The Morning Rant: About Those Georgia Elections

Stacey Abrams – Election Denier

You’ve certainly noticed how the partisan left-wing media keeps demanding that Republicans running for any race – local, state, or national - acknowledge that Joe Biden was elected fair and square with no fraud, and that if the Republican states otherwise, he is smeared with the conspiracy label “Election Denier.”

Can we co-opt that stupid term and turn it back on the media like we did “fake news”?

As you’ll recall, the term “fake news” was originally a smear used by the media against conservatives who used social media to share stories that the liberal media was trying to embargo. Donald Trump brilliantly hijacked that term and started using it against the media until they had to add it to their list of banned words, because people thought of CNN first when they heard the term “fake news.”

Let’s do that to “Election Denier.” And let’s start with Stacey Abrams. This is from just a week ago.

Abrams - Yahoo News.JPG

Stacey Abrams is still talking about how her 2018 gubernatorial election was stolen from her, and she still won’t concede.

No conservative pundit, politician, or partisan should ever refer to Stacey Abrams again as anything but “election denier Stacey Abrams.”

No Republican being asked to confirm the integrity of the 2020 election should answer with anything but a demand that the questioner acknowledge that Stacey Abrams is an election denier.

Stacey Abrams - Election Denier.JPG

Hillary and every other Democrat who’ve claimed that the 2000 and 2016 elections were stolen should also be labeled “election deniers” whenever they are spoken of.

Oh, look who else is an election denier – President Biden’s Press Secretary!

Karine - election denier.JPG

Election denier Karine Jean-Pierre is roundly mocked for the awful job she is doing as Press Secretary, but shouldn’t we also be discussing how having an election denier as the President’s spokesperson is a Threat To Democracy™ too?

Erick Erickson Smearing MAGA While Trying To Re-elect Raphael Warnock

Erick Erickson captures two infuriating GOPe talking points in this petulant tweet, in which he assigns the blame for passage of the Build Inflation Higher legislation (or whatever it was called) on MAGA Republicans, whom he blames for the loss of both Georgia Senate seats.

Erickson - Senate.JPG

As you’ll recall, Georgia’s #NeverTrump GOP establishment decided to effectively condone the Fulton County Democrats’ ballot fraud in November 2020, in order to spite Trump and his supporters. As a result, a great many conservative voters in Georgia decided not to bother even trying to beat the ballot fraud in the runoffs. They also felt no desire to reward that same establishment by voting for its two awful senate candidates in the two runoff elections. Those two Republican candidates were Veruca “I want a senate seat nowwww” Loeffler, and David “I spent most of my career outsourcing jobs” Perdue.

So, what are the two infuriating establishment Republican talking points that Erickson is pushing?

First off, there is the “just one more Republican Senator” fallacy. The legislation passed 51-50 with Kamala breaking the tie. ”If only there was one more Republican Senator we could have blocked it…”, right? How does any educated person who follows politics still fall for this?

It wasn’t one vote shy. There were at least half a dozen GOP Senators (probably more) who would have enthusiastically voted for it if their vote was needed, because their true constituency is Washington DC, not the people who elected them. Sure, those Senators preferred to cast the safe “against” vote, which they did, but someone among the Collins/Romney/Murkowski/Cornyn crowd would have eagerly stepped up for Biden if needed. Even if there were 55 GOP Senators, enough would have ultimately defected to ensure that Biden and the swamp got some version of Build Brandon Better to pass by one vote. And we’d still be hearing how the Republicans needed just one more Senator to defeat it.

Second, have you noticed how the Ericksons of the world blame the MAGA voters for not turning out to vote when a GOP establishment candidate loses. But when a MAGA type gets the nomination and “polite Republicans” like Erickson refuse to vote for those candidates, who gets the blame for defeat? Well of course, MAGA conservatives still get the blame, because they shouldn’t have nominated someone that Erickson and his cronies won’t vote for.

By the way, we have that situation right now in Georgia. Herschel Walker is beloved by MAGA Republicans and hated by the establishment. So is Erickson trying to get polite Republicans out to vote for Herschel? No, of course not. He’s trying to sabotage Herschel’s campaign.

“Everyone acknowledges the problems,” says conservative radio host Erick Erickson. “They’re curled up in the fetal position trying to make sense of it all, cling[ing] to ‘the national environment’s so bad he can get across the finish line.’ ”

The party in the White House historically fares poorly during the midterms, and Republicans are anticipating a red wave this fall as President Biden’s approval ratings keep sinking, the pandemic lingers and inflation persists.

But Erickson is skeptical the national climate will be enough to buoy Walker. “Candidates matter,” Erickson says. “A lot of people look at the national dynamics and think that matters most. Candidates matter more than a lot of people think.”

If Raphael Warnock is returned to the Senate, it’s because Erick Erickson and his ilk prefer radical leftists like Warnock over conservative Republicans like Herschel, and they are doing all they can to ensure Warnock’s re-election.

7 Problem is we can't turn election denier into an epithet, and the hypocrisy charge has no effect on people with no shame.

The thing to do is reject it outright. Who is denying there was an election? Anyone? No? So just shut it.

That is the response.

Technically, that is correct. It *was* my fault because I donated the max to both and my bad luck caused both to lose. (Of course, if I had waited a week I would have seen Mitch intentionally F it up and I could have saved some money.)

And as a reward, I have received two years of text messages from just about every candidate running for anything. So I have that going for me, which is nice.

It is arguable that he simply sees it as a political mistake to focus the '22 and '24 campaigns on the '20 election. I don't necessarily endorse that position, but it IS possible that he's arguing it in good faith simply because he wants to maximize GOP chances.

He's a Democrat-Lite, always chewing at the edges of the most popular issues and concerns of the GOP voters. We call that a Vichy Republican, whose main object is to get his bulbous face on CNN to be their house "conservative". Try the salad, jackass, and stop auditioning for nevertrump chimp of the year.

79 I seem to recall the inexplicable votes that were being taken by a Republican senate in December, 2020..... Big effing spending bill, with what a paltry $1000 for the folks who were kicked off their jobs. H1B giveaway to tech sector (off topic, but I do recall arch conservative Cruz voting yay for that.) Do jagoffs like Erickson remember how the two repub senators from GA voted on those? How many repub senators lined up this time last year for the $1.9T spending bill?
Here's the deal: Warnock voted to raise taxes and spend even more money during a recession. On a personal level, the senator has basically abandoned his kids. Looks like Erickson is ok with that.

If you go to google, they limit the results for "january 6" to 98 curated hits (!).

Bing is doing something similar to google, but just repeating the same hits over and over hoping that you won't notice.

The two big search engines -- Google and Bing -- have decided you are only going to see a very restricted curated list of results when you search for "January 6".

I'm not a doctor, but my husband had prostate cancer. The only reason they caught it was because he did yearly PSA testing, so they could see that his number was trending upwards every year. He had no symptoms. They did 3 biopsies and all came back positive for cancer, stage 1, 2 and 3 in some areas. He had his prostate removed, and has been cancer free for 7 years now. So I would say if you have previous psa tests and there is an upward trend, then I would consider getting a biopsy

Posted by: Blago
-----------------
Guess what, given what has been uncovered in Georgia, it was rigged and unless the GOP decides to end it, they will lose again.

Example A--the GOPe Gov. Kemp changed the date of the runoff from Dec to January. In addition, the GOP refused to defend GA law that specifically states if you have not voted in the general election--YOU CANNOT VOTE in the runoff. They refused to do anything about Dem vote harvesting, Abrams providing bussed in elections workers to suburban Atlanta counties and so on.

You do not literally know whatever you talk about except GOPe good, Trump bad. The reason the GOPe does not go after the Dems is that THEY do it too, particularly in primaries. Why do you think GOPe politicians are any different than Dems in red states--they want to perpetuate themselves in office and get rich off of it.

I don't have any numbers behind it, but it was absolutely the GOP thinking it was a good thing to pretend it was a perfect election even through anyone paying attention knew something was up.
It was obvious that at the very least pretending they would look into irregularities was the correct way to handle it, but they couldn't even do that. The race to erase bad orange man was on... and Mitch learned quickly that he'd better try to walk it back.
He ended up doing just that, halfheartedly and it cost both seats in GA.

160 "...MAGA Republicans, whom he blames for the loss of both Georgia Senate seats"

There is the biggest reason of all for this, that's not even mentioned: Mitch McConnell.

In December 2020, there were talks about giving another $600 (IIRC) in C-19 relief - this time to regular people. After the airlines got their billions, and business got theirs, the time came for regular people to get something as well. Now, it's not the conservative thing to do, but it is the politically expedient thing to do, and Trump said that it should pass. McConnell said No.

That really depressed R turnout, and the Dems won the seats. Oh, and guess what? The Dems pushed for the extra money, and the Senate passed it. And then some.

McConnell lost those Senate seats, not Trump. Oh, and Loeffler and Purdue were terrible candidates. They had to have a gun put to their heads to show up in GA for Trump rallies in the state. Good riddance to them both.

So, now Georgia is like Virginia ten years ago...why bother? Just another former red state that we can't sink money into. If turtle had his way, there'd be maybe 4 GOP senators

Despite the brief aberration of the GWOT, where even there, the CIA had its ass handed to it with Humint (see the debriefing debacle for example), they relied on crediting informants for information they gathered through satellite and signal intercepts. That has been true since Enigma was a secret--the Allies credited spy networks publicly while hiding signal intercepts for about 30 years.

When that didn't work, the Deep State rigged an election.

Discretionary spending, with invested interests like the military industrial complex, is easier politically than non-discretionary spending, you know, the bulk of our spending problems. And discretionary spending never gets cut except once, sequestration in 2013, which pretty much just slowed growth, and that was hugely controversial.

So, until we get a president and Congress willing to massively cut entitlements, there will be no electoral coalition for the kind of fiscal hawkism we'd actually need.

And, by the way, the GOP is absolutely guilty as charged regarding inflation. If the Dems were smart, they would say so themselves, but they can't. We didn't need the trillions that were spent as a fiscal matter, but we needed them as a political one. In that environment, all bets are off.
Biden's problem is that he should have declared victory on 20 Jan 2021 and moved on, but he had an agenda to push so it turned inflation from a 'might' do a 'definitely' scenario.

335 Ugh. You can’t say fiscal issues are dead and everyone is doing it so I can’t blame Trump. But then turn around and scream how Biden is ruining the economy via inflation. I’m just asking for a little consistency here.

Proof that you didn't bother to read the posts.

None of the adults in either party are interested in sane fiscal policy. Hell, they resorted to CRs years ago, and the theater works for them.

Biden is spectacularly bad at it, and his spokestard trying and failing to change the definition of the word recession proves it.

337 >>Fine. But then Don’t turn around and scream about Biden doing the same thing and causing inflation. That my point. Biden just took the Biden from Trump and sprinted to the finish line.

That's ridiculous. Biden and the Democrats in Congress have taken spending to and entirely different level than Trump. It's like comparing a puddle to the Great Lakes.

We were in the middle of a Democrat instituted lockdown that was causing people substantial fiscal harm. Those conditions didn't exist when Biden started spending and they don't exist now and yet the spending continues.

Sure you can. In the first instance, it is making a point about how you can't only blame one bad orange man in particular for something that nobody on our side is willing to tackle. And in the second instance, you are recognizing WHY it is a problem that nobody on our side nobody on our side is willing to tackle.

That bad orange man held the line on the shutdown for the typical GOPe continuing resolution nonsense, until it was politically infeasible. How politically feasible was it to go against the will of Congress and veto stimulus checks while everyone was locking down their respective states? Right before an election?

It was a political calculus you can disagree with. I don't like it either. But act like there was a real choice and the bad orange man is singularly to blame for reckless spending? Come on, man.

362 250k petulant children were responsible for the GA Senate loss. They handed the seats to Ossoff and Warnock because Perdue and Loeffler weren't pure enough and didn't fight for Trump! enough.
You can twist yourself into knots denying it but it's true.

They was no stealing in the runoff. Ossoff got 100k fewer votes in the runoff. Do you think they stole it by getting 100k fewer votes?? And now the oh, even if the GOP had a 52-48 majority, 2 of them would have voted with the Dems anyway and yaddayadda. All because you refuse to admit a bunch of petulant childish jackasses handed the Senate to the Dems
