Venice, by R. Callegaro

Catblogger. He makes a lot of sense. I feel that way a lot.

Nursing a very premature hippo baby through its critical weeks.

Here's Fiona after she's gotten through her most difficult days -- and being introduced to the pool.

A big test: Introducing Fiona to her parents after she's been away from them and hand-raised by humans for weeks, missing out on the normal bonding period between parent and calf.

Dog does not like Pennywise the Clown.

I will teabag you, p*ssy.

Yorkie WWF.

Bouncy baby goat.

Not the hero we deserve, but the hero we need.

Hollywood v. Reality.

Instagram vs. Reality.

Cute: a beagle who just gave birth to a litter is rescued from a warehouse breeding situation. A hundred pound pit bull plays nanny to the puppies while the mom recovers.

I figure this prank gets played in coroner's offices ten times a year. I would assume that all dead bodies are actually alive bodies until I've run the bone saw over their ribs for a few minutes.

Interesting video: A guy paints a room entirely in Musou Black paint, a Japanese paint which, it is claimed, absorbs 94-98+% of all light. So it's not just black, it's dark as the pits of hell. It eats light.

This is a dark room, man.

Other people are now painting their cars in Mosou black.

This Porsche, for example:

mosouporche.jpg

Obligatory mention of Hotblack Desiato's stunt ship:

Zaphod's attention however was elsewhere. His attention was riveted on the ship standing next to Hotblack Desiato's limo. His mouths hung open.

"That," he said, "that ... is really bad for the eyes ..."

Ford looked. He too stood astonished.

It was a ship of classic, simple design, like a flattened salmon, twenty yards long, very clean, very sleek. There was just one remarkable thing about it.

"It's so ... black!" said Ford Prefect, "you can hardly make out its shape ... light just seems to fall into it!"

Zaphod said nothing. He had simply fallen in love.

The blackness of it was so extreme that it was almost impossible to tell how close you were standing to it.

"Your eyes just slide of f it ..." said Ford in wonder. It was an emotional moment. He bit his lip.

Zaphod moved forward to it, slowly, like a man possessed - or more accurately like a man who wanted to possess. His hand reached out to stroke it. His hand stopped. His hand reached out to stroke it again. His hand stopped again.

"Come and feel the surface," he said in a hushed voice.

Ford put his hand out to feel it. His hand stopped.

"You ... you can't ..." he said.

"See?" said Zaphod, "it's just totally frictionless. This must be one mother of a mover ..."

He turned to look at Ford seriously. At least, one of his heads did - the other stayed gazing in awe at the ship.

"What do you reckon, Ford?" he said.

"You mean ... er ..." Ford looked over his shoulder. "You mean stroll off with it? You think we should?"

"No."

"Nor do I."

"But we're going to, aren't we?"

"How can we not?"

It ends badly.

46 I have no idea why someone would paint a car Vanta black or any other super black. Someone is going to t-bone your car because they don't see you. There's a reason most cars have daytime running lights today. People pull out in front of cars with normal paintjobs all the time. Making your car nearly impossible to see is asking for trouble.

It can be fun, but the problem with the Reacher novels is the lack of challenge. Jack Reacher knows everything, is stronger, faster, and tougher than everyone, never misses (except when the plot demands the target get away) on and on. He doesn't learn, he doesn't grow, he doesn't develop. He's a Marty Stu. And Child rewrote his origin/background story like 3 times.

It can work, with a character like Superman or Conan or how Thor is SUPPOSED to be, where you have someone who has developed fully and now is just interesting in how they deal with a situation. And that's essentially what the Reacher books are.

But the problem is Superman has Kryptonite. Conan is superstitious and not super intelligent (although very cunning), etc. They need a weakness, an area they aren't great at, some place that the reader recognizes genuine danger and thus drama.

Only 1010 Mystichrome Cobras were produced–515 coupes and 495 convertibles."

figure half of those were wrecked or driven into the ground, and that's probably a decent barn find if you came across one.

137 Sherlock's weakness wasn't the off-screen use of drugs, he only did coke for like 1 story, and not during the story.

His weakness was that he was incredibly focused on one thing to the exclusion of everything else. And the device Doyle used to keep him from being annoyingly super-competent was the doctor's narration - one step removed, and through the eyes of a normal person.

Holmes on his own would really be a grating and unlikable character, despite his real sense of humor and sometimes surprisingly humble actions. He was too good and too extraordinary to be the narrator or left to an omniscient voice. But with Watson telling you about him, he became more interesting and humanized.

Exactly! Watson is the "everyman" to stand in for the reader. He had his own foibles and problems, of course, but he could also offer insight into a case that would help Holmes solve it. Holmes is the "paragon" of a detective, being the best in the world at what he does. But he's not infallible and he's not omniscient.

271 Had a four door Rocket 88. Falcon station wagon rammed it a little at the back door and the rear quarter panel.

Knocked it up on the far curb. Wrecker driver that came to tow off the totaled Falcon used the hook on his cable to pull the Old's quarter panel off of the tire.

It was ugly but I finished the evening.

We know for certain that there is no indication of terrorism at this point and both stabbers acted alone.

363 Reuters/Ipso is reporting today on some poll they did where a majority of Americans hate Republicans - that is literally what they are selling - and that includes Republicans actually hate themselves, too.

You see, according to Reuters poll, 60% of all Republicans hate MAGA Republicans and say they aren't even really Republicans...even though most Republicans identify as MAGA in every poll ever done since 2016, including previous ones done by...Reuters! So, Reuters is effectively saying we hate ourselves.

Yeah, its retarded - but this is the kind of logic pretzel that lefty doofuses employed at dying press outlets twist themselves into to sell shit they themselves don't even believe.

Essentially, what some manbun doofus named Jason over at Reuters is trying to sell everyone tonight is what his/him/Xer's newsroom sincerely hopes for - that ever since Punchy called us all haters last week, we all decided: "You know - he's right! What the fuck - we really do hate ourselves for being haters! Thanks, Punchy!"

daunting condition for me personally, but noticing a new skilled fashion you solved
it took me to jump with happiness. I am just grateful for the help and hope that you
are aware of a great job you happen to be doing instructing many people through the use of a
site. I know that you've never come across all of us.
