Nice to know that the FBI is heavy into Opinion Management now.

I wonder how much the use of nitter.net and other such alternatives affects the count of Twitter users--and hence the countable percentage of Twitter users and bots.

That Hill article about the FBI and social media companies is virtually unreadable in its probably overly-lawyered vagueness. Like, what is "information related to potential threats" in this gobbledygook:
The FBI said that it “routinely notifies” private sector entities, including social media companies, of information related to potential threats Posted by: m at August 28, 2022 04:32 AM (0ixKl) 7
When they say "potential threats" they mean stories they want suppressed. These stories are viewed as threats because they are true. I helped my wife post a meme on Facebook yesterday. One which could be considered positive toward our troops who surrender years of their lives for a college education. Facebook decided that none of my wife's friends should see it because we checked. Nice little monopoly you have there Facebook. Posted by: Divide by Zero at August 28, 2022 04:44 AM (jE276) 8

ANd Morning all!
A little sore from mowing yesterday, and would have liked to sleep another 2 hours or so. My niece gets married next Saturday and I need to rest up. Definitely need to rest up my liver. It's going to be a big rat killing. She dated and lived with the guy for 20 years. When asked about marriage she said "It's just a piece of paper" All of a sudden, it's a 4 day Bacchanal. And I have to wear a suit. Posted by: Bruce at August 28, 2022 05:06 AM (vd8XM) 10
In this case a 30TB SSD for $39. You typically get 1GB and some clever software that makes it look like it works right until you write 1.01GB.
Yeah, but you can't beat the price. And next day (mol) delivery for Prime members ...Amazon... Posted by: Bruce at August 28, 2022 05:10 AM (vd8XM) 11

I said to my wife why not just send emails to friends? Posted by: Bruce at August 28, 2022 05:01 AM Yes, that works, of course. But Facebook *should* work like a court of public opinion where thousands, perhaps millions of people see what the majority are thinking. But Facebook has decided to put their thumb on the scale and create a perception that the leftist point of view is the only one. It makes it easier to steal elections, or at least create the perception that 81 million people *actually* voted for shit-for-brains. Posted by: Divide by Zero at August 28, 2022 05:14 AM (jE276) 14
It will be fun JT.
I just figured after all this time it would be a courthouse marriage and dinner with the family. Now it's at 200 guests. Most coming from out of town. It will be a great time though. And the weather is promising to be perfect for all the days. Posted by: Bruce at August 28, 2022 05:16 AM (vd8XM) 15

The winner of the One Billion dollars Mega millions jackpot still hasn't come forward. Whoever it is, they only have 60 days to choose their preferred payment option. After that, it's automatically the annual annuity.
I'd hate to think the winner threw the winning ticket in the trash. Posted by: That Guy What Always Says Yeah Buddy TM at August 28, 2022 05:48 AM (R5lpX) 30

Looks to me like Musk won bigly in the court ruling. I can't imagine that be did anything hinky in his side's bot calculation, so showing his work isn't that big a deal. Twitter, however, is in a world of hurt, even if it's a smaller data set that is analyzed.

Have Pookette and the service dog reached an understanding?
Posted by: Polliwog the 'Ette at August 28, 2022 08:17 AM (nC+QA) She found out she can play with him and, even better, give him squeaky toys. She's very old school in her comedy, so she gave the dog a rubber chicken, and squeals with laughter when he uses it. The cats are coming to an uneasy truce with him, so that's progress! One day an administration is going to have the tits or balls to relieve the American citizens of the entire FBI cabal that wants nothing more than to severely suppress the US citizenry while allowing the gov't to reign as the Supreme Overlords. Sounds like the admin we have now.

Kindle Fire cleaned out of weird shit, like personal letters, (from Amazon?), free samples, and free gifts. I downloaded all my purchased books, and I bought Cheaper By The Dozen, based on the recommendation up there...(pointing up).
When I first bought this kindle, I also got a 64 GB micro SD card so that I would have room for all my books! I was really excited about having so much memory I could carry around my entire library. That didn't work out, because at the time, there was no way to download everything to my kindle. So opening a recent purchase, perhaps, or an older title would give me an error message, informing me I didn't have an internet connection. Of course all the letters, free samples, and weird free crap were downloaded. E-readers are a good idea in theory, but in practice they were difficult, and in many ways remain so today. And then there's DRM, which is so screwed up I can't list my non DRM books in my kindle library, because reasons. So....I'm on a quest to remove DRM from all my purchased content, and I won't use the kindle reader on my tablet. I really don't think I'll be purchasing any more DRM content from Amazon either. Tanya the Evil is a fantastic series. By all means, watch the OVA and the movie afterwards. They continue the story and the movie is simply astounding. She's not THAT evil... There's no way she could have realistically known the enemy artillery would hit that bunker... I think. ----- The fan base for the series is so good they've written fan fic about what happens after the end of the manga that is actually worth reading.
