I love the way Russell kept everything soft and slightly indistinct which focused the viewer's attention on the stallions while maintaining the context of the wild west. There is an immediacy to the painting that adds power to the scene and stresses the solid colors and poses of the combatants. It is very effective. It's easy to imagine him sketching furiously trying to capture the basics of the scene.

I assume you're referring to PFAS, PFOS, and PFOA, etc. Those species are biopersistent, but to call them carcinogenic is premature. Here's an example of the state of things. In 2017, the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) classified perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA), the most well-studied per- and polyfluoroalkyl substance (PFAS), as a possible human carcinogen based in part on limited epidemiologic evidence of associations with cancers of the kidney and testis in heavily exposed subjects. DNA sampling of native people in North and South America has revealed that they are not the descendants of the Clovis people, but were likely a later wave of migration. There's also a group of people in the Amazon that have DNA from Aboriginal and Polynesian people.

When I was a volunteer, we just called the shit AFF - Aqueous Film Foam. Couldn't tell you the particulars on it. I know there's a class action suit regarding the use of it now. Germans are now panic buying electric heaters after firewood supplies and stoves sold out, a desperate backup option to survive the plummeting winter temperatures. But according to the boss of the Stadtwerke Wiesbaden Netz utility company, Peter Lautz, the sheer amount of citizens using electric heaters would put enormous strain on the country’s electricity grid. Electric heaters use between 1,000 and 3,000 watts of energy, so when all are plugged in simultaneously, it could cause a massive overload and cause the grid to collapse. “If everyone switched on a fan heater at home, it would mean that we would have to almost double the existing network structure on every street,” said Lautz. Walmart is doing better than anticipated, so that makes Target's performance look even worse.
It may or may not be true (since when has that mattered?) but Walmart is perceived as "down market" from Target. When people are feeling pinched in the wallet they will shift from one to the other. Along US 2 (The High Line") in northern Montana, you come to a rest stop that was made by preserving an old Amoco station. Out the side is a tourist bench made of a split log, with the 'CMR' brand on the end. If you should walk over to see why, there's a bronze plaque commemorating his painting "Roping a Grizzly," with the notation that this event occurred a couple of hundred yards from where you are standing. Has the date, and the names of the cowboys what did it.

I know that you know that I know that you know that price is just that point where the amount of money trying to get a thing (demand) equals how much of that thing is available (supply). It's no surprise that leftists have become so radicalized that they seem to have lost all reason and all perspective on matters related to Trump. It certainly tends to validate the Trump Derangement Syndrome that was coined to describe those who have lost all connection to reality when it comes to the former president. Moreover, it proves the power that propaganda has on the mind. If the MSM run an hourly drumbeat telling the public that Mr. X is a nogoodnik, the poison gets embedded into the psyche, which makes it nearly impossible to view him in any other way.

In Japan, do they eat equines as a main course, or only as hors d’ouevres?
Posted by: Bulgaroctonus at August 17, 2022 10:26 AM (e7Zff) I've eaten horse in Japan. It was "honestly" delicious! Mostly, it was served either raw, sort of sashimi-style, or tataki-style, ie. briefly roasted over a flame. Most Japanese meals usually have several small servings of a variety of foods. A small plate of horse tataki would fit right in with that. Posted by: naturalfake at August 17, 2022 11:01 AM (5NkmN) 431
63% of the Alaska vote in and Palin trails the Democrat to serve out the rest of the deceased Republican reps seat this term. Posted by: Jen the original at August 17, 2022 10:49 AM (EcVY3)
But 4 candidates including Palin and the other R (Begich?) the Dem and one other will advance to the November election, as I understand it. Posted by: LASue at August 17, 2022 10:54 AM (Ed8Zd) 1. There are 2 elections: a special election to fill the remainder of Don Young's term and the primary for the November election. 2. Candidate #4 dropped out, so there are only 3 candidates. 3. If enough of Begich's voters ranked Palin #2 rather than the D, which is likely, then Palin wins. We will just have a couple of weeks of vote-counting chicanery. How crappy are current search engines?
I just used DDG to look for 'red emma' and the Ima_ges page was 90% Emma Watson photos and 10% a women's fancy clothing store or manufacturer [some very nice models and jackets BTW] and no photos of Emma Goldman even after downscrolling to get two new sets of photos. [The "All" search did get Red Emma historical links though.] Posted by: andycanuck (yikp0) at August 17, 2022 11:02 AM (yikp0) 434

It's pretty impressive how the Cheney Family has been able to seamlessly shift from conning conservative or of their money to conning liberals out of theirs. It looks like Liz thinks she can use her loss last night to turn it into a full time gig for her. I'm assuming that's been the plan for quite a while now.
Deirdre Walsh @deirdrekwalsh New: Cheney's next step - her spokesman confirms she will launch new political org (1st reported by Politico) -says will "educate the American people about the ongoing threat to our Republic, and to mobilize a unified effort to oppose any Donald Trump campaign for president,” Posted by: 29Victor at August 17, 2022 11:06 AM (2FeAz) Posted by: Vinny Barbarino at August 17, 2022 11:07 AM (KYKwc) 441

D'oh! Late to the art thread. But I love CM Russell. As a kid I'd visit the Buffalo Bill museum in Cody and spent a lot of time in the art gallery. In addition to his art, they had displayed letters he'd writtne that featured quick ink and watercolor sketches of horses and people. Very neat stuff.
