spike's ability to enter red blood cells. Indeed, both malaria and spike use the same receptor.

And ivermectin is anti-parasitic in general. The picture is becoming clear. And all this has been suppressed.

Find your local equivalent. They've got your Brasscraft, be it solder on or compression collar fitting.

Best solution? Pex supply throughout. NEVER use Sharkbite, 10 year degradation span. Use original PEX compression collars with CLICK wrench. Copper terminal off of PEX, then affix Brasscraft via compression collar for final valve and hose-bibb at wall.

It'll outlive us, this is for sure.

No, its a simple question you seem unable or unwilling to answer because it defeats your predetermined conclusion. Trump's team seems very pleased with this outcome because if you actually read Judge Cannon's decision which is pretty harsh against the DOJ and this specific judge Trump asked for as special master they think they got what they wanted.

Will they win? We'll see. But assuming this is a bad outcome is stupid. Go look at how the left is reacting.

One more, before I go, which just came in. Steve Kirsch had the cops called on him by one Grace Lee, the head of the ACIP, the advisory committee on immunization practice, an outside group of experts the FDA relies on for vaccines and such.

He was wanting to simply ask the ACIP head if she wanted to see the "secret" Israeli study on vaccine safety. She would respond to his emails, texts, or phone calls. So, Kirsch just goes to her house (they both live in Palo Alto -- Steve Kirsch is a big (former?) lefty and Democrat donor).

He posts a note on her door. She doesn't answer, and calls the cops on him. Palo Alto cops show up. They do their job nicely, Kirsch notes. No complaints there. Kirsch 'splains he wants to ask her a question, that's all, and will they please deliver his message to her. They do.

She hasn't repsonded.

612 >>Barr never shut down Mueller. Not sure what history you are looking at.

That's just factually wrong. Go back and look at the timeline. He not only shut him down he turned down Mueller's, well really Weismann's" bullshit obstruction charge which enraged leftists. These aren't debatable issues, the facts are well established.

I tried to answer all of your points 1 by 1 but this place's new comment system says two many paragraphs look like spam and won't let me post.

Barr is a DOJ institutionalist like McCarthy. He started well, even went on CNN right before the election to say mass mail in voting would lead to cheating, and then folded when thing got real and after Trump fired him became went back to the swamp.

What is happening right now is not kabuki. Trump declassified and took incriminating documents which caused the establishment to freak out. This is a war against the deep state and not everything will go according to plan but it is happening.

You can yell at me later. Going to bed.

>When I was younger, our society passed that test easily. But with all of today's censorship in social media, the workplace, and society in general, we have been transformed into a fear society.

>That's why I find joy in Let's Go Brandon and related chants at ballgames. It's a literal application of the Town Square Test. It is a new generation resisting the tyrrany and claiming their right to a free society, in the face of the cultural presumption that fear has won.

The country can go back to being libertarian after it has been aggressively conservative.

620 I drove through Martha's Vineyard a couple years ago and wondered where they get the workers to work in the fast food and other retail places. Since no ordinary worker can live there, the have to commute in everyday for their meager salary.
Problem solved, just import illegals to do the work, and all will get just great. Put up shanty houses on a vacant lot, and the rich will never see them.

621 387 Maybe it's just the way I look at things but I've been watching politics all my life and I've never seen a presidency like Trumps so I tend to look at it differently.

Try something like this instead of a paragraph return:

So why should we judge him by conventional standards? -- The Trump presidency was a black swan.

624 Re 591, do people actually care what anyone, I mean anyone says about them on an internet blog? I suppose if someone wants to be part of the non virtual community that exists here, it's one thing, and occasionally that group can be clique-ish and cruel. But, we all made it through high school too. I offer things around here I have seen on the news, vignettes from life in the Texas countryside, references to working around the world in the past and opinions on any number of subjects - but looking for affirmation on the internet? Sorry.

625 591 Idk who reads the comments, COB-wise, but I can't sleep tonight and one of the things that is bugging me is that Ace called out one of my (few) comments earlier today and named me a "resident prog troll."
I'm still pissed, because 1. I am mainly a lurker and rarely comment 2. I don't stir shit up 3. My comment was misunderstood by Reuben Hicks who called me a prog, but how it came to the attention of Ace I have no idea. The last thing I am is a leftist. To be characterized as a "resident troll" implies I have a history of saying leftist things, or supporting them, which is not at all true. And, not only was I characterized that way, but on Ace's own post. By Ace. Good grief. And there is nothing I can do about it. I'm probably howling at the moon here, nobody cares, but to be called a resident prog troll and not be able to defend myself just isn't right.

I didn't understand why Ace said that, either--but I wasn't around at the time of the thread. I think he misread you; and you pointed that out in the comments; and now here. It happens!

626 The alleged chess cheating was Hans Moke Niemann with back against Magnus Carlsen with white. Magnus is world champion and it is extremely difficult and rare to beat him with the black pieces. Hans is a bit suspicious because he has been previously caught cheating in online chess and was banned from chess.com. Hans' rating improvement from 2600 to 2700 has been described as meteoric. Not totally unprecedented if he is really among the best in the world, but he doesn't seem at that level when verbally analyzing and explaining his games afterwards.

I don't know if it was anal beads, but I think he probably cheated.

628 The unions complained that "our members are being terminated for getting sick or for attending routine medical visits as we crawl our way out of worldwide pandemic. No working-class American should be treated with this level of harassment in the workplace for simply becoming ill or going to a routine medical visit."

Where in hell were you during the mass firings industry wide for not taking the deadly Clot Shot? Furthermore, the rail industry is famous for its health benefits prior to this work stoppage so what changed in the past couple years?

Word on the street is that employees are greatly abusing this privilege and demanding all kinds of C19 weeks off leaving schedulers in chaos as they try to backfill roles that keep the trains moving.
