A New York City Democrat Councilman Endorses Republican Lee Zeldin Over Kathy Hochul

A New York City Democrat councilman has crossed party lines to endorse Republican Lee Zeldin for governor, over the incumbent incompetent Kathy Hochul.

"Just look at the current condition of New York City and New York State: There's mayhem in our streets, in our courts, in our jails," Councilman Robert Holden said as he endorsed Long Island Rep. Lee Zeldin for governor on Monday.

"We're headed in the wrong direction," Holden said. "The handwriting is on the wall. Lee Zeldin is the best option for voters."

He's the latest Democrat to decide that Governess Hochul has to go:

Holden and Zeldin were joined on the steps of City Hall by two controversial former Democratic lawmakers: former Brooklyn Assemblyman Dov Hikind and former Bronx Councilman Ruben Diaz Sr.

A couple of weeks ago a Trafalgar poll showed Zeldin within four of Hochul, 47-43.

A new poll confirms that the race is tight: a co/efficient poll (I didn't name it) says that only six points separate the Mask Authoritarian and Queen of Crime from Zeldin.

The survey of 1,194 likely voters -- conducted by the polling firm co/efficient -- showed 49% backing Hochul, 43% supporting Zeldin and 8% undecided.

The right-leaning pollster predicted GOP underdog Glenn Youngkin's upset victory over Democrat Terry McAuliffe in the Virginia governor's race last year.

"It is a competitive race, more than most people assume. It's an uphill battle for Zeldin but a winnable race," said Ryan Muncie, president of the co/efficient polling firm.

"The intensity of voters is definitely on the right but whether that's enough to overcome the Democratic registration advantage remains to be seen," he added.

Video deleted. Eric Blade says it's a misleading video, and it shows vendors packing up after selling their wares on the street, rather than what it appears to be, some kind of pigsty of a homeless encampment. He says the vendors have been permitted there since Giuliani.

41 The other statewide race that may result in an upsetis the Atorney General race. It involves incumbent Letitia James, the Trump-hating Democrat, and Republican Michael Henry of Queens.

I saw a poll the other day that had the two of them in a tie, with Henry holding the lead by margin of error.

Henry may win because Andrew Cuomo's people hate James for what she did against Cuomo in his sexual harassment scandal. Cuomo always had a strong streak of hatred for Democrats who challenge him. He destroyed the Liberal Party after losing the Democrat Party primary to Carl McCall.

Look for Cuomo to seek revenge against James.

I'm totally blanking on the name of an annual Black festival in Atlanta that drew thousands of "college students" to the city every year.

We were stuck in traffic in Buckhead, and forced to witness a "student" pull down his pants in front of our car...and poop. With our young son witnessing it along with us.

That was right before we had to move to Chicagoland. Sigh.

I'm hoping for a GOP Senate simply to slow down the worst excesses of the federal government, not to actually accomplish anything of note.

However, wave elections affect far more than just the federal government. They affect state governments as well.

Want election integrity in your state but nothing's happened? A red wave could change that. A new governor, the GOP suddenly injected with a bunch more legislators who have been radicalized by the 2020 election, and a diminished state level Democratic machine could be the difference between some place like AZ continuing to be a purple state because Maricopa is allowed to do whatever it wants and AZ turning into another FL that reins in election fraud.

127 Democrats know two things the Republicans never will, no matter how much a party screws up and pisses off the voters, the party will always eventually get back into power, so they push the accelerator to the floor and go for broke, knowing they will get back into power.

I mean, if the left did not control the establishment and did not use the media and entertainment for 24/7 constant propaganda, that might not work. Without that huge boost I doubt Democrats would win anything beyond dog catcher in Scio Oregon. But with it, yeah eventually they'll get back in power so there's no real price to pay for pushing as hard as possible.

And since the Republicans never, ever, ever even consider rolling anything back... the Democrats can't lose.

In 2020 President Trump won over 70% of NYS 64 counties.

An Electoral College system would go a long way to level the playing field giving counties that do not make up NYC or Buffalo a better representation. Hell, maybe Chuck U Schumer or Gillibrand would have been ousted long ago if we had that system.

Probably.

But word gets out its close in NY. And the dems will have to at least let their own voters know its tighter than expected. It's a high profile race. It encourages conservative voters that perhaps picks off a democrat that might otherwise have won. What we do know, is that the Aug/Sep polling surge for FJB was manufactured - and that there really isn't any increased enthusiasm on the left - we have the independents going quiet. Raiding Trump's residence, the Philly "Nuremburg" speech has made people keep their head down. We probably have a situation where even good pollsters are missing conservative votes.

The wave is there. But it's shaped a bit differently, and it's a bit under the water still. And without a bunch of mail in ballots all over the place, it's going to be a tougher steal.

308 Just to follow up on some comments above, a little history might help. The "downtown" areas of Manhattan were historically mostly industrial and commercial. The only people that lived there were poor and mostly recent immigrants. The more affluent all lived uptown. See "Gangs of New York" for a stark but accurate depiction of this.

More recently, these downtown areas became trendy -- for reasons that escape me -- and attracted a lot of high-end residential development. So you had a lot of affluent people moving there. But what didn't change is the seedy, commercial character of the areas. As Sefton pointed out above, there is some very expensive residential real estate only a few blocks from Canal Street. But Canal Street remains packed with smaller businesses and commercial entities -- both legal and illegal -- and is just as seedy and unpleasant as always.

The Lyebrows. I've noticed that the fevered Left has eyebrows constantly on the rise, particularly the ladies, when they are shitting out lies. It's a weird form of emotive insistence, "Listen to me! I'm superserious!"

I guess at some age they stick like that.
