The Morning Report — 9/12/22

idibiden.jpg

Good morning kids. It's been 21 years since what I consider the worst day, stretching into days of my life. The ramifications of what happened on that day, beyond the horror of the lives lost, have affected us and will continue to have an affect on us for years to come. I'm speaking not only of the dark age evil disguised as a pseudo religion that practiced to the letter the central tenets it claims come directly from what they consider God, but of something that I have come to realize is in its way probably worse — The parallel evil that seeks its own version of paradise on earth and that sprang up right here in our midst and from the capitals of a western civilization we had thought, or had hoped, was the antithesis of the dark age, merciless, pitiless Arabian desert enclave from whence it was spawned. Turns out we were wrong about that. More merciless and pitiless than that turns out to be the faculty lounges and lecture halls of academia, as well as the board rooms of mega-corporations, as well as in places like Brussels, Geneva and Davos.

Lurker extraordinaire Victor Davis Hanson, in his quite good essay (despite the ridiculous brevity of my pull quote) on the cancer of "wokism" makes this observation:

We went mad then because we easily could. And we could not because we were poor and oppressed, but because we were rich and bored.

I've often described Islam and Leftism as two sides of the same rotten coin. The former never left the dark ages while the latter sprang into being because its forbears spent the past 16 centuries seeking enlightenment. The irony smacks you right upside the head. And what happened on 9/11 "woke" me the hell up. It certainly came out of the blue, but only now do I see that it was inevitable because of the political correctness as well as rank incompetence of our intelligence and law enforcement agencies that as we are now well aware, view us as the greatest threat to peace and stability, and not the radicals foreign and domestic who seek our destruction or enslavement.

Just like an engineered virus that came from China and likely was cooked up by our own evil scientists with our own tax dollars, was used as a pretext to strip our freedoms and seize power, look what was created in the wake of 9/11. FISA courts and a whole new law enforcement bureaucracy, both of which have been used in Orwellian fashion not to protect the citizenry and our sovereignty but to go after enemies of the State as well as erase our national borders. And just to refresh your memory, as if I need to, those were the creation not of Leftist Democrats but of the GOP administration of George W. Bush and the father of Liz-ard Cheney, to name but a few.

I'll never forget watching members of Congress shortly after the attacks standing together and singing The Star Spangled Banner. For a moment, I thought perhaps the animosity over the 2000 election might be put aside "for the duration" but even then I had a niggling (is that racist?) feeling that it wouldn't last. In the event, the accusations started flying over going to war and worse, how Dubya refused to name the enemy and instead called this a "War on Terror." The irony here is that in the wake of Sponge-Brain Shits-Pants bug out from Afghanistan, the pretext for going to war, the WMD that Saddam Hussein was alleged to have possessed never materialized. Instead, Iraq was pulverized and thousands of soldiers were killed for nothing. Well, not for nothing as the stock portfolios of many in Congress on both sides of the aisle can attest. And now, they want to lather, rinse and repeat in, of all places, the Ukraine. Funny how 21 years later, I find myself agreeing, at least in this context, with someone like Cindy Sheehan.

"No blood for oil" indeed. For four years, America finally became a net exporter of oil, gasoline was under $2.00 a gallon and we were on our way out of Afghanistan, but in a measured and responsible way. Meanwhile, having exposed "Peace Process Inc." for the sham that it was, a major realignment thanks to the Abraham Accords created, if not Mideast peace, then at least the solid foundation for stability and containment perhaps for the first time in 100 years.

But no. The Left, the Globalists and the RINO remora could not allow that to happen. And so, what was spawned in the wake of 9/11 was turned on the man who made all those great things possible and now they are being turned on us.

Remember 9/11 and the victims of that day. And while the Palestinians were handing out candy in the West Bank, and their relatives who were watching from rooftops in Jersey City were ululating in glee, the Deep Staters here were salivating at their prospects for lucre and power. If there is any consolation to the events of that day and bookmarked with The Thing's Speech the other week, it's that at least I'm now fully aware of who these people are and what they are yet capable of.

NOTE: Latest episode of the podcast is up in the sidebar. And do listen to the previous one with Dave in Fla. Outstanding analysis of the upcoming midterms.

    ABOVE THE FOLD, BREAKING, NOTEWORTHY

  • "As the country undergoes a gradual but decisive transition—in effect, a tacit revolution—from a condition of democratic freedom and economic prosperity to demagogic rule and dwindling resources, nothing in the way of a popular revolt seems to be brewing, despite the hopeful assumptions of patriot thought-leaders."
How Trudeau Sold Out Canada to Davos
  • Michael Walsh: "We want, and were given, ordered liberty. We prize our Constitution; these blackguards despise it. But it's our Republic, not their 'democracy,' and it's about time we make that clear to them—by any means necessary, as they like to say."
    The Worst Form of Government
  • Victor Davis Hanson: "We went mad because we easily could. And we could, not because we were poor and oppressed, but because we were rich and bored."
    America Delira
  • "Charles Murray’s social science is sometimes provocative, usually controversial, and always significant to the national debate."
    The Influencer
  • Michael Anton: "However much The Godfather may have to teach us, we mustn’t lose sight of the fact that it is a very good movie about very bad people. So why does the right, which claims to stand up for virtue, morality, and the American way of life, love this immoral, anti-American film so much?"

41 The sadness at the queen's death is because she was the last connection to a world where Britain was actually great. There was a cartoon in the 70s that showed an aristocratic Englishman at a fireplace, and over the mantel was a wooden plaque with the words Great Britain. He had broken off the portion that said Great and was burning it in the fire to keep warm. It was funny then, it is true now. As Tucker Carlson pointed out, Britain was the only colonizer to leave her colonies better off when she left, and now there is very little left.

44 Russia "ordering its troops to withdraw" = Russia acknowledges that it's front line troops in the region have abandoned their weapons and thrown away their uniforms while they run as quickly as they can. What's most significant is that the Ukes did *not* in fact win some huge battlefield victory. Rather, they advanced expecting resistance but the Russian forces simply collapsed and abandoned their positions. There appears to have been very little fighting.

53 Its popular to give President Trump credit for unmasking the deep state which he deserves to a point but IMO it has been a process and it really revealed itself on 9/11/01. Not only revealed the deep state but certainly the nature of the left and and really provided a gauge at the time how eroded and devolved the American culture had become.

The hatred for this country revealed after 9/11 was incomprehensible even amongst the bullshit illusion at the time of being united. Even scarier is how it has metastasized, with the occupy, BLM and antifa movements since.

Utopianism, in one of its forms, is the root cancer. The siren appeal of the perfect system. Perfect under Allah, perfect under G-d, perfect under the state, perfect under professional management, perfect as a nation, perfect as a global system, etc. That lust for the perfect system has a diabolical human cost because man - and the world he inhabits - is imperfect and imperfectible. It is not subject to perfection. If you seek to force the round peg of man into the square hole of perfection, you will end up with a mountain of corpses. There is no other option.

Meanwhile, having exposed "Peace Process Inc." for the sham that it was, a major realignment thanks to the Abraham Accords created, if not Mideast peace, then at least the solid foundation for stability and containment perhaps for the first time in 100 years.
++++
And all it took was a wholesale rejection of the various professionals in government, economics, energy, climate, diplomacy, academia, et. al.

The Abraham Accords happened because Trump rejected the conventional wisdom that the only solution was a omnibus multilateral deal. Energy independence happened because Trump rejected the climate and environmental orthodoxy. The Afghanistan withdrawal - which we screwed up because the military refused to follow their orders - was made possible by rejecting nation-building and the neo-imperialism of the Progressives.

All it took was back-benching the entire group that had been running government for 70 years.

76 It's a shame there is no one of quality in command on either side of the Ukrainian conflict. Tactically, an incredible opportunity just opened up, but I don't expect anyone there to have the vision to exploit it. If there was a Patton on the uke side - or a Grant, or a Sherman, or a Lee - they would be launching a tank column through that gap *today* and they would have an army 100 miles deep into Luhansk within 48 hours. But I expect them to do what any inept political commanders would do - stop at the recent gains and have a big party and takes lots of promotional pictures while the enemy regroups.

Any of the commanders I named above could win this entire war within a week, given the current situation.

Iran.

The Russians pulled off a miracle.. The sanctions regime should have worked according to all of the gaming and intelligence work. It *did* work, albeit briefly. The Russian finance minister earned his keep and then some by pulling the rabbit out of the hat. Their strategy of partial internal convertibility of the Ruble to gold - effectively laundering the currency through the gold supply, improving domestic value of the currency and hiding the gold supply widely with individual Russians allowed the to prop up the Ruble, encourage repatriation, arrest the decline of the currency in international markets and buy time to allow some alternate settlement mechanisms to be developed for their now-limited international trade.

That move was unexpected, innovative, brilliant, extremely effective and an utter surprise. Putin should put whoever is responsible for it on a coin and a postage stamp.

It's a demand the west has rejected several times now. Ukraine either needs:

1. Thousands of tanks to making long-distance pushes practical
2. Air superiority (even less likely to choose to deliver sufficient equipment for this)
3. Artillery superiority (we literally don't have sufficient equipment to give them to achieve this)

Absent that the Russians will just move the defensive lines when convenient to manage their casualty ratios and pound them from afar.

I'm as cynical about the federal level GOP as anyone. A GOP Congress in 2023 will accomplish nothing positive, probably some negative, and be an empty shell built to enrich insiders while conning the rubes with something vaguely "conservative" to fight for, while never really fighting for it.

However, this internal conflict within the GOP seems different. The past seemed like, at best, polite conflicts between different country clubs, demanding control of who gets to organize the next debutant ball for their own kids. The Tea Party was the base saying, "this sucks" in completely incoherent fashion and without any sort of real organization that lasted long enough to survive grifters getting on the inside. MAGA is different. We have Trump as the head who has spent the last six years essentially building a new party within the GOP.

That's very different. It could really change things.

Since we're talking bridges that's probably the position over the Dneiper. The Russians have a position past the river in the south that is more vulnerable to the limited equipment and higher number of infantry the Ukrainians have. Near Kharkiv, which is closer to what pushing Russians elsewhere would look like except there'd be more Russians, all they've done is got the Russians to reset their defensive line a bit farther back.

No, 9/11 was to them a giant teachable moment about "Islam is the religion of peace" and we have to go out of our way to make sure there is no backlash, bigots blah blah blah.

The true outrageousness is that Biden and others are happily condemning MAGA "terrorists" with an abondon we were not allowed to do w/the 9/11 and subsequent jihadi terrorist attacks on us.

236 Ukraine is reoccupying mostly empty territory in the northeast. Russia has learned a painful lesson, insofar as they don't have the ability to occupy those lands without popular support from the natives.

But, as everyone knows, the real prize is in the south, in the oblasts along the Black Sea where Putin has tried to claim enough land to extend Russian borders far enough west to give Russia a land route to Crimea (and the Russian naval base at Sevastopol). That is land Russia will fight hard to keep, and Ukraine will fight to take back.

In other words, the main act is yet to come.

On Friday, August 19, 2022, a narrowly-split North Carolina Supreme Court struck down a 90-year-old precedent that protected nurses from liability. The opinion of the three justices in favor of overturning the ruling stated that because nursing had evolved, the decision was necessary. The two dissenting justices countered that holding nurses accountable for physicians’ decisions would create “liability without causation.” How this latest ruling will affect future cases is unclear.

That's great, but go buy a gas can in any state. They're ALL C.A.R.B. approved because companies aren't going to make two lines for non-China states. Sorry, non-California states. It's a waste of money to set up two plants. They'll sell to their biggest markets, and you'll buy what you can find. Just like the gas cans.

And that's what this is. It's not California, although I'm becoming more and more convinced that China is what's funding the California laws to push onto the rest of us.

288 A 30-year-old Afghan asylum seeker was shot dead in the city of Ansbach, Germany on Thursday after stabbing random people at a railway station, reportedly while yelling “Allahu Akbar!”

The incident took place at around 6 p.m. and saw the attacker, who is said to be an asylum seeker from Afghanistan who arrived in Germany in 2015, attack a 17-year-old young man from behind, grabbing him and falling down a flight of stairs. He is then said to have tried to sit on the teen and stab him with one of the two knives in his possession.

Oh they are working on it right now - have you not seen the euphemism "Minor-Attracted Person" (MAP)? Sites like Slate have been regularly doing articles about how pedos are the real victims, they can't help it and it's OK as long as they don't act on it.

On the other front, the drag queen/trans stuff is very much laying the groundwork for pedo acceptance. First, they have to normalize the sexualization of children including children owning their sexuality (they're there - that's why Libs of tiktok stiff is so unsettling), it's only the tiniest pivot to then assert that "children can consent to sex with an adult." ("if they can declare themselves 'queer' and another gender in kindergarten, why not give consent?" they will ask)
They are so close to this pivot it's frightning.
