The Morning Report — 8/22/22

poxpelosmitc.jpg

Good morning, kids. Start of a new week and a few things out there are brewing that do not exactly fill me with strength and confidence for the near term, let alone the outright banana republic thuggery epitomized by the only recently unimaginable Gestapo raid on a former president — one who was ousted by the rigging and theft of a national election. Talking with a very good friend this weekend, he mentioned arguably the worst woman in America, Malig-Nancy Pelosi, all but guaranteeing that the Democrats were going to hold both the Senate and the House come November (sorry, no link). Considering the intentional abject destruction meted out by her and her ilk led by the handlers of a demented, pervert dotard who spent most of his adult life figuratively fucking his constituents as well as members of his own family, quite literally, you have to ask yourself how could this be possible?

I refer you to her infamous proclamation only a few months before the 2020 election wherein she absolutely guaranteed "Donald Trump will not be president." I distinctly remember both her wording as well as her tone and it was not mere political bluster. She said it as if she had the inside dope and as history shows, she sure did. My friend relayed to me that that is exactly what she sounded like this time around as well. And right on cue, we have this:

Elementary schools and universities have been preparing for potential monkeypox outbreaks as the summer closes and the autumn sessions near.

Though monkeypox has spread almost exclusively among men who have sex with men (14,000 confirmed cases in the United States), health officials fear that the virus will spread beyond the LGBTQ community and into the general population, with elementary school and college students being the most vulnerable. Per the Hill . . .

. . . Young children have a natural propensity to play and touch each other. If one such child is infected with monkeypox, they can spawn a local outbreak with the other children, and their teachers. Many such children engage in physical contact like playful wrestling. Such activities are innate. Attempting to limit or prevent such physical contact is not only futile, but it could be harmful to their development.

Given the limited supply and specific focus on the LGBTQ community, vaccinating such populations against monkeypox would be nearly impossible at this point, leading various school districts and colleges to develop their own plan. Just last week, Penn State released its own monkeypox guidance, in which it stressed that “anybody is at risk for monkeypox.”

Here's an idea, maybe homosexuals should abstain from buggering each other and lock themselves in their homes to prevent the spread of the disease to the normal population. Maybe the government should force them to remain locked in their homes for their own protection, like we did back when the term AIDS first came into the public consciousness. Oops! Never happened!

Of course, a statement like that which exposes the rank hypocrisy of the Left could result in my "cancellation." This latest sin-borne plague, if you will, like AIDS really is a "gay disease." Whatever risk it may pose to the vast majority of normal people, like AIDS, does not warrant draconian measures that shut down all of society — like the response to the General Tso's Sickness, aka Chinese COVID. The only reason to do something like this is purely to make a favored population/political bloc not feel stigmatized by shaming and smearing one's political enemies as bigots for pointing out the obvious, as well as to lay the groundwork for mail-in voting and ballot harvesting but mostly to lay the groundwork for mail-in voting and ballot harvesting.

So that is perhaps Malig-Nancy's boot to the groin. It sure as hell wasn't the Gestapo raid on Mar-a-Lago since by all indications a majority of people across the board view it as a naked political cheap shot at Trump and his associates. The proof? Trump has already raised millions of dollars in the immediate aftermath and the cash registers are still ringing. I imagine the IRS is champing at the bit to raid his 501-C3 as we speak. So, if monkeypox monkey business drops us to our knees, the stomp on the head seems to be coming direct from the GOP.

Last week, Tucker Carlson showcased the fact that the GOP is doing its best to lose November’s election.

He included a clip of Mitch McConnell admitting that the GOP would likely not take the Senate. McConnell and the rest of the leadership don’t want to win. Carlson rightly suggested that, if Republicans really wanted to win, they’d run on crime and immigration. While the economy is reportedly voters’ number one issue, it’s what goes on in their neighborhoods and on their streets that matters. If Americans don’t feel safe in their homes, walking down their streets, or sitting in drive-thru lines because they’re scared to go into a restaurant or store, nothing else matters…not the economy, abortion, gender rights, or Ukraine.

Republicans don’t care. They’re complaining about Biden’s spending, bemoaning government overreach, and sanctioning Putin. Those issues aren’t going to return the GOP to power, but Mitch McConnell, Kevin McCarthy, and Ronna McDaniel seem sanguine. Their lives don’t change if the GOP doesn’t take back Congress. They’ll still rule their little fiefdoms, still be invited to Georgetown cocktail parties to be feted by lobbyists and, of course, they’ll still be on Sunday morning shows to feign outrage for the latest Democrat policy.

For these grifters, the only difference between winning and losing in November is having to work for the American people…something they’re loathe to do. . .

. . . The reality is that this election has been tailor-made for the GOP, but that’s not the way it’s shaping up because McConnell, McCarthy, McDaniel, and their puppeteer, the hack Frank Luntz—who happens to be McCarthy’s roommate, landlord, or whatever—have decided they don’t want to save America. They’d rather sit back in the comfort of their minority position and pretend to care while enjoying the perks of “leadership.”

The $200 Trillion dollar question that the author, whose accurate analysis fails to ask is WHY? If you've been a reader of this column, or more likely, are just aware of the actions of the GOP at least since the Obama years you know the answer. And it's part and parcel of why in Trump's first two years when that party held all the cards in Congress his legislative agenda was essentially stymied and then, how the 2020 steal came about. The GOP is not an opposition party. It is a sham party that is there strictly to give the illusion of opposition to the dismantling of America that started over 100 years ago and went full tilt boogie with the imposition of the New Deal that turned the notion of our republic — that power is supposed to be vested primarily in the individual citizen — on its ear.

With that preamble, I give you the latest from friend of the blog and friend Michael Walsh:

You know the American Republic is on its last legs when those trying to destroy it consistently refer to it as "our democracy," which is exactly what it is not and what it was never intended to be. Historically, democracies don't last long, because they quickly turn into tyrannies after passing through the parasitical stage . . .

. . . Modern experience has taught us that essentially plebiscitary democracies, in which the "right" to vote is applied indiscriminately, and for which there are no qualifications (in some cases, not even breathing) eventually collapse once the citizenry discover they can vote themselves money without having to work for it. . .

. . . And here we are: a lazy and insolent populace demands that others feed, house, and clothe them at public expense, in exchange for doing nothing civically useful. And yet we are constantly told by the enemies of the Republic (who aptly call themselves "Democrats") that the "right" to vote is "sacred" and "sacrosanct," which is pretty rich coming from professional atheists who believe only in destruction. Unsurprisingly, these are the same people who hate the Constitution and are now open in their advocacy of its destruction. . .

. . . In short, we have to destroy the Constitution in order to save it. But why let the Left have all the fun? If we really want to defend our Republic -- and do away with "their democracy" -- it's time to get busy. Institutional capture is something conservatives are terrible at, in part because they don't realize our institutions of government, faith, and learning are even subject to capture.

Yet again, another great read from Walsh. My only problem is that I fear not only our government but a very large segment of society outside of government has become so corrupt, and more crucially dumbed down, as to make restoration all but impossible. At least I can't see it. Even though it took about 100-odd years to complete the "Long March Through the Institutions," a free society is relatively easy to destroy from within. A totalitarian police state, which we are a red nether hair's breadth from devolving into, not so much. And it all started in the schools. It's going to take at least two generations to de-Marxify America. That is if the propaganda/brainwashing mills allow it to happen. And they're not. The classifying of concerned and outraged parents at school board meetings as terrorists is proof positive that the instrumentalities of this government will be arrayed against anyone who opposes their hold on absolute power. What do you think 87,000 new IRS agents are all about?

    ABOVE THE FOLD, BREAKING, NOTEWORTHY

  • Michael Walsh: "You know the American Republic is on its last legs when those trying to destroy it consistently refer to it as 'our democracy,' which is exactly what it is not and what it was never intended to be . . . Time to restore the American Republic, by any means necessary."
"Our Democracy" Needs a Great Reset

  • Victor Davis Hanson: "Our elites are now viewed with the disdain they have earned on their own merits. And they are none too happy about it."
    The Worst and the Stupidest?
  • "There is no getting around the brazen fact that we are now facing arguably the greatest menace ever to gather its forces against the liberal civilization of the West. This is not hyperbole. For the regents of deconstruction, it’s full speed ahead . . . Whether the effort will bear fruit remains to be decided, but there is, really, no alternative."

25 Many here have been dubious about a "red wave" and whether it would ultimately matter. I have always suspected the GOP didn't want to win mostly because of the attention they'd receive from the left and their base as the country circles the drain. 34 On closer study, the Democratic Party historically appears always to have been this way and has only compounded its condition over time. Opposed to the founding, the Federalists, and adamantly pro-slavery, Democrats launched such hate-filled entities as the Confederacy, the Klu Klux Clan, Jim Crow laws, segregation, and then in a wild ’60s swing became even more profoundly anti-America and nearly communist.

45 Visited Bryn Mawr with daughter to look at the school. They are an elite/elitist institution, and they feel VERY badly about it. In the 1920s the women's college refused to allow a black woman to attend, but she did anyway, and she wasn't really allowed to enroll but managed to get into enough classes (some faculty was sympathetic and not racist) to graduate after 7 years.

So now they have named a dorm after her. The best part, though, is that dorm is where the LGBTWTFBBQ students live, because, you know, their struggle is exactly the same. And, yes, Bryn Mawr remains a women's institution, but they are very proud of their trans-men in the student body. No transwomen, though. You have to have been "assigned female at birth" in order to attend as an undergraduate.

64 JJ's Front Page link highlights New Jersey teachers personalizing their dispute with parents. Their ads are on television, and specific parents are being called "extremists" right along still pictures presented with only the union context. And the Florida law the teachers call "Don't Say Gay" is mentioned as coming to New Jersey. If this ad campaign boomerangs, I won't be surprised. The unions think they can scare parents, but parents have never regarded the teachers unions as the good guys. Witness Chris Christie, who got himself elected on the back of viral town-hall meetings where he roasted the unions.

I remember all the old timers Grandfather, Great Uncles grumbling about "Checked-Pant Republicans, Country Club Republicans, Rockefeller Republicans" at family gatherings, hell getting in fistfights at family reunions over the subject should someone exhibit any favor towards the GOPe. This is why I get a kick out of clueless comments of "cONseRVatIsm FaiLeD"as if these bastards harbored any conservatism at all. After Reagan the GOPe learned their craft well which became obvious after the Class Of 94'. Conservatives subsequently purged by leadership and grifters remained.

And you've touched on the problem, though you don't know it. The problem is the structurally racist and patriarchal grading scheme that is used to throw a veneer of "objectivity" atop a system designed and executed to perpetuate oppression. There is no such thing as objectivity and objectivity itself is an expression of Eurocentrism and patriarchal motivations. The falsity of objectivity as such is then used as a justification to continue compounding the inbuilt oppressiveness of the overall system.

The disparate outcomes in enrollment and grading are clear evidence of the underlying problems and only antiracist and antisexist action will allow for actual process against the vast systems of oppression in our overall sociogovernmental metasystem. Older progressive education concepts championed since the 1920s - including the elimination of classical grading - are good steps toward increased justice.

At least I can't see it. Even though it took about 100-odd years to complete the "Long March Through the Institutions," a free society is relatively easy to destroy from within. A totalitarian police state, which we are a red nether hair's breadth from devolving into, not so much."

Most people operate under the illusion that totalitarian systems do not have popular support. In a blind pigs and acorns thing, one of our totalitarians, Michael Bloomberg, essentially was right in a sense when he said Xi had to keep the Red Chinese placated. Even the people in our totalitarian hellhole who are hellbent on elimination of fossil fuel had to lighten up to keep the rubes in line.

I'm not worried about monkeypox effecting the election at this point. I am worried that the election will prove meaningless with the likes of McConnell and McCarthy as our lieutenants while our backs are against the wall. McConnell, at least, doesn't even want the title.

151 The GOP is not an opposition party. It is a sham party that is there strictly to give the illusion of opposition to the dismantling of America that started over 100 years ago and went full tilt boogie with the imposition of the New Deal that turned the notion of our republic — that power is supposed to be vested primarily in the individual citizen — on its ear.

You got it. But you and I are in the minority. Most people, including most Republicans, are wedded to this idea that there is a "good party" and a "bad party". They won't give that paradigm up.

When you talk about these things, just understand that a whole lot of people, including many here, simply scroll past - hoping the next article will be about "the red wave". Those people have personally spent decades of their lives pouring their emotions into "Republicans good, Democrats bad", sometimes they've sunk thousands of dollars into the concept. They will not write off that investment. Neither will any lifelong Democrat. That's just not how people work.

198 The German army wanted to induct Soviet citizens, notably Ukes. The Ukes were on board with this.

But NAZI racial plans were to kill slavic people eventually so Hitler demanded the army stop arming the Ukes and others. Some Ukes still tried to work with the Germans like Banda.

I'd argue this alone might have made the different for the Germans. Another million or so Soviets citizen soldiers and friendly territory in Ukraine might have been just enough because remember from 41-42 the Germans were seriously threatening to overrun Moscow.

An idea as old as time itself. Leaders with one foot already in the grave rarely are forward thinkers. They typically just want to keep the status quo until they die. Since some folks take issue with generational labels, I won't use any - and simply say that today's Political Class, being much older than 29, aren't interested in any kind of reform. They are interested in grabbing as much wealth and power for their own kind as they can, while lifting up the ladder behind them.

Studied this quite a bit myself. Its an interesting question. A friendly Ukraine would have helped from a logistical standpoint, no doubt. Would Germany have effectively armed them, though ? I honestly don't know. The Romanian and Hungarian collapses at Stalingrad were, in no small party, because those formations didn't have effective AT guns like the PAK series fielded by the Wehrmacht. Germany didn't provide that equipment to their allies. Would they have provided it to the Ukes, in numbers that would have made a difference ?

Again, I don't know.

I suspect not.

But...the Germans ended up losing because they couldn't match Soviet manpower numbers. Which, amusingly the Soviets could because we were sending them food and supplies.

At the start of the war with the USSR the Germans outnumbered the Soviets roughly 3.5M to 2.5M. By the summer of 1942 those numbers the Soviets had gotten up to about 5.5M. Adding another 1M on the German side, even if not well equipped could have made a serious difference.

Command and control government is a bitch and half.

I'm reminded of a railroad freight problem. Stuff moves around in cars and on chassis and they aren't always where you need them. A car here and a chassis there and eventually they accumulate to the point where you have lots of cars where you don't need them. At that point, you have to bite the bullet and run an empty train to move your rolling stock around so it's where you need it. Those are expensive and hated because they cost money and earn no revenue. Much work goes in to minimizing the problem wherever possible.

Germany is entering into that condition, but at the scale of the entire economy.

253 Sorry Mollie. Mitch McConnell epitomizes everything that people hate about Washington, and that our party needs to rid itself of in order to reverse the current destruction. His only talents come from longevity, and being an octogenarian in the senate. Those are not necessarily the qualities the people want. That would be manipulation, a penchant for personal survival over duty to the people, "deal" making over principled leadership and personally attempting to pick winners and losers, instead of having the voters pick them. He's shown many times that he loathes the voters, especially when he personally finds them distasteful. He doesn't possess and ounce of courage, and his motives are based more in pompousness and amour propre, then anything for the ultimate benefit of the people. There is a reason McConnell is the most loathed politician in Washington, and he has just proven it again. To be trite, AMF Mitch. But that is not where the vast majority of African American students are - they aren't the Huxtables. They are attending schools that are terrible. In time for winter! A winter where we're also going to be adding massive strain as we chuck as much gas as technically possible through ports to try to keep the lights on (and the factories humming) in Europe.

The Biden Administration's war on fracking is an abject disaster and we're only in the opening stages of it. Fracking produces a lot of gas, even if you don't want it. We've spent more than a decade with gas selling for under the cost of production and have retooled a *lot* of stuff to use it because it was so cheap and plentiful (and it's a good fuel to boot). Strangle the gas supply and spike its price and shit gets bad.

It's going to be bad and probably get worse. Even if the Administration backs off on its "no fracking" stance, there's going to be a lot of "once bitten, twice shy" among people with the capital to go try again. Add in some ESG restrictions by capital market players and there's a deadlock.

It's not for the fun of being contrarian to provoke an argument, nor is it the sky is falling doom. It's not a contest of "I've been conservative doing this longer". It's hoping a red wave happens. It's hoping half these bastards aren't grifters and the good ones fodder for GOPe leadership to take out next election cycle. It's hoping red wave candidates not get arrested and marched out of office because "MAGA/Republicans are the most serious threat to the security of this country".

It is extremely hard to say, especially because in the East there are two primary sources of data and both of them are questionable because of unreliable narrators. Japan obviously wants to minimize the numbers and the China obviously wants to amplify them. There were casualties elsewhere like Korea and Manchuria and the Philippines and the like, but most of the killing and dying happened in China. I don't know that anyone really knows which theater was worse in terms of body count. Europe's numbers are more reliable, though.

holy sheep this is true - but there are excellent teachers of that same demo as well! but the ones in the union in a lot of the schools - whooo boy

way back I worked with a local charter (in Philly) and they had amazing success with difficult neighborhoods - and always, always tried first to retain the existing teachers. but I think they had a 0 percent retention rate of that demo. they just didn't want to adjust to the new school's protocols. I call bullshit on this poll. I don't know of any of the details, but there's a seriously problem with it on its face. "Threats to Democracy" are a conceptual/philosophical question, even if the inputs are sane and reasonable. "Cost of living" and "the economy" are hard concepts. When there's pressure in hard-concept areas, the philosophical-concept areas take a back seat. When food is expensive, you're less concerned about vague things. The economy isn't in the shitter yet but it isn't good and the inflation is brutal. There's no way "Threats to Democracy" or "Climate Change" are actually ranking very high among normal people given that there are tangible problems at the problem.

310 But...the Germans ended up losing because they couldn't match Soviet manpower numbers. Which, amusingly the Soviets could because we were sending them food and supplies.

We absolutely WERE the logistical arm of the Red Army. Without Lend Lease, they're simply the big, immobile mass that Hitler thought they were.

I'm surprised more emphasis wasn't put on Army Group North. They didn't have to take Leningrad, isolating it would have been just fine. But cutting off the link from Murmansk would have effectively shut down Lend Lease to the Soviets. The Germans didn't really even try. They assigned two corps in a couple different pushes, but it was obviously not a priority.

Except there is little he can do about it. He's going to get the Senate - the only question is by how much. And his comments are only going to lessen his support in the next congress.

Walker, Masters, and Laxalt are in. Oz has a better then 50/50 shot to hold Pennsylvania. That's 53-47. And with a surprise 54-46. And in front of a 2024 election where the dems have way too many seats to hold, and still have the anchor of Biden around their necks.

Mitch is going to have to fight like hell to maintain his leadership position in 2025. He's old, but the clock is ticking on him for an entirely different reason.

I'm assuming it's free until it's proven otherwise. A bunch don't want to, clearly. Those that do can. And there are a sh*tload of scholarships at schools everywhere just waiting to pay for them to go.

Again, it might not be the school they want to attend, but they can attend college for free.

364 Philadelphia is lost because the Democrat election judges are completely corrupt and award elections as they are instructed. That will be in this election as was in the last one. But midterm elections draw fewer ballots, to the corrupt Philly influence can be contained. This is a turnout election, and if middle of the state voters turn out, Philly will not matter.

Contrary to the doomers, wave elections behave strangely as it often sweeps in candidates that would never had won otherwise.

For a true realignment to occur though, a party has to consolidate a majority through action in office over several consecutive elections. The Dems are simply no longer capable of it which is why they rely on election rigging as a monied elite class coupled with a welfare class is never going to appeal to a majority of voters. The GOPe is similarly situated as global corporations and the lagging and shrinking GOPe elite like the Mitt Romney's of the world are simply not capable of appealing to the working poor.

Essentially, the Dem and GOPe party establishments apparatus of candidates, consultants, and donors are directly opposed in both parties to a majority of voters which is feeding instability. Change in one or both parties must occur otherwise you get something like Venezuela and Chavez.

Everyday Dems are voting off of the remnants of loyalty and believing that the Dems care for them. GOP voters, on the other hand, have had their noses rubbed into the fact that GOP officeholders hate their own voters. GOP voters though find Dem rule intolerable because all places become inner cities under their rule.

369 "Did Joe Biden Reclassify the Russia Collusion Docs That Trump Declassified?"

If Trump declassified docs and had them in possesion, they were not classified. If the Biden administration re-classified these unclassified docs while in Trumps possession, one could argue ex-post-facto--it was legal when Trump took them, so he should not be arrested if they were made illegal for him to possess without public knowledge or him being given notice that they were once again classified. This is basic stuff.
I would guess the Left would than say, "the Constitution only says that about laws, not executive orders",
Which the response would be "the Constitution says nothing about executive orders either", and the question would be if such an order was necessary and proper. One website wrote, "Any Executive Order that has any effect on individuals that are not government employees [is] a violation of Article I Section 1"...
